Nice to finally see somebody demo a partial brake bleed or simply adding fluid. A full bleed may NOT always be necessary. I will try this "add" method on bike this weekend. Thanks!
I saw your video over a year ago and said "i better get that bleeder kit" , well today i finally needed it , and your instruction worked perfect , I love it !!! thanks for the hack !
This took all the intimidation out of bleeding brakes for me. I'd rather pull the brake lever then mess around with all that other stuff in the package. Thanks for the great tip! Oh and PS, my issue was created by the exact problem you described except I loaned the bike to a friend and that's how it came back.
been searching for over 3 days now and finally a guy that can actually explain it and that doesn’t cost over $100 for a bleed, thank u,this was so easy to understand
I was a beginner to mountain bikes, and at the beginning I decided to put dot three brake fluid in it and guess how that turned out not good bottom of the brake line these tips worked thank you
Thank you so much for this. Ive been wondering why the hell i need to drain all the oil from my brakes when they're just a little spongey. This is a great solution
Worked perfectly. I read an article and out advised to tilt the brake 45 degrees forward squeeze the brake untried bubbles stop then 45 degrees the other direction repeat until bubbles stop and then back to highest position and finish. I did have additional bubbles come up at the 45 degree tilts.
Haha for sure! What's funny is I crashed and cut that huge chunk out of the right grip the first day I got them. After that haven't actually ruined them too much!
I haven’t tried this method yet I’m gonna buy the kit online, however you got my subscription and notification, keep the hard work and keep it simple as always.
I didn't even know this was an option vs a full bleed! as a beginner, I appreciate seeing a simpler test before doing more complicated stuff that might be unnecessary yet. thanks!!
Thank yoouuuuu!!! I just bought a second hand bike online and it came with the front wheel off, finally managed to get it back on with the pads left closed together and had no idea why the break wasn't working!! I feel calm again haha
Thx had to change it up. Removed brake cable and then pumped brake lever to pull fluid into reservoir top side. Slower but it works...and the cheap American kit is really good. Thx again.
Worked like a charm. The best part is leaving all the extra stuff in the package and never using it! And it does take some persistence and a lot of squeezes. And jostling the bike a little, which dislodged some of the air bubbles I guess, but gently so the oil doesn't slosh out of the funnel.
eeasy wayto do it is instead of fulls squeezes the wshole time.... literally flick the handle ,you dont need to movei t much... just enough to cause internal movement... it works the best ... to make it even better tilt the bike to the sides as well as turning the handlebars to the max...will get a ton of air out
Hey man, super simple thank you.. I was wondering during how to do this upgrading my shimano brakes on my Surron Ebike.. same type of MTB brakes so this helped me alot. Cheers !!!
I was able to Burp my Rear brake without a funnel or ANY special tools .. Just leveled lever, used a normal syringe to keep the 'hole' where the screw was full of fluid as bubbles came up as a beat the Lever 50 times fast.. Little messy, but easy cleaning and worked like a charm!
Very good. Booked my bike at the bike shop to do this after messing it up. I had successfully done Shimano brakes with a kit but found it very difficult. tried again on another bike following this video. Nearly done it. 15-20 mins of getting bubbles out and back brake working again but still rather soft. Another go on the bubbles and I should be there. I now see the Tektro brake reservoir may have 2 fill points and I was using one a big large so got some leakage. Will try next time with another fill point
Thanks. I was search all over for a way to tighten my breaks as my front brake was not stopping the tire. It never accursed to my that my fluid was just low 😂
when you pump the lever to get the HD fluid down in the hose to the caliper.. use a vibrator (for massage ) to help get the bubbles out of the line.. You can rubber band the vibrator to the hose just blow handlebar height. That works well.. bubbles come right up to the reservoir funnel...
This is a lot easier than an actual bleed. The oil in my brakes is fresh and just needed a top off due to lost pressure from changing the brake pads. I imagine at some point the lines need to be completely flushed, but not anytime soon.
Pro tip, for Shimano brakes with a freestroke adjustment screw, from fully tight, back it off 3-4 full rotations before filling. This'll allow the system to be filled completely and give you manual adjustment capability later using the screw. If you leave the screw all the way in you can't adjust it later!
So I tried to do exactly what you did, but I could not get the brake fluid in... had only a few small bubbles. Is that enough? The brakes feel slightly better but not great. I want great. How do I get great? Lol
Last time my mechanic charged me 60€ for this. Thank you for saving me from another scam. Great video and easy to understand! 💪
People need paying. Time plus materials plus expertise. Not cheap. Think what dentists charge.
Excellent demo, staight to the point without needless bullshit

