I still can’t believe that shy soft spoken teacher I found and her awesome video maker AKA Neiman is so strong confident and y’all have a store wow it seems like yesterday I came in not long after y’all started what an amazing journey I’m so glad and proud of you both ….. love to all including both families I know they were a huge help! Happy New Year y’all and to all in this amazing community 🙌💜🙌🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love them ❤❤❤
True.
Love that you’re going back to telling us the costs and profits. Really gets me motivated!!
OMGOODNESS! I’ve been hoping this set would get flipped. I’ve seen it in the back ground since the store opened. My bedroom furniture from the 80’s looks very similar to this. I’m so excited to see Lauren’s vision for this style of furniture!
what a great way to start off the new year then! (: thanks for watching!
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher Lauren, it’s fabulous! The gold adds just the right touch! It doesn’t look the the 80’s furniture anymore. Funny white is the color that I’ve wanted (for years) to paint my set that is similar to this one. You’re so very creative & have such a stunning vision for all of the pieces you do. I’ve not ever one time been disappointed by your flips. I’m always in awe.
It never ceases to amaze me how much paint can change a piece.
My 2024 goal is to try at least100 new recipes this year.
I agree! it always amazes me too! I love that goal! sounds delicious!
Wishing you the very best in 2024. Thank you for sharing your fruniture flipping adventures.
Same to you! thanks for joining us!
Would've loved to see you repair that veneer strip with a new piece but bondo works too
when I am just painting, i feel there is no need to replace it since you won't see it anyway. honestly the bondo will probably hold up better than veneer anyway 🤣🤣 thanks for watching!
Really like the gold accent and for sure elevated the set. Excited to see future projects. Very inspiring.
agreed! thanks for watching!
My forward moves for 2024 include preparing and organizing my workspace. I am just getting started, however I have previous successful furniture restoring experience. We are both recently retired and have begun massive reorganization of our home, greenhouses, and storage. In anticipation of having our whole garage dedicated to furniture flipping, I’ve been making purchases of tools, paints, and all other supplies. I am so excited for spring, as we will finish the space, and I will be able to begin. I plan also to videotape from the beginning. So, onward and upward!
Beautiful job ❤ Great kick off to 2024!
appreciate it! thanks for watching!
I'm nearing retirement and you're firing me up to do this as a nice side gig. Looks like fun!
Happy New Year y’all!🎊🎊 I’m loving the flip. Once weather is a little warmer my vintage lady friends will be thrifting. We’re 75 and cold doesn’t work for us.😃Keep sharing your beautiful flips!! Thanks!!💕💕
Tomorrow I'll be purchasing my first peice of furniture to flip. It's a jewelry cabinet with a few scars, but otherwise a nice piece.
that's awesome! good luck!
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher Thank you for all your helpful videos.

This was an awesome flip. I love the white with gold trim. Looks so modern now.
I can’t wait to see all the things you do this year and learn as much as I can. Happy New Year to you and your family❣️
Happy new year!! I am super excited to see what this year has in store!
Thanks for highlighting profits again I missed that part. Watching from the get go. Love your journey
Happy New Year!!!!
Happy new year!
GREAT JOB AS USUAL LAUREN !!
Looks great. And while some people may look at it as "profit," they forget that your labour time has to be costed into the project too, as well as a portion of your basic monthly overheads of electricity, rent, transport/petrol, etc., plus maintenance of your tools and other miscellaneous expenses.
