The ONLY 2 Fishing ROD and REEL Setups you NEED for Topwater FROG FISHING

I keep it simple when I'm frog fishing no matter what lake I'm on. I only have 2 fishing rod and reel setups that I really need for fishing a topwater hollow body frog. I use one rod for when I'm casting around heavy cover and thick vegetation like lily pads and cattails or fishing docks. The other is a more versatile all around rod for open water frog fishing, skipping, and fishing around sparser cover on a lake. I think you need only 2 setups because for the most part your fishing a frog in the thick stuff or as a general topwater bait out in the open and having the lighter setup instead of only using your heavy cover setup in all situations allows you to put more action on the frog as you walk it. A lighter tip rod really allows you to control how the frog moves back and forth and even spin it 180 degrees!

Awesome info. I run an Ardent 8.1 with heavy action 7 footer for the slop. Also my backup shot would be a jig with a heavy action rod. 40 to 50 lb braid. When they miss the frog drop the frog rod and pitch in the pig jig. Turn drag all the way down and haul ass on the reel. Cut through the slop fast especially on a heavy fish. Again great info Mike.
