"Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children"--such a powerful quote to include for that specific scene. I love your love for The Crow, it’s one of the most important movies to me. I always loved it growing up but when I was 21 I lost my best friend in a car accident, and this was the movie I turned to. The expression of grief into anger, the need for revenge, and the ultimate message that you never truly lose anyone while you still love them was just what I needed. Gets me teary every time I watch it 😂
Very cool list, my mom took me to the theater to watch The Crow in theaters when I was 11 years old and it's still my favorite comic book movie ever. I'm with you on hating most rom coms but When Harry met Sally is amazing and I would also recommend The Accidental Tourist from 1988 with William Hurt and Geena Davis. Hard to pick a top 10 but Clockwork Orange, Jaws, True Romance, My Cousin Vinny and Nightmare on Elm Street 1984 are probably my top 5 in no order.
Pretty cool list. Love the crow, Toy Story and Heat! Can’t go wrong with Mad Max: Fury road and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Also admire that you have every reason to start an OF but you have a Patreon instead.

I agreed with all the ones I have seen from your list. I was kind of hoping Pet Detective would make your list as well. You have given me reason to think about watching some of the ones that I haven't seen from your list.
Your list is awesome! I’m such a sucked for “Inglorious Bastards”. I think it’s Tarantino’s best. Everything from that 20 minute tense opening, to Brad Pitt, to the long drawn out & meticulously built scenes makes me remember why I love movies!
Fifth element is my all time favourite. I remember my step dad not letting me watch it because of the nudity so I sneaked it when he was out and I was obsessed. Bruce and Milica are amazing together. For the time the visuals are amazing the costumes are well before the time. The bandage outfit is so iconic. I was sad that we never got a sequel. I own the collectors edition steel book and like 4 other different versions of it including the original VHS that was the one I sneaked as a kid. It deserved so much more love than it got.
It’s good to hear you talk about what you like for a change! Not that I’m down on the snark, but this was refreshing. How about the next ten of your top twenty?
Love the eclectic nature of this list. Ace Ventura 2 fits in your list like a glove. That rhino scene is so stupid it's genius and I have laughed relentlessly at it since I was a child. Great list!
I share your hate for rom-coms in general, yet also share your love of when Harry met Sally. For me what's great about the movie is the final scene. I don't want to spoil it for your readers, but Billy Crystal's character drops a pearl of wisdom so brilliant it sticks with me to this day.
I love your channel and your list I've seen all those movies except 3 and I agree with you about Ace Ventura I have the movies on DVD but I have to say kill bill 1&2 is his best.❤❤
Agreed, however, I do agree with Snarky on Inglorious Bastards as well, also a sure top 10. But yeah, True Romance really is likely the greatest movie ever made. @@Psilocybin77
Hi Snarky Jay, I'm an Aussie fan of yours who was just going to remain schtum while I watched your videos but now that you have made it abundantly clear how you feel about The Crow, I suddenly have something I want to say to you: PLEASE COME TO MELBOURNE AND MARRY ME!!! Here I was thinking I would only ever find other blokes who loved the movie. But I digress. It will always be one of my favourite films. Dark, evocative and melancholic (how we miss you Brandon, sob), even more than thirty years on. And that soundtrack. None better! James O'Barr was here last year for one of the pop culture conventions and I really wanted to meet him. They had placed him right next to Kevin Eastman or some Ninja Turtles artist and everyone was going there rather than to James and I think I said something to him to the effect of 'who the hell gives a crap about ninja turtles anyway?!' which garnered a smile. He signed my Crow graphic novel 'buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever' and I was the happiest camper. Essay over, keep up the good work!
1. King Arthur: legend of the sword 2. Dune part 2 3. Treasure planet 4. Count of monte cristo 5. The batman 6. Reveng of the sith 7. Ip man 8. Winter soldier 9. Money ball 10. Man of steel Ive excluded comedies because its more of what i feel like in the moment, some days they rank higher then they usually would just because i want a laugh. But they would be movies like What about bob Step brothers Napoleon dynamite Ace Ventura Lego batman movie
Very solid list! The Crow and Inglorious Basterds would definitely be close to the top of my 10 favorites as well! The Crow basically informed my entire childhood, but I adore darker stuff, so I may be biased. Also... if you want a great musical that is something a bit darker with a great plot, stunning visuals, solid acting chops and awesome music, check out Repo: The Genetic Opera. I usually don't care for musicals, but this one is brilliant.
Awesome list! Some of my favorite movies as well. I don't why it took me so long to pick up One Flew Over Cuckoo's Nest for my movie collection but I finally got it last year from Dollar General. It's an awesome set it comes with lobby cards and a deck of playing cards.
