Who's ready for a long weekend?! 🙋♀️I'm not sure if it'll be beach weather here this weekend, but I think I'll replant flowers on my patio. How are you guys enjoying the long weekend? xo - Lisa
Cold and rainy here. I inspected my garden and am now babysitting my granddaughter. Homemade pizza tonight with a new red wine I picked up at a tasting last weekend. Rainy but peaceful. I’m very much looking forward to your cookbook. Have a great weekend!
I’m planting flowers🌸, green beans and carrots 🥕this weekend…along with the usual laundry and house cleaning👍🏻 my husband is working so can’t really take off for anywhere else! Thanks for all the delicious recipe ideas. I can’t wait for your cookbook 🥰 Have a wonderful weekend!!!
Don’t throw out the core. Cut into chunks, freeze, use in smoothies. The core contains bromelain which is great for inflammation, allergies, digestion and more. 🍍 😊
You took the words right out of my mouth... as I watched the video I was saying the same thing and came to the comments to share almost the exact same health benefits of consuming the core. 🍍
That is the best grape slicing tip ever! This is a great combination of fruits. Multiple colors & flavors, and no waste as you said the whole thing makes for an excellent smoothie base. Thanks Lisa! Have a great weekend.
Put the core in smoothies or juice it. Throwing it away is a waste. You can also freeze it, partially thaw it, sprinkle it with sugar, and it makes for an amazing summer treat. It's perfectly edible and when frozen then thawed it's way softer and just as flavorful.
This is giving me more ideas :) You can add mint to your dressing, you can try persimmons for a fruit with extra sweetness, you can add berry juice for a healthy punch, or prosecco for a fruity sangria!
When I look at it, the drool doesn't stop. Very refreshing and natural sweetness and freshness are perfect for refreshing! On hot days, you can chill it and add mint. Thank you for sharing.
The grape slicing trick!!!😳. This is perfect - I’m hosting my Bookclub tomorrow and was planning on fresh fruit so this will make it better !! 😊 Ed: I did make this and it’s amazing what the addition of that dressing does! You don’t really taste it - it just makes it taste like the best fruit salad ever!!!
🐇Yummy! This is so perfect! And I just bought a new beautiful serving bowl. Was wondering what my first dish should be, to put in it, perfect timing. Thank you❣️
Yes, the core makes for great smoothies. Pineapples are good for healthy gums and speedy healing. I also freeze strawberry tops for smoothies. Smoothies are a good way to use the entire fruit (veggie).
Welcome to the Downshiftology community Jean! ❤️ And since you're new, I thought I'd let you know I'll be revealing my cookbook later this year. So, be sure to follow on social and subscribe to my email list for updates along the way! We lived in Hawaii for a few years and the best, ripest pineapples are the ones that are the most yellow/golden. Green pineapples will be sour, almost to the point of being bitter! Bring it home and yes, tip it over upside down overnight or at least as long as you can before peeling & slicing. Don't discard that core! Boil it in some water (with or without sugar) and add that "pineapple simple syrup" to ice tea, or use it like I do and home can that pineapple!
I cut the leaves off of the pineapple, turn it upside down & let it sit on my kitchen counter until it's fragrant. This takes a few days. Then I peel and slice it. I learned this tip in Hawaii.
Thank you!! This looks delicious and I wanna eat it for dessert❤️thanks for tips on cutting fruit too! Newly subscribed, this page is so aesthetically pleasing on the eyes!!
Growing up we would have fruit salads mixed with peach pie filling, but that honey lime dressing sounds amazing in the salad. Making that dressing this week with my fruit salad.
I truly regret not living in California........in the next door unit.. Lol. Been watching for years and I’m still amazed at how delicious everything looks, yum!! Will be making this this week
You're so sweet! Good thing all my recipes are easy to make right at home 😊 Hopefully within the next few years, I can meet some Downshifters in real life!
Yummy 😋 (as usual) love the trick of the grapes! I use lemon and a bit of sugar but I will try with lime and honey. But mango... I will use banana (one of my favorite fruit) Greetings from Spain Lisa.
@@Downshiftology about the bananas that's why I use the lemon and sometimes orange for the dressings. The idea is to add the bananas the last, just before the lime/juice. I will try the recipe (with the lime as soon as possible) I am a teacher and I finish today. Greetings from Spain.
Wow. Here I am, thinking I knew all about fruit salad. But now... MIND BLOWN, using two lids to cut grapes?! Like why has no one told me that before 😂 And that dressing looks deeelicious😍 Have to try this asap. Is this what it means to be an adult - getting super excited to make a fruit salad?! Well, I love it 😂👏🏽 Thank you for this!!
Thanks so much Clara! You can see more about how I take care of my orchids on my Instagram stories here: instagram.com/stories/highlights/18066375163141236/

