    For more DC power, feel free to equip the Ring of Chaotic Fascination (+2 DC) & the Bracers of Mindbreak (+2), for a big +4 boost total over what I had! That's definitely close to 70 DC WITHOUT Expanded Arsenal!
    Also, don't forget there are MANY ways to debuff the enemy saves, such as irresistible always in effect auras, I cover them all on my Debuffing Guide here:

    Hideous laughter also got a buff a few patches ago. Before, if the enemy was immune to prone, then hideous laughter wouldn't actually do anything even if they failed their saving throws. They fixed this, so that it now effects prone immune creatures. Big buff against gargoyles, succubi, etc...

    This is exactly the kinda build I was looking for! Last Azata playthrough I went with a full blaster caster, and while I was thinking about your mutation warrior build I just prefer mage characters. Also I won't need to bring Nenio for crowd control. I might change some aspects up since I play on lower difficulties but thank you for at least a template for how to make something like this.

      I have also found it to be one of the most fun builds!
      I was not expecting Hideous Laughter + Best Jokes to be so fun and effective, especially thanks to how easy it is to stack Enchantment DC in Wrath even on Unfair.
      Plus we also get other spells for enemies immune to it such as Greater Command: Halt!

    • @ragvald8835

  • @akatama9829
    @akatama9829 Рік тому +6

    Two small things:
    1. You can get a +6 Believe in Yourself by using Fiery Spell Weaver and the Robe of Seven Sins from DLC 3 (unlike some other pieces, this one is guaranteed loot from the second set of isles). You can buff and then swap the pieces away. A bit tedious, but it helps with the ugly looking 49 CHA score.
    2. Kindred Half Elves have the highest DC. 21 starting CHA puts them on par with Kitsune/Tiefling, but you can also take Improved Elven Immunities for another +1 DC to Enchantment spells.
    And a small bonus, DLC 3 is littered with Greater Persistent rods.
    All in all I love Enchanters. A lot of people complain about certain encounters (Demodand Conspiracy or Vavakia Vanguards for instance). Greater Command absolutely neuters them. It's an insane spell that even works on the final boss (even though it shouldn't, it has Compulsion keywork in tabletop but not here).

  • @connorgaskill7653
    @connorgaskill7653 Місяць тому +6

    Strongly recommend going kindred raised half elf on this and maxing charisma.
    In act 1, you have an 85% chance of dazing most human enemies and grease trips like 60% of the time.
    Skipping greater spell pen and picking it up later by mostly forgoing ray attacks is also very strong.
    You can also take improved elven immunities for +1 to enchantment DC as well (if you really want it).
    Overall the most effective act 1 & 2 pure caster I've used so far!

    This build is so godly. Just had my first experience of just how ridiculously huge the jump of Hideous Laughter can be. I have been on a roll for Azata Builds lately, it's one of my favorite early game mythics since the first Superpower you get at M4 can make a HUGE difference for some builds, mostly Favorable Magic!
      And unlike Demon or Aeon with their uses/day Mythic Abilities, it's a passive so always in effect.

      @@cRPGBro Yeah ive noticed! for me azata is my go to just because of the roleplay and stuff exclusive to it (aivu, floating island etc). Trickster is like very obviously insane but I just cant justify the roleplaying aspect in a game this long lol. maybe if camellia was the only person in drezen it would click.
      Side note, how the hell do you do such detailed guides? I can beat a playthrough in like 60 hrs now that Ive finished the game like 7 times but like multiple a week is insane!

    I know rationally that's pure coincidence that this vid went up the same day I posted a comment on your Azata vid asking about building a blasty azata (since videos take a lot of time to make and upload, to my understanding), but this still works out like a response to that, one saying "forget blasting, be a god of save or die azata like this instead!"

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  Рік тому

      I have not tried a pure damage focused Azata yet, mostly because the truth is damage spells in Wrath are very underwhelming until around the mid/upper mid & late game, besides Mythic Angel & Lich spells.
      However, this build not only has the very fun "save or die" tier spells but also gets Zippy Magic eventually to fry enemies with double Chain Lightning and such!

