    I agree about the buzz. The buzz goes away when connecting to a speakers. I am looking for a portable to take the piano in the spring.

    I just ordered the piano from Guitar Center and waiting for delivery. I became interested in learning piano again after going to a cafe in the Bronx and almost exclusively have piano solos in the background like the River Flowing. According to the sounds I heard in your video, I don’t think it’s a bad piano for beginners like me. The current 49 keyboard I currently have sounds like a toy rather than a grand/upright piano. Since my apartment is small and in a walk up building, there no place to put an acoustic piano. Yet I wanted to play on an 88 key piano. So this Carry On could get a good opportunity to start piano playing.

      Good luck! Let me know when you’ve mastered River Flows in You!

      @@topmusicco Right now decided to work on Pachelbel Canon in D. I connect the piano to the Miatone Boombox speaker using auxiliary cable to connect. I don’t notice much typewriter sound when using the speaker. I think the piano is nice and has a nice sound.
      My aunt had an upright piano, but the piano was so out of tune. I couldn’t play it. So I gave up the piano unless I play it at a shopping mall, music store or hotel lobby. Now that I’m 62 I’m getting back on it.

    I purchased this even after watching the not so great reviews mainly because of it being such a unique concept. This is more of a novelty item and more on the midi controller end. The “piano” concept is because of its 88 keys and internal speakers. As mentioned in the review this would suit more for beginners or those producing sounds on the PC.

    Ugh, the clicking! I appreciate that there are more attempts to make portable pianos these days, because having to use my MIDI keyboard and laptop with GarageBand just to be able to play anything if I’m away from home is a PAIN! I do hope we can get a truly good one soon!

    Any recommendations for very young children? I bought this for my 3 year old, looking for the best compromise between price and something that actually still sounds like a piano. Wondering if I should return and get something else rather.

    • @topmusicco
      @topmusicco  Рік тому

      For children beginning to learn you really should go for a proper weighted keyboard action which starts in digital pianos around $1000. Honestly it’s much better

    I don't think I'd care much about the clicking, because I'd use it with headphones (better than the crappy speakers). Plus have you ever played a tracker organ lol? What would bother me more is the action. At the same time, I need something specifically for travelling, something small enough to go in backpack (like 40 cm long max), and I don't really find any alternative at the moment. Anybody seen anything? I don't need 88 keys, I'm an organist, so 61 (or even a bit less) would do.

    The only feature this keyboard is missing and is really sad is touch response!!!
    Is the harder you play the notes the louder it gets and the softer you play it the quieter it gets. That's a major feature it needs!!!

    Got 1 of these before Christmas. This is not the first or the last review on the folding piano 88. You're not going to be able to hit some chords easily without touching other keys. It's more than a toy since it can be plugged into a computer as a MIDI input device.
    There is just 1 reason people would buy a keyboard like this for home use: the US $100 price. People who just started piano lessons don't know how long they would continue before buying a full-size keyboard or piano with weighted keys.
    For people who travel, packing a keyboard like this into a suitcase is the justification. There are better keyboards that are slightly bigger but would require a separate carrying case.

    The plasticky clicking sound is a big turn-off. They should have made the keys silent.
