I have a ‘23 S with every performance option except for sports exhaust. I test drove the S and GTS back to back and from the seat of my pants I couldn’t feel a difference in acceleration. The GTS did handle a little bit better, and the suspension was definitely stiffer, but still very compliant. My car stickered for just over $82k with every performance and convenience option, and it is a better value than the GTS. Luckily, there is no wrong answer and it doesn’t matter which one you get, it’s a win-win.
Great review thank you….I just clocked up 1 year and 11000 km’s in my 23 S. Carrara White with Bordeaux Red internal…..specked the car for comfort with air suspension, 20 “ wheels, 18 way seats, thermal glass , extended leather package plus a few little nice touches…filler cap, Porsche courtesy lights & a leather key pouch…..beautiful car with more power than anyone can legally use. I wouldn’t change a thing. My first Porsche after owning and loving BMW & Mercedes Benz for the past 35 years….the S is next level ❤
Mrs RG's 19 plate "S" has just been replaced with a well specced MACAN 23 GTS. What a car, my daily is a 911 GTS and I find the new MACAN a real dilemma; in the past I always jumped in the 911 now the Macan is a real drive and one I love taking out. The old Macan was fabulous the new one is just superb, we opted for the non GTS air so it would default to comfort for my wife but can be lowered and hardened easily. I am not knocking the current S just feel the GTS offers "more" and looks "more", a great place to be!
When I specced my Macan S it worked out that I could have got a similar spec GTS for virtually the same money. The official Porsche performance stats for the S are clearly understated to make the GTS appear quicker but, while there is a difference, it is quite small. The biggest difference in apparent power is due to the Sports+ mode, which keeps the revs higher, the turbos spinning, and increases the throttle response and take-off - but you can spec sports chrono on the S and get the same. In the end I chose the S because the GTS trim (inside and out), suspension configuration, and sports exhaust were all detriments for my preferences.
I am planning to factory order a Macan S with PVT+, Sports chrono, and Air ride. These three options together you hardly ever see optioned on Dealer lots.
@@tobi_dg Good question. Completely different animal. The Macan GTS is more comfortable a ride than the 911 in almost every way. Handling and steering are actually pretty comparable. The Macan is '911 inspired' and you can tell the similarities in the performance, but not the suspension. The Macan GTS was absolutely perfect in every category but the 911....Bro...I don't miss that Macan for one second.
I have a 23S and the sport chrono and sport exhaust make a huge difference and makes it feel much closer to the GTS. I raced my S vs a GTS and at 100 MPH the S was less than a car length behind
The GTS is standard with sport exhaust, the S has sport exhaust as an option. If you option the sport exhaust on the S for $3000, how different is the sound?
Mike 2 amazing things you never showed. The Macan GTS has Launch Mode the car will do 0-60 in 3.5. Super fast. (Car and Driver). And I confirmed on my Dragy. It also not only has Sport Mode. It also has Sport+ and Sport++. You missed out!
Yes! Launch is super cool! As it was a brand new car, didn’t want to drive it too hard during that comparison. I did get to drive one hard at PECLA though. Amazing machine 👍🏼
What up-grades are a must on Macan S? The GTS is too fast for me (I'm older driver), I just want comfortable car for everyday driving in Los Angeles? What size of tires I should get for maximal comfort?
@@hldvoyeur4709 Get the 20 inch wheels with Adaptive Air Suspension which includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) for maximum comfort. As far as packages go, definitely get the premium plus package, sport chrono package, Exterior Package in Exterior Color, and the leather interior. I would add black window trim, black roof rails, and black rear badging. I also like Gentian Blue Metallic or Chalk exterior color, with the leather interior in black/pebble grey. I’d also get the sport exhaust system, and the BOSE surround sound system. Hope this helps!
Chalk is the current hot color and has a premium price tag, seeing it every where. White is least expensive but you see it everywhere too. Opinion: get black and wrap it in any color you like, (that cost about the same as the Chalk upgrade). I got Papaya!
Of course it’s not worth it if you compare to straight aftermarket which will add much more hp per $, but you pay big $$$$$ for factory Porsche Power. It’s worth it because enthusiasts know the difference between the two and if you sell to an enthusiast they will appreciate the added factory options and your resale value will almost always be higher. So I say, yes, it’s worth the extra $14,500.
Fun comparison, but with all the electrification in the automotive world, please say "engine" not "motor" when referring to an internal combustion engine. - 2:45
For real world use, and arguably better driving dynamics, try the Macan T. I preferred the T with its multiple GTS options and more distinctive appearance to the S - not to mention lower price point. Putting it in sport mode, the T is a willing and fun ride that will only be bested by the quickest (~5%) vehicles on the road. I do wish Porsche would have given the T 315 HP to slot it nicely between the base and the S.
I have the T, it's a gret drive and I totally agree with giving it more punch. At leat 305hp would have been a great point to sit at. Guys at Porsche told me to tune it, but I don't know if I'm up for that. It's quick, but not that quick. A subaru or Infiniti coupe would give it a fun for it's money...which I HATE lol. But that's to be expected when it's a bit under 300 hp.
You should turn off whatever technology is creating the subtitles in you videos because it can't spell correctly and really cheapens your presentation.
We could definitely do without the subtitles. It was painful to forcefully read the subtitles while watching the video. No punctuations, can’t spell to save your life. My niece who is in preschool could spell better.
I find no such button. Are you referring to the mode dial ON the steering wheel? if you push the button in the center of it will give you sport response for 20 seconds in all modes.
It's not worth it. I own a 2022 S and there is nothing owing or lacking in the S vs the GTS. The S is quick enough, believe me. The lack of an adjustable suspension is not a big deal as a owner and the thought of a failing system such as that and the money required to fix and replace it off-warranty is enough to make me want to cry. The GTS is far louder, more aggressive and sharper. But for every day spirited driving and road trips, the S is great and I will save and use that more than $16,000 CDN for something else. That's a lot of money.
I have a 22 S with non air suspension and agree with u on repair costs and was reason I didn’t upgrade to air for 1.5k CAD more The dealer recently loaned me a S with air suspension and that thing is soft as hell and on stiffest PASM setting, it feels very loose and not sporty vs shock and spring PASM and glad I didn’t upgrade it
Macans are not real Porsches, they have Audi engines and even even the Pd 8K is an Audi unlike the 911s which is total Porsche these are just Audie with high price tags
lmfao Wrong sure it has the RS5 engine in it. The whole car has been redone by Porsche and hardly shares and Audi parts anymore. Should read up on the Macan before you make statements. If you made this statment about the 2015s it would be more correct lol.
The S is virtually the same in performance. The GTS exhaust is louder but that doesn't translate in much speed difference. This review is completely useless. In a straight line drag race there will literally be zero real world difference. Save your money and get the S.
@@capaldi328 That is total BS! There is a 0.3 second advantage with the GTS at best. That equates to virtually nothing in real world driving. I have the GTS so I am telling you with daily experience driving the GTS and having owned Porsche the last 15 years. It is not worth moving up the trim level. If you want the Macan get the S and save yourself 14k.

Just sold my 22' GTS for a 911 but I will tell you the GTS is superb in every way. GTS for the win!
