When Anna asks questions, please keep in mind they're rhetorical, unless she says to tell her in the comments. I've seen many a reactor get big spoilers because commenters take questions literally . . .

Oh, this episode always breaks my heart so freaking much. Not that I don't get why Lucifer pulls back in panic after his revelation about how much he really loves Chloe, and how impossible it is for him to ever truly reveal the truth to her without terrifying her and losing her forever.

Dan doesn't need to look Charlotte up, he knows who she is. - remember 202?
Charlotte Richards is a criminal defense attorney (Richards & Wheeler); hence the Goddess talking about reading the law books, clients, etc.
Though Charlotte had been murdered, and the scene of the crime had been investigated, all that was there were the bodies of Sanchez and the maid and Charlotte's blood/phone/shoe and no third body. The police assumed the "bleeder" survived the attempt.
_Okay, my guess is that this is an affair gone wrong. Jealous husband follows his cheating wife here. He kills the young lover, he wounds her, and then he drags her home or she escapes._
She was just considered a missing woman.
As the case unfolded they discovered who the blood/shoe belonged to, the Cartel, the FBI connection, etc.
Even the killer thought she survived and attacked her to "finish the job".
Lucifer stabs her to explain away the blood
_Well, the detective knows you're alive now, so you're gonna have to sell the whole Charlotte charade. Need to explain that blood pool somehow._
In 203 she shows up at the precinct.
Lucifer asks Chloe _"What on earth is she doing here?"_
And Chloe replies: _"Charlotte Richards. The defense attorney we saved, remember? She must be back here defending some scumbag."_
He asks _"But why are they all being so... chummy?"_
She says: _"Well, she used to be a cop, and, oh, yeah, 'cause she's a knockout."_
Defense Lawyers go to the holding cells and interrogation rooms all the time.
To top it off, she used to be a cop.
So Dan already "knows" who she is.

Quick prologue answers. Lucifer is persona non grata to the other angels. It would take permission from their father to talk to him. Angels can talk to each other via prayers. But no one besides amenidiel would answer him.
There are other creatures mentioned in the show and hell has more than human occupants. How hell works will be explained soon enough.

In the context oof this show you can't treat the godess and the angels the same as humans when it comes to emotional intellect. Nor morals. Out of all the celestial beings, Lucifer is the most "human like" because he's been visiting Earth and has gained some perspective and knowledge of humans over time. When it comes to the godess she wants to have her sons come with her back to Heaven, but Amenadiel can't (which he's stated, due to his fall) and Lucifer won't (he's also banned so he's afraid of what might happen if he tries). The godess hates humans, and Amenadiel have not warmed up to humans yet. He still thinks in the ways of "celestial business" being far more important than any human...

Lucifer can't go back to Heaven as an extremely minor spoiler it's revealed in later season that part of his banishment includes he will burst into flames and die if he ever sets foot in Heaven again without permission.

Yes someone's not going to get evicted 2 hours after by the son of a murder victim. But this is a fantasy show, and they only have 45 minutes to get it done. So you may want to just gloss over those real estate realities. 😆

The important thing about this episode is the sessions with Linda. Lucifer realized that he finally found an emotional connection with Chloe, even that he has feelings for her. This literally paralyzes him, it has never happened to him before. Up until this point in the story, Lucifer only considered her his co-worker, a job that he really enjoys doing, but does he enjoy it for the simple fact of capturing criminals? or because he does it with Chloe?
Let us not forget that this fallen angel is emotionally retarded(check previous session with Linda), and all these emotional discoveries destabilize him.

So many moments in this episode make me tear up:
17:37 Chloe: "Lucifer, this is your home. I've always been on your side"
17:50 Mom: "He really does love this place, doesn't he?"
    Linda : "Yeah, this **place**".
[Not Shown] Chloe : "Friends help each other out."
24:23 Lucifer : "She saved Lux!"
25:27 Linda: "I think you did come to Los Angeles looking for something, but I also think you've stopped. Because maybe you found it?"
Fabulous episode! The next one is even better.

Going back to heaven is a metaphor that this show is using. Getting back into the good graces of God or figuring out your purpose. Normally we are given the rules of the universe in a show. However in Lucifer the rules of everything are unclear that I would argue are because those events are the narrative positions of the show. When you are dealing with these divine beings that have the universe as their playground what is the process in seeking the right path? I think that is the process of the show's story and to lay them out and explain them would spoil the path that these beings are taking.

