Garlic Aquarium Day 1 - Day 30

I saw some old garlic that was sitting in a bowl, beginning to grow shoots (green, stalk part). Sometimes the shoots can cause indigestion and heartburn so instead of eating this garlic, I repurposed it and grew it in my tank for 30 days!

Peater is so so cute! And i have garlic in my tank as well. At first I though nothing happened for the first few days, than i watched closer. The roots practically exploded. They grew so fast! It's insane

guy's do not try this....I did it after watching this video ......
The garlic melted from the root side and left a pungent smell that have not gone from past one week😫.... Now it's in my canister filter media..... Water stinks ...
Now I have to buy new filter media......
Ps- don't say just do the water change and the Water will not smell... Been there did that ... Doesn't work at all..... 😭

You had it submerged too deeply. Lol. You didn’t see it start to rot ? I always put all kinds of plants in my tanks. I keep mbuna cichlids and they eat everything before it has a chance to grow that much.

The point is using garlic to suck nitrate from the tank and it looks pretty too.
