"why are you still continuing this show"

Mr.Krabs took over Nickelodeon that's why.
*& fox with the Simpson's, family guy & comedy central with south park*
@@Simeautomatic100 at least south park is still good
@@randomnerd3402 Yeah out of these 4 Southpark still has good quality episodes. Family Guy, Simpsons, and Spongebob not so much lately
Well of course its there only good show. Would you rather watch Loud House.
As a kid throughout the mid 2000’s, it didn’t quite dawn on me how spongebob went downhill after the movie, it was more of a slow and gradual realization. All I knew was once we hit a certain year, which was basically season 6, there were a lot of episodes that I just couldn’t sit through and felt bored enough to switch to a different show.
*My 6th grade goin into 7th grade noticed it right away in 2005. Like when plankton sued Mr krabs or when Mr krabs had a reunion with his sailor friends but was embarrassed because of his age so he made spongebob dressed as him go.*
Really? I'm the opposite I remember seeing the first episode after the first movie and it made me feel that something was missing. I came up with multiple reasons. I didn't hear that Steve Hillenburg was gone until after a long while. The first new episode felt too clean and it felt like it was over too quickly. The characters started acting differently. Spongebob wasn't as smart as he used to be. Doesn't help that the first new episode was about Mr. Krabs selling the Krusty Krab to a bunch of squares in suits.
True Blue Ryu Same here. I didn’t noticed how different pre movie Spongebob was compared to post movie Spongebob until I got older. If anything, I had no idea pre movie Spongebob was better.
After the movie all of the characters only characteristic was being overly stupid
Season 6 was amazing. It had some of the best episodes especailly Not Normal and Gone.
who used to eat those gummy krabby patties?
Yes!
*Me!!! You probably don't remember but I remember at burger king, they sold spongebob watches where the face of the watch was rotated. I had a squidward watch lol*
Sheet i still get those every once in a blue moon.
i still do

Seeing a bunch of grown adults quote Spongebob brought me this weird sense of joy lol
Me too! Lol!
Dude I was quoting with them. lol😂
SpongeBob's for both kids & adults.
@@joshmontemayor6098 The early seasons definitely are more entertaining for everyone across all ages
Spongebob died when his character design was bigger.
His character died when his innocence became stupidity
I knew I wasn’t the only one who looked at how strange and different Spongebob’s design looked going into the spring of 2005 with the post movie season.
So after the first movie? Even though it sucked before and possibly after the second movie?
You look like Foxy Brown
and brighter
8:25 Spongebob actually isn't that bad at driving the test just makes him nervous.
So incredibly nervous that he can't control his speed!
FLOOR IT!
Oh hey icecream hero whats up?
@@ShadowtheUA-camr523 Yep notice how in the Spongebob Square Pants movie he drives the Patty Wagon with no problem, notice how. In Bumper to Bumer Ms. Puff says thats it the test is what scares him. @@nicke.8622 Hi how are you doing.

Nothing beats the first 3 seasons of course, but its been really good recently after a few old writers returned. I don't like the new over exaggerated animation style tho.

As a kid, I thought the drop in quality after the movie was just me growing up and out of it. I didn't notice it was just a drop in quality.
Yeah I feel that
Couple things:
1) I’ll end the debate. Nick did not make Spongebob gay nor did they declare he was. They showed that he was “celebrating pride month” Asexuals are actually a part of the LGBTQ+ community. That being said he’s a cartoon sponge.
2) to everyone asking me to cover The Simpsons and Family Guy.... I’m not a Simpsons aficionado, so I don’t think that vid would be in my Arsenal. Family Guy, id be happy to talk about but it’d have to be in the future. I am told both topics have been covered on ETEs channel if you’d wanna check them out.
He’s always been my ace pride icon. 😁
I know I'm commenting on something that was from two weeks ago, but when Stephen Hillenburg said that Spongebob was asexual, he meant that in the purely scientific way, as in the fact that he does not reproduce by having sex and that he reproduces by budding (as seen in Pressure) and the fact that he is not attracted to anyone.
@Jason Price they are angry because they are politicizing a kids cartoom by bringing up the sexuality of a sponge. I has nothing to do with homophobia
@@alexthompson8977 "nothing to do with homophobia" Then riddle me this, *why the fuck do none of these same people complain about "politicizing kids cartoons" when it comes to a character being straight* 🤔? If a cartoon sponge being asexual is enough to get people angry, then I'm sorry Barbara but they might have a case of the homophobia.
@Jason Price Its more along the lines that they thought it went against Hillenburg's words of just saying that spongebob was asexual rather than gay.
I remember my friends and I quoting SpongeBob in 9th grade. I felt somewhat immature about it then, but I better about it now.
I quote SpongeBob NOW. I don't care I'm in my 30s, those quotes are funny.