if you want to get THAT technical, that's fine but at the end of the day whether I account for an hourly wage or not, everything ends up going back to me since its my biz. for these numbers i am simply showing what i spent for THIS flip and what I earned at the end. thanks for watching
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher Wow. You certainly misread my tone here. I was trying to be supportive. But if you want to be THAT snotty,, t'm an accountant and was merely pointing out that the amount made on your flip is GROSS, NOT NET, PROFIT. - that means money made before any business expenses are deducted. You have a shop, yes? So you have overheads/expenses - both regular monthly expenses like rent, electricity, phone, transport, etc. and unexpected ones like repairs - that have to be deducted from the gross profit in order to arrive at an actual net profit of your "flip." This is not being "technical," this is how accounting works - and you should know that as a business owner. And not once did I mention anything about an hourly wage - but I know why you mentioned it. Tell your viewers the full truth of the cost of your flips, and not just half the story. to make it sound more profitable than it actually was. Therefore "everything does not end up going back to you." Oh, and don't forget you have to pay taxes on any profits you make too, which also needs to be taken into account at some point. And no problem, there's MANY channels out there that have given me great creative ideas for furniture.
I appreciate your professional insights and your support for the creative side of my channel. You're absolutely right; the gross profit from flips isn't the whole financial picture, and there are various costs involved in running a business that must be considered.
Transparency is key, and I aim to keep my content as clear and straightforward as possible. The figures I share are meant to highlight the direct costs and earnings related to the individual flip projects to keep the process understandable for viewers at different levels, including those just starting out without a retail space.
Of course, I'm aware of and attentive to the overheads, taxes, and other business expenses that come with running a shop. These aspects are managed within the broader scope of my business finances. I find that discussing these details can sometimes overwhelm the core message I'm trying to convey about the flipping process itself.
I value the community here and the diverse perspectives everyone brings, including the important reminders about the full spectrum of business operations. Thank you for contributing to a comprehensive discussion. I'm glad to hear the channel has sparked some creative ideas for you!
WOW 🎉 Wonderful set. Its so delicate and so beautiful. You did a great job!🎉
Hulda desde Puerto Rico 🎉 Lots of Blessings on 2024.
The dresser and nightstands turn out beautiful.you do really nice work,👍 until next time God bless..❤
Wow, the Cotton color really updated this piece. Love that. I'd have loved it as is, but appreciate that the new owner wanted the jazz of the guilding. Great job, Lauren!
Oh a lot of work/love went into this project. It turned out perfectly! I love your attention to detail. I’m so excited for 2024’s adventures for you two! B~}
appreciate your support! thanks for watching!
Really beautiful work! The added gold gilding wax was just the right touch it needed to break up all the white. Great start to the new year. Looking forward to what 2024 will bring. Happy New Year!
Thank you very much! I thought so too! Happy new year!
Thank you for your profit breakdown! Your video editor is killing it, by the way. I have been flipping for nearly a year and hope to start a YT channel this year. Thank you for all the inspiration!
That set turned out perfect! What an improvement. So happy to hear about the plans for flipping next but keep us posted on how the store and Airbnb are doing. You guys have worked so hard so now it is time to see the financial pay offs. 😀
I love your content and the origin of this channel. My goals for 2024 are in the works and hoping to hear news soon before I'll know. But I'm hopefully can't wait. In the meantime, I have some plans to redo some of my furniture just to update it. May start with my bedroom pieces just to make them all match. Last year we started with a bath reno and we are about 75% done, so I'm thinking of mimicking the vanity on the bedroom dresser and side tables.
Your building skills serve you well ! The base is secure. The set with the gold gilding wax elevated the look ❤. Well done. I admire the profit tracking too ! It’s a great teaching tool for people interested in flipping 👍
thanks so much! excited to really track things this year! 😊
Beautiful! The gilding wax made these pieces..
agreed! just the touch they needed!
What a beautiful set Lauren!! I love the white at the minute it's fresh, neutral and clean but that gold touch...classy!! Loving the woodwork side of your new you but in the UK it's hard to get the dixie bell etc and they have such lovely products 😊
DBP is available in the UK! they ship international I believe.
Ooh wow will look into that then ty Lauren ❤
Such an amazing job! Everything about it was fantastic! You do an excellent job! I don't care for the look of that style of furniture, but what you done for it was enough to make a person like me say, " I wouldn't mind owning it." The color with the gold touch and raising it up a bit did the trick. And I have always been told to keep track of your time when you plan on selling the item and charge for it. Time Is Money!
