We ended up selling the truck, however the noise never went away even if the truck was warmed up. I did a bit more research and found out it was a Ford TSB which stated that it is just normal engine noise amplifying off the light off or cat converter. Apparently its normal, Ford's solution was to just wrap the converters in some sort of sound proofing, but I mean, it doesn't really do much. In any case, its nothing to worry about. Thanks!
thanks! however it seems like the noise is a little further north of the cat almost directly under the engine, but its identical to the sound in both of these videos. I just want to know exactly what it is so I can quit worrying lol
My 5.4 2v on my 00' expedition makes the exact noise, mine goes awake once you start driving awhile
did you figure out if it really was piston slap? my f250 is doing the same thing
