Why can't we cook something special for us?? I think it's not only about health, sometimes we can't spare time to cook our favourite dish.
It happens with me too.
I think the reason is priority.
Family is always on top priority.
In my family, we have 3 generation like your family.
Normally, when my in-laws go anywhere, I cook my favourite dishes honestly.
Aisa nahi he ke vo muje mana karte he, but bachcho ki demand different he, and in-laws ko vo suit nhi karta, to unke lie kuchh alag banana pdta he. Fir khud apne lie banane kakabhi khayal hi nhi aata...
And, hamara brought up hi aise hota ge k sabki care karna hmari duty he, kabhi ye nahi sikhaya gaya k hme apni bhi care karni chahie. Ye baat ab aapse sikhi he.

Kiran ji actually wo log sach mein sahi bolte hain kyun k mein 1 asst prof. Hun morden hun but mein jis family mein shadi kar karke aai hun wo 1 conservative family hai. Yaha pe apne liye khana banana to dur agar medicine bhi leti hun pucha jata hai kya kha rahi hun. Mere husband nehi bolte but saas bolti rehti hai. Mein to jo bhi khati hun hamesa taunt mara jata tha aur avi bhi marte hain. Aur avi mere pura bemari ka package ban gai hun. Or hamare yaha 3 4 sabji na ho khana logon k gale se utarta nehi. Roj house hold chores k sath office mein 10 hrs bitane ka baad our enrgy nehi rehti karne k liye. Bahut tired ho jati hun. But han jab ghar mein akeli rehti hun thoda energetic hoti hun to kosis karti hun apne liye healthy banaun

Mam, i am a mother & homemaker. ideally i think its not correct that we make something different cooking for us. If we are making healthy food, then entire family shuld have the same. Littlebit extra or different dish is okay, but not entire meals shuld be cooked differently. Answering your question, yes its abt time, energy & resources but for me above point mentioned is more imp.