Beautiful. She got a real bargain. Nice custom made pieces
Love it. I have my first piece picked out but not sure what color(s). The weather here is too cold and I dont have an inside space. Love your work and the videos. New to the channel so playing catch up for now.
totally get it! its hard to flip in the cold months for sure! but you can use this time to learn a lot so you’re ready to go come spring! 😊
I’ve been watching your videos for weeks now prepping to flip a dining room table. I was driving down the road and saw a Dixie Belle sign - I didn’t realize I live in the same city it’s made! Felt like something is telling me to abandon the paint I was going to use and go buy some lol.
I love how this turned out. My goal is to learn how to flip furniture so it can be my retirement gig in a couple of years
That's lovely Lauren! Really like the addition of the gold to the drawers - definitely kicked it up a notch, and elevating all the bases to increase height was a great idea. Great start to the year - keep it going.
thanks so much! appreciate your support! Happy New Year!
Gotta pay off the truck I got for flipping furniture, by flipping that furniture 🤣
love that!
Hi Lauren, I have been watching you for years and love your videos. They are so informative and you are adorable. I have a question; how do you decide whether you spray or brush paint your piece? What do you prefer? Thanks! God Bless!!
How do you decide which paint to use?
Call me a odd ball but i like the furniture in this video in its original finish with the veneer repaired etc. but that's just me.
yeah, feel like it could've look good in its original state with a new bas potentially! definitely very unique!
Lovely piece! I've been looking for inspiration on how to redo a blonde tall dresser I have. I think this combo of colors would look great in my room. I wish you were closer to be able to do my piece. Just curious, why don't you include your time in your total cost?
I have a question about your velvet chairs. When you take the skirt off of a chair, do you finish the edge that's left after removing the skirt? Your pieces are all beautiful. The Goodwill store in Fremont where I live doesn't have a whole lot to choose from. By the way, I love your store. It's very creative and interesting. Love the big flowers in the bathrooms and the paint brush wall. Keep up the good work, you two. God bless you both. 😊❤❤
How long should you wait after the primer dry before painting. Also how long dose it usually take for the paint to dry? Just found some funriter in my apartment complex that i'm working on. I sand it today. Going to get some primer and paint tommrow hopefully. This my first project so i have no idea if it's even going to come out right but it's worth a try.
Awesome! Love your channel! How do you get your customers to happily agree to extra costs??? People I sell to always want me to negotiate the price of the furniture and lower the price by $15 or more. I do not like to do that because I put in hard work on the projects too. Advice?
FFT, in your opinion, what is the best paint for furniture when it comes to ease of use and durability?
beautiful piece! Where did you get that corner clamp? I don't see it listed in the products used. thanks Lauren!
I got mine at Menards
How do you open these drawers?
Awesome work....what you need, having that much of a space in that shop is 1 or 2 4' x 8' work table, you'll work much, much better. More comfortable. :)
That's the plan! I am working on building some table space and storage cabinets!
Awesome! You definitely need them..
Looks great! Where did you get the aqua lamp?
Homegoods! its actually a Thomasville and I love it!
When you label your drawers, what do you write? Sounds Ike a dumb question, but with multiple drawers, I was curious .
Very pretty set and profit ($1050)divided by the 12 hours($87.50)you put into this set is wow. Good job 👍
Very nice! thanks for doing the math! pretty great hourly amt! thanks for watching!
I noticed that you didnt do any sanding after priming?
This should remain a side hustle. Like the mechanic who does side work at home, if he quits his day job or works as an independent contractor, it can come back to haunt him.
Teacher loses not only pension and if you don't pay into the social security system, you not getting anything.
From teenager to 62, time flies! Unless you are extremely successful, you can't go through life without "A" real job. There's no future in it.
Have the pic's of the Buffet don't know how to send them off my phone to you though !!!!
Furnitureflippingteacher@gmail.com
Did you paint the edges of the drawers any at all? With a brush.? Or did the sprayer do it all.