    I played an enchantment specialist, but mine was nine tails sorcerer (kitsune archtype) with fey-bloodline. You got lots of enchantment and illusions via the nine-tails feature which scaled higher than normal cause 1/2 HD + Cha formula than spell level + Cha mod formula (because they are spell-alike abilities). Also played trickster than azata, but seriously; mythic trick (persuasion) owns enemies hard if ramp up the persuasion checks (and later enemies literally try to kill themselves instant combat starts). All other mythic trick shenanigans (extra enchantments on gear or doing double food buffs) are icing on top.

    Crossblood sorc is being slept on tbh, i think you overlook the benefit of the extra category of monsters your spells affect. I think that's very much worth a handful of spell dc (of which 2 of come from the goggles in the threshold i dont have yet, aka the very latest area in the game). Spellwise you can get all the good ones from Loremaster + Arcane bloodline and this is without Red Salamander Ring or Bracers of the Stormlord. You just need another caster to handle the buffs.
    15 crossblood/5 loremaster gives me a 60 dc on Overwhelming presence at 20 (ONLY self-buffed as Elf azata +cha buff/ode to miraculous magic/steel songs and conflagrant taco) the big difference being that it works on Undead too, ie think one-shotting Alderpash in Ineluctable Prison. In fact you can swap to Serpentine bloodline and affect mobs like i think Playful Darkness as well. Depending on your progress, it might be nice in early/mid with Serpentine bloodline and Undead bloodline mid/late game. Interesting note: the Ring of Triumphant advance + Incredible Might add another 2 spell dc to both Weird and OP
    Just make sure you pick Fey as your main and Undead as your secondary, otherwise you lose out of Fey magic at lv15. Then Arcane as 'second bloodline' mythic.

      It's why for example I pick Hypnotism at level 1, Hideous Laughter for free at level 5 (and then you also get Best Jokes at level 5-6 at First Mythic). Grease & Glitterdust also help for enemies immune to mind affecting or with high SR early.
      You then shift into Greater Command Halt at level 10 for the mid game, to catch enemies immune to Hideous Laughter due to knockdown immunity.
      Greater Focus + Spell Pen feats are also achieved as early as possible for an increase in power during the early levels.

    I havent watched it yet, but it seems along the same lines as my sylvan sorc. It wasnt completely min maxed, as I took spell focus and greater spell focus in 4 different schools and no mythic spell focus due to being very mythic ability starved. I did enjoy it both as Azata and switching to Devil. Dominate monster and hellfire ray spam is great (both work with zippy magic), and the decrees (but not the seals so much which are incredibly situational) are actually very solid. Decree of the hunt is a massive AB and decent damage boost that can be precast. Hell's fire is a swift action, suped up stormbolts that uses ascendent element fire not electricity (generally much better), endless war is a high DC confusion effect. You cannot self buff with the spell school decrees, and the spell school restriction is any in case quite bad.
    The rank 10 abilities, sword of heaven abolish guile and demonic rage with aspect of the brimorak can make hellfire ray extremely scary, alternatively, aspect of the incubus can push your spell DCs very high. Overwhelming presence spam is also really nice. This is basically Areelu and inevitable excess only however, which is a real shame. I am not optimistic at this point, but I really hope rank 10 is moved in enhanced edition. It does somewhat ruin a lot of really nice features.
    All of your uses of hell's authority and hell's seals and hell's decrees can be reset twice a day with 2nd wind, so 9 uses of hell's authority, or up to 27 demonic rages, 18 sword of heavens, or more likely some combination of both, and 30 uses of both seals and decrees.
    I was around 48 DC with spells and decrees, and not optimised in terms of feat selection and gear, before applying demonic rage aspect of the incubus. On core, with favourable magic, enemies almost never saved, and I had these DCs for illusion and enchantment, and slightly lower for evocation and conjuration. Unfortunately, the boots which make every 4th cast of the same spell make the next spell quickened does not work with hellfire ray used as the devil ability when I last tried.
    I honestly think this is one of the few builds where Devil actually feels good.
    You do have to give up believe in yourself (you get it in inevitable excess though), songs of steal, robes of mephistopheles and your caster level is stuck at 14 for your azata spellbook. Also you lose Aivu (which since her nerf really isnt that big a deal). Finally, no bestow grace, which is a huge loss to saves. The pure Azata is more powerful (if you ignore rank 10), but needs to rest significantly more often.