My favorite modern spongebob quote
"We have to find some way to get this whole wiener thing to blow up in mr krabs face"
That doesn’t really count as modern SpongeBob anymore, it’s from season seven out of twelve.
Anything post movie is MODERN SPONGEBOB
Mugaka Murakumo ...no
ThePickleMan Technically speaking, it isn't really a "modern" episode anymore. That episode aired nine years ago, which is almost ten years ago. Pretty long time, right? Episodes like "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout" is called modern.
Jaxsterminator that’s what I was saying
The fact that I can sing the Gary come home song word for word this many years after the episode came out, says something about how memorable each episode of SpongeBob used to be.
And the funny thing is that that song was from a season 4 episode. Proof that season 4 still had some gems in it.
Vee Infuso: When you tune into Nickelodeon, you will most likely see a new SpongeBob episode or a SpongeBob marathon
The Loud House: *allow us to introduce ourselves*
SpongeBob being on Nick all the time may have been true early last decade, but nowadays, all that I see on Nick is endless Loud House reruns.
@Sky Blaze21 PC culture has nothing to do with limited creativity. The increase in television regulations can all be linked back to the increased supervison by the FCC'S Standards and Practices Department thanks to the 2004 Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident, far before the third wave of feminism started. This has caused most of the creative people to move to creating shows on streaming because they do not have to worry about Standards and Practices constantly breathing down their necks.
Nick used to do this with the Rugrats, but they didn't air it that much as they do with Spongebob and The Loud House.
Stephen Hillenburg: Spongebob is asexual.
Nickelodeon: So he's still in the closet hiding that he is very gay.
Family guy and the Simpson's should be next
The Simpsons likewise should've ended after the movie imo.
@@zeroattentiongaming820 What is it about cartoons that decline post their movie? Though Family Guy declined harder without a movie.

As a longtime Spongebob fan, Modern Spongebob episodes *can* be great, especially the newest seasons
That RIP Stephen Helenberg ending made me cry he was actually one of the people I looked iup to
Growing up in the 2010s I noticed later that all my favorite Spongebob episodes came from seasons 1-4.
Many cartoons suffered thanks to going too long and lost their charm, but SpongeBob actually resisted this very well, the post-movie episodes are not that bad, they still delivered good episodes in Season 4 and 5, and in Season 9, Stephen Hillenburg came back and greatly improved it.
THANK YOU. Even in the worst episodes, I still feel like it had a certain charm to it. Recent episodes have also been amazing. That's more than you can say for most other long-running shows.
Season 4 was honestly great, but that’s definitely when it started falling off for me
I can respect your opinion although from the episodes I've seen I think their just okay but nothing special.
That’s literally what happened to everything on public tv.
omfg i remember i was in the fifth grade when the ‘gary come home’ episode came out nick had the mystery of who had him and this boy tyler came in and told all of us it was the grandma the friday it came out. lmfao.
"Seemingly immortal sponge". Lol. Actually, sponges can live for hundred or thousands of years, so... we'll have SpongeBob for a while. 😂
Spongebob is something that's part of everywhere's culture now. Memes are everywhere and in most languages, and you remember those old episodes, and you even still laugh at them when you catch them.
But I do remember once when i was in middle school around the 2010s that i had friends over and a newer episode was on and it started with someone twisting someone else's nipples and a friend just said that it was weird
Spongebob has changed and it's trying to be as good as those first episodes, but who knows if they'll manage to pull that off
It feels like the first seasons were a product of that generation
Aye Vee you’re quickly becoming one of my fav youtubers with this series. Hope you enjoy making them for a while to come bc I’ll continue to enjoy them😂
Vee: "He's their golden boy"
Me: But I thought he was yellow
You can't tell me, you didn't see that coming
Wish people like you would just stop commenting
I think that he means that SpongeBob is Nick's top dog.
Thanks so much for the video. I grew up with the earliest seasons of Spongebob and LOVED IT. Birthday parties, my first Alarm clock, t shirts, etc. I was a Spongebob freak! And although im in my 20's i also quote Spongebob with my friends, and even when i work with kids at church through Awana. (Thats one perk of its staying power. The ones allowed to watch it got the jokes and references.) When Hillenburg died it was a punch in the gut I hadn't felt since Robin Williams and Satoru Iwata's deaths. I mean I was so sad that I dug through a drawer that I haven't touched in years, just so I could find and post a picture of my twin sister and me when we met Spongebob to pay tribute to him. And so did a ton of people my age! Thanks for the great tribute!
One big thing that changed was it went from Spongebob and Patrick leaving some collateral damage in attempts to entertain themselves vs they cause the damage as a means to amuse themselves. In early episodes they would do some shit that irritated Squidward or caused him to get hurt but it was a foreseeable side effect of whatever activity they were doing. As opposed to in a more recent episode where they have to deliver Krusty Krab food to a high rise office building and they ostensibly break everything in it for shits and giggles, eventually leaving the empty frame of the place.
Can I still say that I’m enjoying Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated thus far?
Sure you can. You just typed it up.😛
It’s a fun game!
The online co-op is sooo bad tho, i was expecting co-op campaign :(