Thanks for the tip.
You took the words right out of my mouth... as I watched the video I was saying the same thing and came to the comments to share almost the exact same health benefits of consuming the core. 🍍
I eat the core, I just find it yummy, call me weird! :) Thank you for the extra nutrition information too!
Rather than discard the core, it great to add to a pitcher for pineapple infused water.
Good idea, but I love eating the core..lol
@@momsings5062 : Nice. I boil the peel, add lime, ginger, sugar (sweetener of your choice)..pineapple juice. So nice and refreshing.
Great idea Katy!
I can't find the screw top jar that you keep your cut celery in, also are they stored in water? Thank you.
My mom adds Port wine and leaves it in the fridge overnight, and then sparkling water just before serving. Delicious
Sounds great Paula! Thanks for sharing the idea.
I never thought I needed a recipe for fruit salad until I watched this!
Hope you enjoy this recipe! ❤️
This is more about kitchen technique sans the three ingredient "dressing". Appreciated the cutlery use tutorial and fruit information. Thanks.🙂
That is the best grape slicing tip ever!
This is a great combination of fruits. Multiple colors & flavors, and no waste as you said the whole thing makes for an excellent smoothie base. Thanks Lisa! Have a great weekend.
Hope you had a great long weekend as well 😊
My mom adds orange juice and a little bit of grenadine(sometimes only the orange juice) as the dressing and OMG!!! Delicious!!! #costaricanstyle😉
Today is the first time watching your channel so good and very well explained good recipes.
Put the core in smoothies or juice it. Throwing it away is a waste. You can also freeze it, partially thaw it, sprinkle it with sugar, and it makes for an amazing summer treat. It's perfectly edible and when frozen then thawed it's way softer and just as flavorful.
Thanks for the heads up! 😊
Oh, wow! This 68 year old woman just learned a lot of new tricks... and I eat assorted fruits every day! Thank you.
This is giving me more ideas :) You can add mint to your dressing, you can try persimmons for a fruit with extra sweetness, you can add berry juice for a healthy punch, or prosecco for a fruity sangria!
Yes! Mint will be a great addition to this 😊
I love a fresh fruit salad. I’ve made rainbow salads too, but have layered them vertically. They are always a hit!
That's also a great idea for a beautiful presentation 😊
I like to add a diced apple for a little blt of crunch.
I love to add walnuts or sliced almonds for a little crunch
Wow, taste the rainbow 🌈 😋 😍 Perfect for Sunday brunch.
Absolutely! Perfect for all weekend festivities 😉
I love fruit salads! I also add fresh mint leaves, incredibly refreshing!

Oooh!! I like how you arranged the fruit in a diagonal!! Beautiful rainbow through the glass bowl...
When I look at it, the drool doesn't stop. Very refreshing and natural sweetness and freshness are perfect for refreshing! On hot days, you can chill it and add mint. Thank you for sharing.

The colours make it enticing 😋 even fruit haters wouldn't be able to resist this 👌
WHAT ALL THOSE GRAPES?!!! NO WAY. 🙉👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you 👍🏻🙂
it's also really nice to just add a fruit juice to it like apple or tropical fruit juice. It keeps the fruit from browning too
This looks so yummy 🤤

Yummy 😋 (as usual) love the trick of the grapes! I use lemon and a bit of sugar but I will try with lime and honey. But mango... I will use banana (one of my favorite fruit) Greetings from Spain Lisa.
Hope you enjoy this fruit salad with banana! Just keep an eye on it as bananas will brown fast.
@@Downshiftology about the bananas that's why I use the lemon and sometimes orange for the dressings. The idea is to add the bananas the last, just before the lime/juice. I will try the recipe (with the lime as soon as possible) I am a teacher and I finish today. Greetings from Spain.
The dressing must taste nice with a bit of fresh mint chopped in
Yes, mint would be a great addition 😊