I did it with a brush! I missed getting that part on cam but yeah! you can either do it before or after you spray!
Thanks! I love learning and watching your shows
What brand of corner clamp did you use?
I got it from menards but not sure of the brand
❤
Hey, love your videos! Quick question, have you ever found bed bugs in a thrifted piece? That's one thing that scares me about thrifting.
Nope! just do a good check and you should be okay!
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher That makes me feel less scared, thank you!
What about labor. What do u charge per hour
What ratio do you use when spraying the chalk paint?
4 oz flotrol with 16 oz chalk paint
It would be great to track your project profits l. It would also be interesting to see how these cover your monthly expenses like taxes, utilities, rent & wages. Coming from a different country all of these costs would be very different. I love your work & wish you both all the success you deserve.
thanks! i am not sure we'll be sharing all those numbers for for sure the profits for now!
😊😊😊
Question: In your cost breakdown i didnt hear you mention the several years of storage dee costs or taxes. Are you not counting storage fees? Are you claiming your flips as income and paying taxes on them?
I am solely talking about the numbers on this furniture set.
Yes, we pay taxes.
What did you go to college for?
The only problem with your cost analysis is, you've not taken into account of the rent for your building, the electricity used, the heat you've used and if you pay for water, that too! The other thing is, you have to build into your prices a figure that helps with replacement tools. If your sander burns out you need to replace it. Not that one refurbished item will stand the cost of the new tool, Having a small portion in each piece build up a kitty for those eventual replacements will help in the end. No matter how small the cost of one screw is, you have to replace those parts each time you create something. Like the filters for your paint, I'm not sure how much they are but you would have used one for the primer, one for the paint and one for the top coat! Each small thing adds up in the end to be a dollar figure so my suggestion would be to actually account for all the smalls because you will need gas money when you have to run to the store to get more smalls!
*She should add up the amount of oxygen she spent pre hour too*
In your expenses, did you include overhead for building rental, utilities, etc? Also, what tax bracket are you in with all this personally and as a business.
I don't think its a fair thing for you to ask what tax bracket i am in? that's an interesting question for someone...I know i don't go around asking people that! for these numbers we're simply talking about the flip and the amount of money put in vs what i charged. not trying to get too technical.
I am not sure if profit is the exact word to use. You made $1050 for 12 hours labor including your expertise and the use of your equipment. The laborer is worthy of her hire. Blessings.
What do you charge for your 12 hours of labor? Once you subtract that cost, then you have a true profit. Love your flipping furniture videos. Newman, great job on your videoing this.
I don't ever really consider an hourly wage. even if I did, that's still profit to me cause its all the $$ i earned. I didn't earn less cause I had to pay myself. so an hourly wage to me is the $1050 divided by the 12 hours worked. but that's also my profit. i consider it as one in the same.
Cool, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🕊️✌️😀😃😄😁🤗
Are you including rent and utilities in your profits calculations?
no, I am only including my profits for this flip. we have other revenue streams that cover those types of things.
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher would love a video where you mention these things candidly. I know you are trying to sell your class, but as Christina from Pretty Distressed mentioned, her real income is from social media.
here’s a video explaining a bit more about how I look at it and understand it at the moment instagram.com/reel/C2YKegbu8Pz/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Did you take into account the number of hours spent on it?
Lauren, please use a respirator with the Bondo and do a voiceover for that portion. Those chemicals are so strong they could even in danger future offspring. It’s so serious, I am very worried for you. And not just you but anybody in that building. Don’t get me wrong I think you’re using the right product please demonstrate using it safely if not for yourself then for others watching that might be harmed if they copy you.
Great flip...excellent profit....I received a message saying I won the Wagner sprayer, but, when I try to respond , I get an error message...also, the number provided does not recieve emails. I hope someone isn't trying to impersonate you. You may want to look into that?. Happy New Year.
yes that’s a scam. we’re aware of it but its out of our control. don’t respond or pay anyone please! we pinned a comment on the top of that video to notify people!