      @@cRPGBro As I say, I am not sure there are many other builds which can really take advantage of it. I have a feeling the DCs of the abilities are charisma based (may be highest stat), and you would need some degree of optimisation for spellcasting in terms of gear, feat selection and ascendent element fire for the abilities to actually be useful, and without 2nd wind and zippy magic, I think it would be considerably less effective, so thats Aeon out. So you are looking at oracle and sorcerer Azata that have the feats and gear for fire and enchantment magic.

I looked through your Unfair Bosses Playlist and either it is not there or i did not see your linked Video thanks for that! My Party was composed of my Azata Sorcerer, Camellia, Daeran, Sosiel, Sheela and of course a Skald. To be fair i still have to have a second and more follow through look at your AB and AC Stacking guides. So far i never reached the 90+ AB or AC. However most encounters where very much handable for my Party until that point. I died multiple times at Areelu to the point where i lowered the difficulty to finish my playthrough. While i got to the Point of being able to finish the first phase of her encounter, as soon as the summons here copies they tend to simply delete my party.
      I love the game and your videos trivialized the difficulties below hard so far for me. I don't understand how he gets such a high spell DC. At 34:12, when he hovers over the Hideous Laughter spell (heightened to level 3) we see it's DC is 56. Let's try to break it down:
    Basic DC -- 10 + 3 (spell level) + 19 (cha modifier) = 32
    Gear bonus -- 2 (necklace) + 1 (robe) + 2 (gloves) + 2 (goggles) + 3 (staff) = 10
    Other -- 4 (spell focus, greater spell focus, with mythic spell focus) + 2 (school power) + 2 (fey bloodline) = 8
    That's a total of 50. Even if we assume he took the demongraft (wasn't mentioned), that's still only 52. Since this build is so dependent on having a high DC it would've been nice if this was broken down. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?
    This is pretty important since in the late game DC of 52 isn't that high (on unfair). Most enemies have saves around 40. So a DC of 56 is very nice (especially since the spell can be heightened 6 more levels, making the DC 62, which is only beatable on 20 even for most endgame enemies) but 52 is much less reliable, even if we heighten to 9th level it's still a DC of 58, which is like 20% success chance for late game enemies. And that's using our best spell (meaning the one we have the most DC bonuses for) on the highest level. If we try a non-enchantment or non-mind affecting spell, or if we heighten to less than 9th, the enemy would most likely succeed the save. So it's really important to know where this considerable DC bonus comes from.
    And I know it's very easy to increase DC with Expanded Arsenal, but I don't like abusing it and I was under the impression that this build doesn't abuse it either.

      There is also +1-3 from sacrificing spell slots as Overwhelming Mage.
      +2 from Azata spell Songs of Steel
      And I forgot a Ring (Ring of Chaotic Fascination, end of Chap 02) that adds another +2, and there's also Bracers of Mind Break (Chap 04) for another +2.
      So if anything I ended up missing +4 easy to have permanent DC.
      There are also multiple ways to irresistibly debuff enemy saves without spending an action such as:
      1. Display of Power Belt for -2 to Will aura
      2. Dark Aura from The Undying Love of the Hopebringer Shield, for -2 to mind affecting aura
      3. Robes of Mephistopheles for -4 aura to mind affecting
      Not to mention activated irresistible debuffs such as Evil Eye for -4 & Visions of Madness for up to -10 at once!
      Last but not least, don't forget Favorable Magic Superpower forces enemies to roll twice and pick the WORST result when attempting to save vs your spells.

    Not sure if you have looked into it, but is a lich arcane trickster battering ray specialist able to outclass hellfire ray builds? You should be able to get 7 battering blasts, so with high sneak attack dice, this might be fairly powerful. Unfortunately, elemental specialists can no longer convert force damage to fire for all the fire specific gear, so my instinct is that this cannot compete with hellfire ray builds.