Jay thanks for sharing your favorite movies. I think we have similar tastes. Obviously The Crow should be in everyone favorite list. It's perfect for any season 😁 It's cool to see a lot 90s movies in your list. I love any movie with Jim Carrey in it. Ace Ventura was so much fun. My favorite by him was The Mask, Sonic Movie 1 & 2, Me, Myself, And Irene. Some of these on your list I never seen before but will watch them soon. I wish you a blessed day ✨️🌼
All of those were good pics. The Crow was my favorite as well. My VHS tape never got to rest. I know every line and character in that movie. My favorite scene is at Top Dollar's hideout where he's using Skank to lure in Eric Draven bringing the shoot out with the song After the Flesh by Thrill Kill Kult in the background.
I love watching your videos. I think they are great, fair minded, and fun to watch. I think the reason why I love watching a person's UA-cam channel is because of who they are. I can see a person has to present their self in a positive way for their channel. And I think good people radiate more in some way naturally. Thank you for taking all your time to make your videos. I love when I find a good person to watch their videos. They become a part of life for me. I hope you have a great day. Thank you sincerely. John (Popo)
Actually love this list, Snarky. I watched "Basterds" four times AT THE THEATER when it came out. God knows how many more times once I bought the Blu-ray. "Whiplash" is the last film to come out that I can honestly say is one of my all time favorites. The drumming in that film beat me into submission... in a good way! "La La Land", same director, goes from good to great with that amazing ending sequence. Where it becomes one of the best "ones that got away" movies. "The Crow" IS the 90s. "Toy Story" changed the feature length animation game forever. "When Harry Met Sally" is the only movie where the "I've come to a realization and now must RUN to the person I love trope" actually works. Keep up the great work. Make more movie lists!
The Crow has been my favorite movie of all-time since it came out in 94. Ive watched it every Devil's Night for the last 30 yrs. I was a big fan of Brandon Lee before that even. I won't ever forget when the world found out about his tragic passing. RIP
All solid choices, with Ace Ventura movie is legit, hell you could’ve put the Mask in there and it would’ve fit. Jim Carey was so great in this period. I saw the Crow when it came out in 94, I was 17, what a great soundtrack as well. I haven’t seen Heat, I’m interested though. Also no Inglorious Bastards.
Good list, a few I haven’t seen I will be adding them to my must watch list. I do love “The Crow”. I wish I could come up with a top ten list. If I did I know “The Princess Bride” would be on it and I’m surprised it was not on your list.
Decent list Miss Jay The Crow is the shit, I was equally too young to see it and it left a beautiful scar on my psyche. But no Old Hollywood films? Also Speed needs to be mentioned along with the other 90's hits, "Caaaaans, Caaaaans!" 😂🤣 (Love the chocker and plunging rounded neck line umph.) ☺️🤓🔥
Good list Jay! My top 10 are: 1. Last Action Hero 2. Rocky 4 3. Terminator 4. Terminator 2 5. Four Weddings and a Funeral 6. Back to the Future 7. Superman 4 (so bad it’s good) 8. Cliffhanger 9. Jurassic Park 10. The Bourne Identity
Hi Snarky Jay! I always enjoy hearing people’s lists and this was no exception. I don’t know if you will see this, (it’s a 3-month old post) but I decided to make a list of other movies you might like. Some of these are not spoken of much, but I love them all and I enjoy introducing people to things they might love. If you love The Crow (1994), you might also enjoy Dark City (1998). It’s another Alex Proyas film with a lot of dark atmosphere. It has a Fritz Lang, German Expressionist feel to it and it’s also a great Neo Noir. Inglorious Bastards (2009) owes a lot to Where Eagles Dare (1968) and The Dirty Dozen (1967). Both are great films. Where Eagles Dare is my favorite of the two for its many twists and great team up between Richard Burtan and Clint Eastwood. Love these! Heat (1995) is a remake of LA Takedown, a 1989 made-for-tv film. If you love this movie for the thriller elements and the privilege of seeing great actors at the top of their game pitted against one another, I’ll recommend Billy Wilder’s Double Indemnity (1944).
When Harry Met Sally (1989) is the best rom com, in my opinion, but it owes a lot to Charlie Chaplin’s The City Lights (1931). The City Lights is one of the best films ever made, full stop, in my opinion. It’s full of funny scenes and, like When Harry Met Sally, I cry every time I see it. Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) is not one of my favorites. I’m sure you’ve heard of Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad (1988). It was a spinoff of a wonderfully inventive, and unafraid to be stupid tv series that was canceled after a half dozen episodes in 1982. One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest (1975) is a great film. I’m going to roll dice and recommend the very weird 1970 film, The Ruling Class. It stars Peter O’Toole as a royal who thinks he’s Jesus. It’s based on a stage play by my favorite playwright. I think it’s O’Toole’s best performance and it’s bold and boisterous and genre-bending and funny and tragic.