Funny thing about the first SpongeBob movie, I remember being genuinely scared of some moments of it as a kid, one of them being whenever the bounty hunter character ‘Dennis The Hitman’ showed up to literally kill SpongeBob and Patrick, and the other being the ‘All Hail Plankton’ scene.
Even as a kid, I clearly noticed how some of the newest episodes at the time were literally just watered-down carbon copies of better episodes in the previous seasons, but I will say that I enjoyed a good chunk of both Seasons 4 & 5, though I’ll say Season 6 was where the show became generally unbearable even for my standards back then (I also couldn’t stand any other loud hyperactive show, with the likes of Johnny Test and Fanboy & Chum-Chum I avoided like the plague).
One other aspect I really can’t stand with Post-Classic SpongeBob is the overwhelming colour palette. Back in the Hillenburg Era, the show was certainly colourful but it knew when to settle down and use more grounded colouring and shading so that the whole composition was easy to mentally digest, but after the man left, the show soon became a neon fever-dream of bright colours plastered everywhere that were obnoxious to just look at, let alone to actually watch the arbitrary hyper-exaggerated animation. A great example of this is the packaging for new merchandise related to the show: the old green backgrounds will always be a lot more visually distinct and pleasing than the blending blinding onslaught of bright yellow backgrounds behind a bright yellow character. It reminds me of those horrible digital re-releases of Marvel’s classic comics where the colours radiate with day-glow intensity, completely changing and sometimes even ruining the artwork, gradients, tone, mood and overall comprehension of the page’s contents.
I Have always wanted to talk to Stephen but He died before I can ever have the chance
same :/
I wanted to meet him so bad too. Worst timeline.
I can arrange that for you (but in all seriousness, it’s upsetting that you can’t even meet your idol who made arguably one of the best and most memorable cartoons in animation history)
Really? You can??
Me too :((
That's exactly why I loved spongebob, I had young kids and watched with them. To this day you can't say imagination in our family without the meme
Except SpongeBob never actually died. Seasons 4 and 5 have tons of classics and even though I'm not a fan of seasons 6 and 7, they still have solid episodes. And the show bounced back with season 8 and especially with 9B.
Yeah SpongeBob is still good, people just don't bother to watch the newer episodes after the bad seasons of 6-8.
"Darkest Timeline?" Day Community Died video confirmed? Hoping so :)
But seriously, I'd love to see a "Day Community Died" video, even though it's my favorite show :3
At first, I was sad, but then I remembered the later seasons and yeah it somewhat makes sense.
I love Spongebob
Finally someone SAID IT! *Sponge On the Run is basically Gary Come Home* but in a more lighthearted wacky way and in the vein of the first SpongeBob movie where SpongeBob and Patrick have to retrieve Neptune's crown but without the anticipation and excitement from us SpongeBob fans that the first movie had.
Not to mention advertisements. Especially BIG TIME advertisements from the FAST FOOD KING of advertisements: BURGER KING.
The only advertisement I've seen for Sponge on the Run was on a bag of pretzels at a Quick Trip.
Edit: oh yeah... *f ucking Corona virus...* but still.
Okay. I never thought you'd be talking about my all time favorite show.
“I Spent a day in a room full of 30 year olds watching the old episodes”