    • @flavioromano8754
      @flavioromano8754 Рік тому

      Battering blast as a lich is very good. the damage is soo high!
      so as a lich one can get very high caster level, even caster level 40 with gear buffs and whatnot. a caster level 40 means 8 rays from battering blast. each battering blast does a bull rush maneuver on the opponent, which means that if you have the death rush lich power it will do its additional damage on every ray that hits the enemy. on top of that the eclipse chill lich power adds 2d8+mythic rank cold damage to all you spells, and that is per instance of damage, so it is 2d8+ mythic rank damage on every ray of battering blast AND it has a chance of making the enemy vulnerable to cold and negative damage, which means they would take 50% more damage from those sources.
      then if you take the lich power that allows you to change your energy damage to negative energy, the battering blast with death rush and eclipse chill will do negative damage ( it tested and it does in fact change the damage from battering blast from force to negative energy) reaching very high damage over 1500 points of damage for each battering blast if you bolster empower and maximize it.

    • @notalefty999
      @notalefty999 Рік тому

      @@flavioromano8754 Eclipse chill has a few problems. First, the main appeal, the negative energy vulnerability, allows a not very high DC save. Your BBs will hit hard enough to one shot most enemies, and the tough enemies where it matters will probably save. Secondly, its very finite. Thirdly, its competing with much better lich powers.
      Fear control is +4 to hit. If you arent otherwise guaranteed to hit your target, this is a very large damage increase (if you had a 50% chance to hit, its now 70%, a 40% damage increase). The touch AC of the hardest enemies in the game like playful darkness and areelu are far from trivial (well, before you use corrupt magic anyway).
      Death rush is up to +10d6 per projectile without limitation.
      Deadly magic breaks all immunities and stops enemy spell casting, which is incredibly useful, though to be fair, you can reply on your phylactery.
      But no way you should take death of elements AND eclipse chill if you focus on BB.
      Also, you wont bolster, because sneak attack damage adds way more. Metamagic in general is not very effective, because the large majority of the damage will come from sneak attack and death rush, which arent affected by metamagic. Its mainly useful for allowing you extra spell slots, and I would certainly prioritise quicken, especially if playing a sorc.
      Cast level 40 is pretty optimistic too. Yes, at mythic rank 10 with the right staff, robe and with both spell specialisation and school mastery, you can add +8 to caster level, and hit caster level 32 with dark rites before gear and feats.
      But mythic rank 10 is so late as to be meaningless, using the caster level staff is instead of edge of force, and to qualify for arcane trickster, you need to drop another caster level. So with caster level 30 at mythic rank 9, I would just take cloak and spell specialisation, use the dagger and save a mythic feat and settle for 7 projectiles.
      Still, but rank 9 and the ineluctable prison tome, with sense vitals, you can have 13d6 sneak attack, another 2d6 from treacherous flame (though either you break edge of force with death of elements or take ascendent element fire which isnt ideal) and 9d6 from death rush, so 29d6+10 from edge of force per projectile, which is a little shy of 800 per cast.
      Its not as damaging as the best hellfire ray builds, but you can use an extra 3 spell levels worth of slots on it, or use the higher level slots on other powerful spells instead, and its going to one shot most things. Its also a lot more damaging than the best hellfire ray lich build specifically.
      Not sure how you are realistically getting 1500 per blast though.

      @@flavioromano8754 Blandly asserting something does make it true, and given the points you overlooked (bolster not working with sneak attack for example), I will take your claims without any supporting explanation with a pinch of salt.
      The portion of damage that is affected by metamagic is 35d6+70. Before metamagic is applied, this is a little under 200 (I think it average 192.5). With both empower and maximise, the damage is 420. That is in increase of a little over 200, which is substantial, but its not 800 to 1500, more like 800 to 1000. I can only assume you are factoring eclipse chill debuff with death of elements, but a realistic DC for eclipse chill at endgame is mid 30s. Enemies which arent being 1 shot by 800 damage generally arent going to fail against that DC.
      Is increasing a 3rd level spell to an 8th level spell worth it for a 25% damage increase? No, not in of itself. You might reasonably argue that this combo for battering blast is so overpowered its worth casting this spell with an 8th level spell slot, but that has a lot more to do with the base spell damage, not the metamagic damage increase.
      With a 7th level spell, you could be casting twice in a round, which is far more beneficial. Alternatively, you could use highten spell and be able to cast the spell at any level between 3 and 9, and any level between 7 and 9 with quickened also. This is a lot more practical if you want to use the extra spell slots on the spell.

      I do really want to play Azata with Aivu, but I guess it is not strong as lets say Trickster or an Angel, but it will probably be better for me to find a more melee focused build for my first complete Unfair playthrough. Maybe a Skald will be a good fit...