Toy Story (1995) Great movie. Great trilogy. My mind goes blank to think of another movie like it. Since you love Whiplash (2014), I’m going to recommend Amadeus (1984). It’s focused on music, features an adversarial relationship and like Whiplash it takes no prisoners. Both of these movies thrill me and and make my palms sweat. Since you love La La Land (2016), you might at least like Once (2007). Both are great modern takes on musicals. Silence of the Lambs (1991) is a great take on a serial killer. There Night Must Fall (1937) is a spine-tingling thriller, featuring a serial killer, that was released before the Hays Code was fully enforced and when I watched it I was thrilled by how brave it was. Cheers!
Great list! The Crow ranks high for me too. Saw it on opening night in high school, went back again the next night. Inglorious Basterds is also fantastic, but I prefer the Kill Bill movies. Jaws, The Exorcist, the Incredibles, and Avengers Endgame would also make my list. Have you watched Grosse Pointe Blank or The Thomas Crown Affair?
Great list of movies, especially the 70s classic 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' that everyone should see once in their lives. I highly recommend you watch 80s classic 'Manhunter' if not already as it's my personal favourite movie based on Thomas Harris novels, which is Red Dragon. I personally could never do top lists for anything I love in media as its forever changing, but I will confidently say that Surrealist David Lynch is my No1 filmmaker :-)
@@Mickey-1994 I still really liked 'The Silence of the Lambs', but feel fantastic filmmaker Michael Mann's 'Manhunter' is the vastly superior movie :-)
You have a fascinating movie list. I haven’t heard of some of these movies, and I have to check them out. The Crow is a movie I’ve been meaning to watch for some time
As I was ruminating on whether or not to Sub you or not and the moment the words “Number 1. The Crow…” I immediately paused the vid and clicked “Subscribe”. That’s been my all-time favorite film EVER since I first saw when it released. Then you prove you’ve got great taste with “Inglorious Basterds” followed by Heat” and honestly the rest of this great list!
The Crow! This is one of my favorites. I've lost count on how many times I've seen it and I still watch it any time it's on my cable channels. Inglorious Bastards is also one of my faves. You pretty much hit every mark in my favorite movie list. I have some suggestions (if you haven't seen them already): The LOTR trilogy, World War Z, The Misfits (1960 gem), The Professional, Jack Reacher. Kung Fu Hustle and Shao Lin Soccer are hilarious. I put them on the same level as the Ace Ventura movies. Anyway as you probably know, there are so many movies out there to discover. I hope you find some grest ones to add to your list. Thanks for the great video!
Love you picks, Inglorious Bastards is one of my favs! The only two I have not seen is Heat, One Who Flew, and love Disney movies nothing wrong of being a big ol kid! Love your channel
Cool picks! The 90s were awesome, so many great movies. Mine is (not necessarily in order) Gladiator (for sure my fav) Saving Private Ryan Kingdom of Heaven Schindler's List Empire Strikes Back Goodfellas Pulp Fiction Batman (Tim Burton) The Dark Knight Waterloo (1970s with Christopher Plummer)
Bruh.... Good list!!!!! Seriously. The only one that isn't on my list is When Harry Met Sally... but I haven't seen it. Great choices and extra points for choosing When Nature Calls.
The only two movies in your list that were made after the 90's are both made by the same director, Damien Chazelle. He also made First Man and Babylon, if you didn't know
oh man, I've found the older I get the harder it becomes to have absolute favorites. There's just too many that I've come to love over my 54 years. Early on when I was young the movies that really inspired and or grabbed me. Especially seeing them at their release in theaters. Jaws, Indiana Jones Raiders of the lost ark, Star Wars, ET, Karate Kid, The Black Hole. Teen years, Breakfast Club, Goonies, Some Kind of Wonderful being a drummer I had a crush on (Watt's-Mary Stuart Masterson). Star Trek the Wrath of Kahn, Young Guns, Dead Poets Society, Good Morning Vietnam. 90's Ace Venturas were cult classics for my friends and I. They're to this day when we are hanging out most quotable along with Super Troopers. Loved Silence of the Lambs, Seven, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Tombstone, Almost anything with Robin Williams. Once, Garden State, Lord of the Rings trilogy fanatic, A RomCom I always watch yearly is The Holiday, I keep rewatching the Paterson Batman, and also love season one of True Detective with Woody Harrelson and Matthew Mcconaughey, Rurouni Kenshin, and one that I think is underrated especially the soundtrack is King Arthur Legend if the Sword.