This was a way more wholesome video than I could have ever expected.
My Opinion the Golden Age is Season 1-4, I’m just one of those guys who loved Season 4.
*angelic choir*
FINALLY.
That's what we've been waiting for!
Joke aside, it does feel like over time the show morphed into where it felt as if they were planning out the merch before any episodes.
Spongebob died twice. The first time was in 2004 after Stephen Hillenburg left. The second time Spongebob died was on November 26, 2018.
In light of current events, we need a "The Day The Simpsons Died" video.
*2005 was the start of the end of spongebob for me. The appeal & charm of the episodes that made the show so popular wasn't there Any more & i noticed that RIGHT AWAY! It felt so out of place, dull & dry. & That's what me at 12 & 13 thought & I still feel that way at 28. Like the episodes in 05 tried wayy too hard to be funny & felt flat.*
There were a few episodes that aired in either May or June of 2005 that I thought were pretty good. The batch of episodes that aired in September were some of the worst episodes ever made.
It was that 1 season after the first movie that started losing me. There were definitely funny episodes still but that quality was going down and it really didn’t kick in till I got older
Understandable. Season 4 has some really good episodes, some as iconic as the first 3 seasons in my eyes, but after that, not so much. Season 5 has a couple classics/really good ones but the show never really got another big hit until that stop motion Christmas special came out.
100% Agreed. And In 2004 I was 15 and that 15th birthday might as well been my Sweet Sixteen as it was SpongeBob themed at Chuck E. Cheese and it was pure BLISS.
A friend I had at the time was also obsessed with SpongeBob and her favorite character was Patrick while mine was and still is Squidward. 💜
This girl made my birthday really special. Nakita, will never forget that special day you gave me. Father hated SpongeBob called him, "demonic and gay" 😂 (thanks Dr. Dobson) so all the cool SpongeBob stuff for my birthday I got from her.
And 2004 was the best year for me as it was so memorable. Not just because of SpongeBob and the SpongeBob movie, but also for basically everything atleast media-wise. 💜
If I could turn back the time I'd blast back to January 1st 2004...
Relive that glorious year...
I never knew about the no love interest thing for Spongebob. The first episode where Sandy appears has her and Spongebob having a lot of romantic chemistry, she even invites him to her Treedome. They keep teasing that pairing even now in Spongebob, he delivered love notes to everyone in one episode and Sandy giggles when reading hers while playfully wondering who it's from as she watches Spongebob jog to his next delivery. Just because he's asexual doesn't mean he can't have a loving relationship with Sandy, she certainly still seems interested.
Great video, man. It was interesting here you talk about the show's history and how it changed over time. Although I do feel like you could've went into a little more detail as to why the show isn't the same as it once was. I completely agree that the show went downhill after the first movie. It was interesting seeing as to how you and your friends' lives were influenced by this show. Spongebob impacted my childhood like no other show, as it did with many other people.
"Are you feeling it now Mr.Krabs"
Spongebob died when they 1. Changed his character design and 2. Turned his innocence into stupidity and started claiming he was gay and so on , this generation is always trying to assign a sexuality to someone or something just let them be it’s not that deep spongebob is a SPONGE not a person he is a CARTOON
I watched these episodes with my sons who were 2 and 3 in 99. During the summer when I was off from teaching we sit on the couch and watch afternoon shows. During the summer my son had a sponge Bob party. They made sponge Bob Jell-O shots which I partook in some sponge Bob merriment. Those early episodes were the bomb.
Vee's friend's quoting SpongeBob is the most wholesome thing I've seen in a while
Vee, don't be too hard on yourself. You still look amazing for your age. The only thing that's gone, really, is your hair. And oh yeah, Spongebob was the BOMB back in the day. Shame what happened though. I'll admit, I used to like SOME of the episodes post 2004 movie. Then I look back and realize that they're probably not as good as I thought. Keep up the good work! There's a Spongebob musical now on Broadway and even THAT's more faithful to the original show than the actual show is. Great songs, too!
There are good post-movie episodes.
@@bw-leftturnracing7779 I'm sure there are but the bad episodes seem to overshadow them.
So, from what I can make out, if you're walking down the street and you see a group of people led by Vee quoting SpongeBob, run or get mugged. Gotcha.
I'm 29 and I still quote the show with my 48 year old dad 😂 there's just no way around it spongebob is timeless, at least up until the first movie I agree with you the show while it still gets the odd chuckle out of me now and then, it's a far cry from the show it once was. R.I.P Stephen your creation was tremendous for the first 4 seasons and movie and now nickelodeon is butchering it
I think it’s fine for spongebob to still be around because after I have watched some newer ones with my little cousin over the last year, I can say a good bit of them are pretty good. It’s nice to have a show different generations can relate to and enjoy together. Also the other modern cartoons on Nick seem so awful so I can see why they use spongebob so much.
You would say Goofy Goobers was never mentioned again, but then again in the Movie they implied they went there all the time. And also it recently reappeared in 2 recent episodes
This show is on Life Support and tastes like very watered down Gatorade, the essence of what it used to be is still there, but the flavor is nearly gone
renata carswell I know this is technically not canon but since the creator worked on this before he passed I think it’s amazing to where it feels like a better finale which is the musical
@@carswellcarswell2593 I feel this too to some degree though. One of the core elements of what made Spongebob so great was the clever writing. As much as I ADORE Post Sequel's vibrant and expressive animation, the dialouge between the characters is either limited or hardly any. It feels like its playing it way too safe with the jokes and memorable quotes for some reason. Its sort of become like a silent cartoon with very rare lines of dialouge. What I mean to say is that I want them to try doing more witty writing for the characters
Its pretty good, animation wise. But its missing that other component for it to truly be "back"
@@JovialEclipse it's not animated like at all, it's the Broadway one