easiest tutorial I was looking for and this is the easiest one I found!. cheers mate
Thank you. I’m going to try this. Update: We did both of our Mountain Bikes and it worked great! Saved us $$. Thanks again.
Did it as he describes and it worked! Thanks "Bad Boy", you saved me grief and money by not going to a bike shop!
Glad I could help! Keep on shredding!
Straight to the point,no bullshit with syringe….great video
Did this technique a couple of weeks ago. Worked like a charm.
Congratulations for being the ONLY video that shows how to add fluid using ONLY the funnel and not a syringe, fucking great
Wtf is wrong with the sound?

The missing bar end plug! Keeping it realer than real! Hahahhahahaha! This is exactly the level of care and home maintenance my bikes get.
Thank you for this. I’m not very mechanically inclined by nature so videos like this really help out!
been searching for over 3 days now and finally a guy that can actually explain it and that doesn’t cost over $100 for a bleed, thank u,this was so easy to understand
Glad I could help!
i am saying same
I'll tell you more - you can use a syringe and Johnson's baby baby oil
Brilliant straight to the point video 👌

As stated below, was looking for a top up video and not a full break bleed, nicely done !!!
exactly what I needed, straight to the point thanks
@@Sup666-n8l glad I can help!
My new favorite repair expert (?) To the point, with humor. Works for me;)
Judging from the condition of your grips, you could do a crash and burn video! Great info, thanks!!!
Haha for sure! What's funny is I crashed and cut that huge chunk out of the right grip the first day I got them. After that haven't actually ruined them too much!

Best and funniest bike video I've seen In a while 😂
Totally saving in my mtb tips collection, cheers bro.
Love this vid.
I've only refilled my back brake fluid a few times but I always come to this video for reference.
Super simple.
Finally a realistic way of doing it!
I didn't even know this was an option vs a full bleed! as a beginner, I appreciate seeing a simpler test before doing more complicated stuff that might be unnecessary yet. thanks!!
That is such a well thought out, easy to understand video, cheers

This guy should be a car salesman.

Legendary video thank you sir
Thank you very much

Great job sir!!!!
Such a bad boy awesome video

Nice and simple! Thx man
great video, will this trick work on any hydraulic brake , I have Avid Elixers and wondering if the threads in funnels is the same?
It definitely should! The funnels all come in general kits, so I believe they should fit pretty much any hydraulic MTB brake system.
Thanks for your video. Even I understood it 👍👍👍
I like the video so very easy can I ask if the brake pad need to pull out from brake caliper when we add the oil mineral
Make sure that they are all the way in when adding the oil, preferably with wheel on, otherwise it will leak out.
very informative video😁👊💪 Needed this one
What's a bad boy? Couldn't find one at the bike store.
Well sounds like you are, Mr. Badbad Potter man
Pot noodle
😂
Watch u gonna do? Bad boys bad boys
A bad boy is a Cannondale urban bike model.

Yo, thanks man. Great video
awesomejob dude. thank you
My oil came only with a syringe can this be done with just filling with the syringe? I hope I can get that bad boy done.
Thanks for the info bad boy!
hi thanks so simple to do it tightened right up !!!
Very helpful, apprecaited
Bad boy bad boy whatcha ya gonna do? How many times did he say that? Great bid though. Thumbs up!
You are a legend Thanks
thanks willy. That was great.
Thanx brotha good stuff
Any mineral oil work? If tiny leak in handle - car engine oil is a bit thicker too, helps prolong replacment. Good idea?
Great video
thanks, it works!
So I tried to do exactly what you did, but I could not get the brake fluid in... had only a few small bubbles. Is that enough? The brakes feel slightly better but not great. I want great. How do I get great? Lol
Did you fix it? Try lifting front part of the bike so that place where air should exit is highest point of the bike.
You a lifesaver
Fabulous filming and information. Well done, your a top guy.
great job, thank you!
Nice Voddo MTB😊
