  • Join us this week on Aboard Mermaid Monster as we get takin out to Fish! If you are a familiar viewer of our show, then you will have seen that we aint so great at fishing haha. Cheaper2charter in Annapolis offered to take us out for the day and give us some basic pointers! It totally paid off as we now feel a bit more educated In the fishing department. Captain Butch took the time to share with us how fish navigate finding food and how we can simulate that in order to catch our own fish. We all had a great time but I think Penn enjoyed this experience the most. We got to go faster than 7 knots which was extremely refreshing, and Penn grew a deep love for the sport that day. He still fishes regularly and does not plan on stopping. We are very grateful for that. We see we have quite a few new faces here. Please say hi down below if you are new (or not new). We love hearing from you!! We will be fast forwarding a bit in the coming weeks to catch you all up to real time! Thanks for stopping in and enjoying all things trawler and cruiser life!

Great editing. I truly enjoyed the day on the water with a family that knows how to enjoy life. Getting to meet Rooney, who is blessed with the kindest heart and loves her little brother, and Penn who is going to be a great fisherman was a joy. Such a great family! Keep practicing your fishing skills! Tight lines!!!

Superb episode with you guys learning the art of fishing. Making great family time videos and memories. Very nice for the opportunity to have fishing lessons from an expert. Blessings for safe sails and good fishing (catching too). 👍🇺🇸😎...

I really enjoyed this video it brought back a lot of memories most of my boating experience when I was young was on one of my dad's Puker's (charter boats) on the pacific along the Oregon coast we considered anything under 4 to 5 foot swell to be calm. Thanks again for a fun video

Great post Brooke. I agree with the idea of the " time delay " as privacy is also very important to me and I'm sure the majority of your peeps here. I would keep this practice going. Just smart conduct in this day and age. Blessings to you and your family and your efforts and plans. 😇 stay safe, free, happy and healthy. ⛵🌴🌞

Another lovely video. Love the music and truly envy your way of life. 🤗😎 Penn is a quick learner, but I’m sure Rooney will pick up and soon lead the way in fishing the biggest catch 🐟

Catch fish by trolling 25-35 yards behind a moving boat at about 5-8 knots a lure that travels about 10 feet below the surface with a teaser line about 20 yards behind the boat in front of the lure ! The teaser stays on top of the water and splashes and flops around on the surface ! The teaser calls the fish and they find the lure with the hook that follows the teaser ! When your boat cruises near or over a school of mahi mahi you will probably catch one but you will probably catch barracuda as well , throw those back , but make sure they aren't a similar looking fish like a wahoo or king fish or mackerel ! Good luck !

My buddies Dad was an avid fisherman. He had specific rods, reels and tackle boxes for each type of fish and/or season. I know it was based on real knowledge, as he always came home with exact type of fish he said he was going for before he left home. The man was amazing!
Unfortunately he never taught his skills to us. That was always his own personal time to relax, and he didn’t want kids on board to ruin his trips. We did get to help clean and eat the catch, but a fortune of knowledge got lost this way. When he passed away, his sons gave away thousands of dollars worth of equipment for lack of interest!
At the very least he should have written a book to leave the knowledge behind.

Mmmmm, You guys have a long way to go and it's fishing, there's a lot to learn, but as they say it's not rocket science. I would start with trolling since that's what you seem to do more of. I recomend watching some video, try Moving Weight Fishing on You Tube, he's good. Also now a days with under water cameras you can see how the fish are reacting t your presentation. Remember the golden rule, think like a fish. Lol always works hunting.

All children under the age of 7 must wear a pfd while on a recreational vessel under 21' in lenght while underway. This requirement does not apply when the vessel is moored, anchored or in an enclosed cabin or below deck.
