@@billybob2025 is it becuse of taste? I'm not a fan of seafood, but when I ask for the "whitest, least fishy taste" you can barley taste the fish after drying in batter.

I'm in SA and I've never seen bream on a menu here. I catch and release almost all my bream. The eastern states must have some great fish and chip shops ! One of the best i found was in the main street of Yepoon

Greg, if you ever decide to come to England to check out our chippies, for the love of all that's good, come to the North of England, it always perplexes me that in the South I can't get curry sauce on my chip butty, but up here in the North I don't think I'd be able to find a single chippy without curry sauce. You could even go as far North as Scotland and grab a deep fried mars bar.
deep fried mars bars are common in aussie takeaways. curry sauce isn't common though but indian food is.

this is how all fish and chips should be. cooked well. fresh. affordable price. local produced. good chips. nice lemons. cant beat that cobber..so sick of these rip of merchants fishos over charging and delivering sub par quality

A lot depends on the Quality and freshness of the oil . Dory is much higher up the eating scale than Bream .

in australia they like to slug the cobbers an extra charge for sauces mate, its bloody un australian so many of us refuse out of the principle and keep a tartar sauce in our car glove box or go without

A fish shop that puts a lot of ice on the trays is always a good sign.
"Scales" is sort of an unappetizing name for a resturaunt. It sort of sounds like something you wouldn't want to catch. LOL

It has a double meaning as it is both a restaurant and a fishmonger. Scales on the fish 🐟 and scales ⚖️ To weigh the fish
you should do a parallel series to this where you try to find the worst one too.

I agree with many down below, in that this is the best f&c review so far. 2 big bream fillets with lemon and a big serving of chips. It looked a little greasy at first, but then f&c usually is. Your reaction though told us the whole story! Nice camo too lol. Thanks again bud!

Next time you're traveling through to Brissie take the Gazza Rd exit and try Nick's Takeaway (13 Kuring Gai Ave, Tarragindi QLD 4121) Fish is ok, view is meh, but the hand cut chips are fantastic.
Looks good to me, the only fish and chip place i can easily access is Barnacle Bill's. I like their food so i don't mind😊

That is a good deal gerg i always look for fish and hcip shops under 10 bucks my local does salmon chips and salad for 9 bucks and extra buck for a can of soft drink. fresh fish and quality food at reasonable price and big serve also. for 8.50 thats a great deal mate and aussie bream and even some parsley garnish yummo u cant go wrong cobber !!
Do you get chippies over there still using beef dripping? They’re few and far between here in Yorkshire, but well worth hunting out because the flavour and texture of both the batter and chips is so much better than a veg oil. Those chips looked a bit like they’d come from a freezer though.
Great looking battered fish Grego, but I like my fish without the skin ..takes the taste away from the white flesh ...John dory and snapper are a must .
