Hi Peter, After careful inspection of my 1995 Toyota corolla, I found out that both my fuel lines, mainly return line, and my brake lines have huge rust buildup and ready to burst any minute. The Toyota dealer in my area just outside Chicago Illinois wanted $1998 to replaced the fuel lines and most likely another $2000 to replace brake lines and the reason being is that they have to take muffler and the fuel tank to do the work. Other shops were not any cheaper. After watching your video on how to replace the fuel filter, I learned to make connection to fuel lines at the engine side. Then I started watching your other videos and I realized that I don't need to take muffler and gas tank out to make connection to fuel tank. Toyota has an access opening under the seat to make such connection and all shops are wrong about taking muffler and gas tank out. Today I finished the work on replacing all fuel lines and brake lines thank to you. The car runs great and brakes very well. Thanks again and keep up the good work. I saved over $4000 in car repair on this car alone. Ali
I watched a couple other videos on replacing the fuel filter and everyone else said u had to depressurize the fuel lines, each person said the relay fuse was in a different place. We decided just to crack it open & let it leak out. It was fine. No gas shooting out in streams like other people mentioned. Also my new filter didnt come with the bottom o ring washer, but I think the replacement part was designed so it didnt have it, runs fine, no leaks. Thanks for sharing as always, your videos are so helpful!
Thank you Peter! Got Corolla Wagon 2002 as my first car, it's 7th generation one (E100 series), car was made for the Japanese market and later found itself in Russia where I own it now. Your video helped a lot to deal with this nasty fuel filter, when I was replacing it for the first time. Further step is to fix parking brake, and it's great you've got guides for it! Will definitely use :)
Thank you Peter for all of your teachings! Very clear and useful information. I had some issues in keeping the inlet side copper washer aligned when tightening the nut. It was always off center and thus leaked gasoline. My dad suggested that I "glue" the copper seal to the filter with a bit of vaseline before installing it. Worked really nicely and no leaks on the first try!
Peter..."your the man"!! Great lighting and explanations for us "wanna be " mechanics. Helped me sooo much. Wow...great explanation AND PATIENCE!!! I own a 1990 and 2017 corolla. Much appreciate your video on older corolla....✌ greetings from Los Angeles suburbs.
Thankyou sir. I was felling to clean my crolla 1998 fuels filter becoz when i start in morning it take time to get ready. Checked with mechanic he said he will change the filters. So i want yo do it my self coz its easiy and i have all tolls. Thanks you sir
Hello, Thank you for posting this excellent video that i needed to figue out how to connect my new fuel line to fuel filter. I know what to do now but not sure if the bolts that are holding the fuel filter and canister will come out giving the rust that exists on the car. Thank you so much Ali

Looks like the hardest part of the tune up. I've done cars where the filter is under the car like by under the door. I'm wondering if I want to do this.
Thank you once again. I just replaced my fuel and air filter without any problems due to your detailed video. Very much appreciated. If I can ever do anything for you please let me know?

1991 Celica is very much the same. It is not easy job. I could not get my filter down that low to loosen the bottom line. I did manage to disconnect it though after cursing a lot lol
Got a 1997 Corolla LE 1.6L, fuel filter was a pain in replacement. That it would fix problem of run then dies after 6 minutes or so on the road. Letting car cool down for 10 minutes able to start car/run. Then just dies. Battery is 12.7v, 14.5V with engine running. Peter Finn or anyone, do you think it is the Crankshaft Sensor or Fuel Pump that that is bad?
My 91 corolla seems very slow to accelerate and pick up speed, I’ve changed the spark plugs and wires, dib cap. Could these be it needs a new fuel filter?
I tried to find fuel filter in my 99 corolla today and called toyota parts, and they say there are 2 filters, both inside the gas tank. Is that what you found, too?
Ok, i have a 2000 corolla and there is nothing there under the master cylinder. For me it was with the fuel pump assembly, and im not talking about the little screen bag thingy. This video was vey missleading.
Afternoon Doctor. I have a problem. My Corolla is not idling correctly. I tried to do a service on it. Changed the plugs, changed the oil, its oil filter, fuel filter and air filter. But the problem is there… I don’t know what to do.
Great! I have a question. My car with same engine works fine on CNG. Its starts and runs smoothly. But it has issues in petrol mode. Its start on Petrol but then turns off after 5-6 seconds. Cranks well. Fuel pump is renewed. Still issue. Fuel pressure is fine which is checked (as you shown in your one video). But still there is issue with petrol but not on CNG. Have shown to mechanics also but no solution yet. Any idea or suggestion please?
the bottom nut wont come off of the fuel filter. its rusted and wont budge. do u know a solution? its a corolla e110 hatchback 1.6 vvti 2000. thank you sir.
Thanks again Peter! This is same for 2000 model year? I only saw info about filter inside of the tank and that it didn't need replacing. Today I finally found info that 2000 had two (including this one that should be replaced as you suggest). I also read that you should pull a fuse or disconnect the battery prior to this replacement?
Um, as I thought, my 2000 only has the fuel filter in the fuel tank, not this inline one on the firewall. Therefore I think your 2000-2002 designation is incorrect.
Hi, I have toyota corolla 1999, but according the catalogue there is no any gasket on bottom pipe, only couple rings for upper one. I ordered the genuine toyota fuel filter and it comes with two gasket also. May be we have different models. My model is AE111L-AEPNKW. What's your model number?
Hi, Peter: My car is 2001 Toyota Corolla LE. Do you think I can follow your video to replace my car fuel filter? Does 2001 Toyota Corolla LE use the same type of fuel filter as showed in your video?
No, our cars have it in the engine bay, most have it under the frame just after the fuel tank and some have it in the tank, but there's usually never more than one filter. There is a fuel strainer on the fuel pump to keep the pump from getting ruined though.
My Corolla is 2001 and the fuel filter is not in that place, I can't find it anywhere, I looked for it in the engine compartment, under the car, near the gas tank and I can't find it
Dang this actually takes a little time... I might have to just buy the fuel filter part and take it to my mechanic. I don’t have the tools either for this :/
I have 1995 prizm can't get bottom of fuel filter disconnected....nut is tight. Will try again tomorrow. Also, you can start the car with the air hoses all disconnected??

This bolt is bad, I sometimes have nightmares about the bolt myself. But you can also get the bolt open when you have the right tools. Round and shaped also from the corners. And if you have a gas stove or a gas flame, heat the pipe bolt for a moment. In that case, also call the fire department as a backup, because the engine can catch fire and then the car and your house can also burn. Be careful !

Yeah it is possible that the fuel filter is clogged.
A lot of pressure coming out of fuel tank when gas cap is removed air blows out hard for about a minute this shouldn't be normal right
