Ahoy, sailors! Enjoy my original sea shanty. I actually started writing this song in 2014! It was always one of my goals to go back and finish it and 2021's change of musical pace, along with the newfound popularity of sea shanties, gave me the perfect timing to do it! I like how it turned out :) Don't forget you can support my work on Patreon! www.patreon.com/miracleofsound GAMES IN VID: Skull and Bones Assassin's Creed - Black Flag Assassin's Creed - Valhalla Sea of Thieves Civilization VI Lost Ark Lineage 2 Oceans and Empires Greedfall TV SHOWS IN VID: Vikings Black Sails Game of Thrones
The world is in desperate need of more awesome shanties. That being said, this "folky" side of music seems to resonate really well with you, Gav, and that's awesome when seen in the context and breadth of your whole work!
I love it! So many people just make ordinary songs with a sailor's theme and call it a "shanty" but often forget that shanties are songs that sailors would sing while working. Normally one person would lead with the actual lyrics while everyone else chimes in for the short and recurring chorus. So refreshing to see a new shanty that actually is one.
Finally, a new song I can sing with my drunk buddies as we walk back home from pub. On a more serious note, it's a wonderful shanty, and I like it has a more "serious" and not light-hearted vibe like most of the popular shanties. I missed that feeling in a shanty/pirate music for quite some time now, thank you Gav.
You know, just when the world is starting to get me down, you come along and inspire me to keep going. You've been a huge help this past year. Thanks again Gavin.
God I’m so excited for this. Sea shanties? Amazing. Anything by Gav? Fantastic. Hoping this one does really well, seeing new original music is fantastic
I know yall are probably not gonna read this, but thank you for your music. So many people forget the point of games, to have fun, to fall into the stories of other people, and to go on the adventures of our dreams. Your songs are a reminder of fun and that adventure, thank you.
What I hate most about this song is how hard it is to find more like it. Nothing against traditional shanties, but this type of modern shanty with a powerful instrumental to back up the vocals just scratches an itch in my soul that I NEED to satisfy.
The inclusion of Greedfall made this just *so* much better, at least in my opinion. Unlike pretty much everything else you see in this shanty, it doesn't immediately spring to mind as something you would *associate* with a shanty, but if you stop and think about it, then yeah, it really does work.
A bit sad Gav hasn't done a Greedfall song, but yeah the Nauts definitely sings shanties because they're sailors. Sailors who more or less live constantly on the sea even.
There really needs to be more songs in this type of theme. Shanties are some of the most unique and exquisite music out there, and I am glad that there are those who are willing to provide such a gorgeous sound. This is definitely no exception as, hands down, this is beautiful straight through.
I am now here from release and can confirm, it is phenomenal. Even without the basis of a game or something else Gav can make great original music. Yet another great one for the lineup, which gives me high hopes going forward
Sounds fantastic! I have to say, I definitely get the "Viking" vibe most strongly from this, with the strong drumbeat, the deliberate pacing, and of course the title drop in the lyrics since oars were a regular part of longship propulsion as opposed from the primarily sail-driven vessels from the Age of, well, Sail. This makes it an excellent companion piece to "Valhalla Calling."
Man this gives me such a good feeling. I always loved sea shanties, and the fact they became pretty popular quite recently made me pretty happy. But not as happy as listening to this, just so great ! You always nail every damm song, it's incredible. Keep being such a wonderful lad, cheers from Brazil to anyone reading this :)
I used to work at Disneyland, more specifically the Sailing ship Columbia, I used to use this song driving into work before every shift to pump me up to sail the ship around the Rivers of America…thank you for making this wonderful song ❤
I happily play this whenever I'm a sailor or pirate in my video game's RPGS. I'm also proud of this seeing as I am Irish and my favorite pirate was Grace O'malley. Who was also the queen of the pirates!
Once again, so happy that I've deified Gavin in my D&D setting. I can just imagine teams of lutran and abyssians belting this out in the middle of a long voyage between Kingsfield and Hohenheim.
Man, while just about every song you make is absolutely fantastic, this is another excellent example why i always start hyping when you make an original song that isn't made with a specific game/ series/ movie in mind. Great work with yet another song @miracleofsound!

Very cool Gav. Love all the sailing scenes from different shows and games. A little disappointed that there wasn't any Pirates of the Caribbean in there (which I think is really where this song resonates with me), but knowing Disney's tyrannical copywrite system, it was probably for the best.
dear group "Miracle of Sound", I met you in 2021. You are truly a Miracle. Thank you for your songs and your creativity. I wish you to continue writing good songs and great music.
Here for the Premiere and it's sounds fantastic Gavin, started signing along with it as soon as the second verse hit so I'd say well done you definitely made it a catchy shanty. Good work, always excellent. P. S read the interview article you did recently and it was a lovely read and insight. Here's to you Gavin and all the best still for your future 💜👍
I don't know what happened, but this is a channel I haven't thought about in a long time. I just wanted to look up some sea shanties and I had no idea you can still make original sea shanties... I look forward to being here.
Truly awesome song. And you are incredibly talented. Every single song you've made proves how much you enjoy doing this so I hope you'll still find inspiration in the years to come.
Seriously love the more raw you guys make so many songs sound, makes you feel its you that is the sailor in question roving the 7 seas explorering, plundering and trading in new lands

Interesting to see you tackle any genre, and create an instant classic. I love your music man.
"Heave Ho...Onwards We Row.." It's catchy...and has a "I won't let anything stand in my way" feel to it. I like it.

It's super rare I say this but a looped version of this song would make me so happy. What a thumper!
UA-cam has a loop function. On pc, right click the video. On mobile, tap on the little three-dot symbol in the corner of the video.

In a world without gold, we might've been heroes!
Thatch... he drinks damnation.
I love this, it really feels like a song the crew of a ship would sing to pass time.
There's just no end to Gavin's talent is there? This is a brilliant song.
Don’t know why it almost made me crying.. beauty and power, love it.

This is something i've been expecting to happen since that Black Flag song
Not only is this song absolutely epic, but the video is also so on point. Gav, you did it again. Amazing. Now it's going to be in my head all night.
Such a great song! Glad I was able to catch it so quickly after the premiere.
I love how it tied in all the Assassins who sailed
Got actual shivers from the song! Also because the seas, the travellers which traverse it, have such a significant place in mankinds history.