Even though Im a 00s kid, I grew up adoring the pilot up to the first movie. I binged the cable like it was all I had outside of school. Dang, even 9 year old me knew something changed.
I feel like Spongebob could be revitalized by building a new creative team that grew up on the show
what music box/piano song is that at the end where we give thanks and farewells to Mr Hillenberg?
People say it should have ended after the movie, but season 4 had some pretty solid episodes such as Krusty Towers and the well episode, but after that, there was a pretty severe drop off.

I still remember the Chocolate Episode simply because I was having a sleep over at a friend mines house and we happen to catch it after playing Mario Party. We were on the floor laughing quoting that chocolate scream all night and for the rest of the school year.
The reason nothing from the film is ever mentioned in the series is because Stephen told Nick after failing to stop them from making a 4th season, that no matter what, he wanted the first film to be the end of the show.

He said that while yes the movie didnt really end the show as was planned the movie still takes place after all the events in the show from a timeline standpoint so the movie is still canon but it just takes place after all the events and episodes of the show even the ones that came after the movie so in a way the movie is still the end of the show
I maintain that season 4 is perfectly fine
love the quality of the video- really think some chill background music would go a long way, though m.
5:20 - Damn dude! Now I wanna see you make a video called "THE DAY BARNEY & FRIENDS DIED". The show has more or less been cancelled for over a decade now. I'd like to hear your take on why it eventually ended.
This one seems like low hanging fruit.
10:51 In Spongebob lessons were occasional and they still have them on occasion. Driven to tears the whole epsidoe Spongebob is jellous Patrick got his licence but at the end he feels bad, Overbooked Season 8. Spongebob promises to help out all his friends so he has to run back and forth from place to place. Best Day ever his perfect day goes wrong and he spends all day helping others. Battle of Bikini Bottom ends with can we agree to disagree.
I'd argue most of those weren't intentional.
@@ForrestFox626 They clearly were how do yuou have a plot about jellousy have them make up and have that not be the lesson.
@@ForrestFox626 There is also a more recent one called Bulleten Board. They put up a community bulleten board in the Krusty Krab and its like internet comments. Some people get there feelings hurt. I'm glad the show isn't preachy and the lessons are here and there.
@@icecreamhero2375 Because that is a stock plot
@@ForrestFox626 Not really I don't recall ever seing an other show do an episode about their friend getting a licence when they couldn't get one. Yes having to be in multiple places at once has been done before but it fits Spongebob's kind hearted workaholic nature. The Buliten Board plot is like interent comments but they made it a buliten board to make it affect the Krusty Krab.
I love the no children piss off opening. Definitely should make one for a ringtone.
Now I wanna binge all of Spongebob
I think the show lost its touch around season 5 and got better during Seasons 9 and 10
When steven was living yes it had gotten better.