Unique list, great variety but I'm very pleased to see Heat & La La Land on here. I too admittedly cant get into musicals, but that one really hit me. Also as another stated, you should start a Letterboxd account 🙏 Keep bringing the snark.
great list! I remember seeing Silence of the Lambs at the theatre and went out to my car on a dark night and had to look in the backseat to make sure no-one was lurking back there. I'd skip Ace Ventura. Please watch Dr Strangelove if you haven't
Great list! I would recommend Reservoir Dogs, The Departed and Drive. I watch those movies probably once a year because they are very good and really entertaining.
This is the first video that I've seen of yours... and you lead off with the Crow... instant like and subscribe. Great list, a few that would be on my list and one that would never be, if I were ever to make a list.
Snarky. The Crow is my absolutely favorite movie of all time. I dress up as the crow for Halloween every year and I lose count of how many times I watch it. I also think that the new remake is an absolute abomination to the greatest movie ever made. Now one of my top 10's that no one seems to ever know about is "Enemy Mine" from 1985. It has incredible makeup and the story is universal and poignant. The message really holds true especially in today's world. Much love and keep on keepin on J.
Great list Jay, my Top 10 favorite movies of alltime are: 1. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)(Most influential Sci-fi film of all time) 🔥🔥🔥🔥 2. Terminator 2 Judgement Day (my all-time fav) 💯💪🏿 3. Starwars The Empire Strikes Back (Masterpiece) 🔥💪🏿 4. Aliens (2nd best Sequel Ever) 5. Interstellar (Masterpiece) 💯 6. Indiana Jones Raiders of The Lost Ark (Masterpiece) 💯🔥 7. Spiderman 2 (2004) 🔥🔥🔥 8. The Terminator (1984) 💯💯 9. The Mummy (1999) 💯💯💪🏿 10. 2010: The Year We Make Contact (Super-underrated, Great Sci-fi Film) 🔥💯💪🏿
I always think review channels of any kind needs to put out a personal top 10 so that the viewer can know if their tastes mesh the reviewer. Also, the dialogue during DeNiro/Pachino scene in the diner of HEAT....top tier.
Wooo Nice 10 Jay. I would include in my 10, The thing, Big trouble in little china, Spaceballs, The fly, Tombstone, The crow, Mad Max 2, Inglorious basterds, The incredibles and Disney's animated Hercules (1997)
"Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children"--such a powerful quote to include for that specific scene. Goodfellas, Empire and Schindler are all on my top 10. Ralph Finnes was completely crazy in that role.
JK Simmons being a music major in college was fortuitous for that role!

It is a really great film but I wouldn’t go quite that far. It’s great. But The Crow? Nah. Can’t go there

Great list!
Great list Jay! Whenever I park my car I often say to myself “LIKE A GLOVE!” 😂
Some solid movies... I am surprised you didn't include any of the original trilogy Star Wars movies, especially since you cosplay from the IP a lot.
Good choices, Snarky 😊 "The Crow" is awesome.
Great list! "Can't rain all the time!"
Bravo! Marvelous list! I was sure True Romance was going to make it in there!
I don't think anyone that has seen "True Romance" wouldn't include it in their top ten. It's my favourite Tarantino written film.
Agreed, however, I do agree with Snarky on Inglorious Bastards as well, also a sure top 10. But yeah, True Romance really is likely the greatest movie ever made. @@Psilocybin77
Love your channel keep up the amazing AwwwwSome work
Solid list. I'd love to see you make a video with your top sci-fi movies if you're into that genre.
Hi Snarky Jay, I'm an Aussie fan of yours who was just going to remain schtum while I watched your videos but now that you have made it abundantly clear how you feel about The Crow, I suddenly have something I want to say to you:
PLEASE COME TO MELBOURNE AND MARRY ME!!!
1. King Arthur: legend of the sword
2. Dune part 2
3. Treasure planet
4. Count of monte cristo
5. The batman
6. Reveng of the sith
7. Ip man
8. Winter soldier
9. Money ball
10. Man of steel
Ive excluded comedies because its more of what i feel like in the moment, some days they rank higher then they usually would just because i want a laugh.
But they would be movies like
What about bob
Step brothers
Napoleon dynamite
Ace Ventura
Lego batman movie
You have an amazing & Iconic watchlist especially for you rage.
I wish you a blessed day ✨️🌼
Very cool and eclectic list! Quite a few older classics in there; considering your age, it's good to see things in there that pre-date you!