This is the problem with the series - the spotty writing - but also the time compression... The impatient inheritance evicting Lucifer on the morning of his father's murder - The assembly of the wine glass before the body is removed... (That would have taken months - 1000s of man hours) The series is always off pace... The events of this episode - if properly paced could have been B plots for 4 or more episodes...They compress what should be a slow evolution that could be paced out over several episodes and compress it into a few throw away scenes on the back end of an episode...
I think the writers were getting a lot of flack from FOX - a lot of meddling... So some (or a lot) of the plot points fall through the cracks as they juggle to please the network...

    • @lukasr5867
      @lukasr5867 5 місяців тому +1

I hope you DO realize that there is a huge difference between "realistically unlikely" and "realistically impossible".
I'd agree that the eviction would likely be impossible to be juristically sound (though I'm neither lawyer nor particularly familiar with the system in the US, so I can't be sure). Still, it's not impossible that a guy who want's to see his father turn in his grave could have planned bullying some people out of their homes by simply acting as though he'd have the right to do so.
The glass assembly really doesn't seem problematic at all: There are pretty big pieces, Ella claims to be a good puzzler and she doesn't seem to have anything to do with the removal of the body, so she's free to rebuild the glass while the body is being prepared for transport. Ella also didn't (and didn't need to) fix all the tiny splinters, just put the larger pieces back together, to get a mostly-complete fingerprint (as a first step anything sufficient to get a match would be good enough, getting enough detail to be juristically sound could still happen later). Piecing together a 50-parts puzzle certainly wouldn't take anything in the area of months or 1000s of manhours (at least it wouldn't for most people).
So yeah, not everything might be the most likely thing to happen in a realistic scenario, but if you actually consider all the information given, it doesn't seem to be impossible. And that's exactly what movies and series are all about. The unlikely cases. Be it for drama, suspense or comedy.

@@lukasr5867I Do realize that the show is based on an impossible premise. The Devil is not running around LA solving crimes with the LAPD. Their solve rate would probably be much higher... Thanks for checking in. (/joking)
Its the pacing. This series moves at a breakneck pace. I wish they could have slowed down the plot line and let things develop a little more slowly. I assume this is caused by network executives meddling in the production.
I really think the story lines of this episode would have been better in a 2 or 3 episode arc. So we could have spent more time on the murder investigation, saving Lux or the Chloe/Lucifer relationship... There where a lot of good ideas in this episode that could have been explored a lot more - but they were squeezed to death in one episode.

    • @lukasr5867

@@Sillydogification In your original comment you mention "spotty writing" and "time compression" as "the problem with the series" and gave two examples. I gave you arguments why I think those examples are not a problem and you answer by sarcastically downplaying their relevance.
Now you mention again "pacing" (which I guess means the same as your previous "time compression" issue), without giving any more examples at all. Merely stating that it "moves at a breakneck speed" as though that were a fact, but without any backing or explanation whatsoever.
All of which leads me to believe that despite your sarcastic assertion you did in fact NOT understand my point. That was not at all about Lucifers presence being impossible, but about the improbability vs impossibility of the normal, mundane activities, the policework, etc, which your original comment focussed on.
Meddling execs are certainly a possibility, but we shouldn't just shit on them based on a suspicion, especially if there isn't even a real problem.
I also don't get what you mean with storylines should span 2-3 episodes - they do, afterall. At least the celestial plot. The cases have always been episodic and more of a nice backdrop for the slow main story to happen on, as well as a source for some light comedy inbetween the angelic drama. And I don't really see that much depth in this case as that it would need more screentime.

    • @Sillydogification
      @Sillydogification 5 місяців тому

@@lukasr5867 No no. I was being sarcastic about not differentiating between improbable or impossible... I dont think its possible that someone would evict a tenant in a building he's just inherited - before probate, before the investigation is concluded or before the body has been taken to the morgue. Now in the real world - None of that would happen. The corporate lawyers wouldn't allow that to happen in such haste.
I do kinda dump on the network execs, because this is a FOX show, and they have a history that I've noticed with Science Fiction/Fantasy shows like Firefly. That turns them into lightening rods...
I think the show could have been better if they'd slowed down more and let the sub plots play out slowly.. Give them more drama and substance.