Great list! Yay for La La Land! Congrats on hitting 100K subscribers.
Omg you are a stunner, and the personality to match. Keep it up, you are going places with that package
Snarky Jay....I must say, you have great taste in movies! 👍🏾
The Crow has been my favorite movie of all-time since it came out in 94. Ive watched it every Devil's Night for the last 30 yrs. I was a big fan of Brandon Lee before that even. I won't ever forget when the world found out about his tragic passing. RIP
I'm just started watching '' Black Mirror '' think im hooked 😲
All solid choices, with Ace Ventura movie is legit, hell you could’ve put the Mask in there and it would’ve fit. Jim Carey was so great in this period. I saw the Crow when it came out in 94, I was 17, what a great soundtrack as well. I haven’t seen Heat, I’m interested though. Also no Inglorious Bastards.
I rewatched The Crow 1994 again after a long time because I watched your video about the new movie. It is great with several terrific performances.
1. The Crow '94
2. Road House '89
3. Point Break '91
4. Predator '87
5. Se7en '95
6. Pulp Fiction '94
7. Scarface '83
8. The Thing '82
9. Requiem For A Dream '00
10. The Shawshank Redemption '94
good taste 👍
Good list, a few I haven’t seen I will be adding them to my must watch list. I do love “The Crow”. I wish I could come up with a top ten list. If I did I know “The Princess Bride” would be on it and I’m surprised it was not on your list.
...now, I crave your "guilty pleasure" list! 😂
They were Caaans....best line reading EVER!!!!!
Good list Jay! My top 10 are:
1. Last Action Hero
2. Rocky 4
3. Terminator
4. Terminator 2
5. Four Weddings and a Funeral
6. Back to the Future
7. Superman 4 (so bad it’s good)
8. Cliffhanger
9. Jurassic Park
10. The Bourne Identity
Thank you for sharing. Always good to hear favorites vs the recent bad reviews
Hello Jay great video ❤❤
I'm with you on Manhunter, I also put it above the rest even Silence of the Lambs.
The Crow is a movie I’ve been meaning to watch for some time
Great list! If I had to add one animated movie to my top 10 it would probably be Kubo and the Two Strings. That movie blew me away.
Great video, Snarks...👍
Loved The Crow. My top three are The Princess Bride, Big Trouble in Little China and Brave Heart
I see now why you have such great takes and taste
Some unusual and surprising choices, but appreciate your honesty and is insightful as to what inspires you to do what you do today.
Absolutely rock solid list there SJ.
I love all of those movies.
Very good list. Honorable recommends: No Country for Old Men, Shawshank Redemption
Blessed Rest In Peace Big Carl Weathers 🙏🏾
You had me at The Crow. & the you're killin it w/ the ne new do.... Fire It Up!!! Fire It Up!!!
Love your list, can't wait to get the Crow this year in 4k. Inglorious Bastards is my favorite Tarantino work as well.
Whenever you feel down Jay, remember, it's can't rain all the time.
Cool picks! The 90s were awesome, so many great movies.
Mine is (not necessarily in order)
Gladiator (for sure my fav)
Saving Private Ryan
Kingdom of Heaven
Schindler's List
Empire Strikes Back
Goodfellas
Pulp Fiction
Batman (Tim Burton)
The Dark Knight
Waterloo (1970s with Christopher Plummer)
Bruh.... Good list!!!!! Seriously. The only one that isn't on my list is When Harry Met Sally... but I haven't seen it. Great choices and extra points for choosing When Nature Calls.
You're at my friend's Booth this weekend, unfortunately I could not get away to go up there. Hope you and your dad have fun
Excellent take on Inglorious Basterds!
Great list Jay, my Top 10 favorite movies of alltime are:
1. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)(Most influential Sci-fi film of all time) 🔥🔥🔥🔥
2. Terminator 2 Judgement Day (my all-time fav) 💯💪🏿
3. Starwars The Empire Strikes Back (Masterpiece) 🔥💪🏿
4. Aliens (2nd best Sequel Ever)
5. Interstellar (Masterpiece) 💯
6. Indiana Jones Raiders of The Lost Ark (Masterpiece) 💯🔥
7. Spiderman 2 (2004) 🔥🔥🔥
8. The Terminator (1984) 💯💯
9. The Mummy (1999) 💯💯💪🏿
10. 2010: The Year We Make Contact (Super-underrated, Great Sci-fi Film) 🔥💯💪🏿
Great list! 👏👏👏 My only note is that I prefer the first Ace Ventura over the second, but Jim Carey is a comic force in both 😃
I always think review channels of any kind needs to put out a personal top 10 so that the viewer can know if their tastes mesh the reviewer.
