- Surfperch fishing on the Oregon coast. I was using Gulp shrimp for bait on a hi-lo surf rig. You can catch surfperch year round, and I like to go during the high tide.

Just want to say thanks PK. I grew up fishing the Texas Gulf coast and when I moved to the PNW, I was lost as a goose, haha. But I fund PK's channel and started learning. This past September, I was at Westport WA with some friends. Just happened that the stars were finally aligned and I was just catching one perch after another. Always have stuck to what PK does to the "T". Works every time. This year, caught my personal best redtail. A massive 3lb one. It was so fun. The Pelicans were crashing all afternoon on the outgoing tide. Definitely owe PK for any successes. PK, you're in our thoughts and prayers here in N Idaho. Get well soon and take care.
Catching surf perch is on my bucket list. 57. Some day. Been watching you PK for years now. You haven't changed a bit! That's perfect! Really respect the work you have put in to keep us all entertained and informed.
I'm glad I saw this video , I been down, I'm going to get out and do some fishing this weekend over at seaside , thank you, and I'm going buy a go pro, to doc.
You are a educator I appreciate approach to fishing love see a video of you on the Great Lakes
Thank you
That was awesome! We always crush it!! I didn’t even see that huge one at the ends Nice!
The slow mo voice got me cracking up 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome!
The fog looks amazing.
Thank you for your video's, sir👍👍I used your idea on the stern light came out great and worked really well for us. All of our Kayaks are rigged with them now.😁
One of my favorite fishing UA-camrs!
What a fine big fish catch PK in an enjoyable few hours on the surf, fishing. Crabs like Gulp baits. Why? Scents?? Why do you think most OR fishers use high/low rigs and in miles south CA fishers seem to prefer a long line Carolina or either high/low or fish finder rigs with sand crabs? Because Stripers are always lurking? Waiting for your next video with your son!!
I hope you are feeling better
Awesome!
Have you tried squid fishing on the Oregon coast?
No, I've never target them here in Oregon.
Hi PK, can you try and using Calissa lure or something similar in oregon water for surf perch and see if it is any productive?
Hi there love your videos would love to know how can i start fishing at the cost like what kind of fishing pole etc appreciate any guidence thank you Pk
Going to Gold beach in Christmas
Any ideas for crab and salmon and surf perch?
Hi PK... I keep having trouble with doing these dropper knots. It seems that unless I use 20 plus weight line, mono, poly or flouro. the lighter lines always pull out when given a hard pull. Do you have advice on this?
You gotta keep that loop tight when you pull it through the center hole. I did a video here on the dropper loop: ua-cam.com/video/AniDtu3PVAM/v-deo.html
Yeah I watched that vid... No one seems to be able to answer the question... you're not the only onw. . What you demonstrate works well for me in 20 plus lb line. but anything less .. it's hit or miss time after time. At least you bothered to reply. Thanks@@oregonlife
is this an old video or did you recover from the health issue
A little older video. I'm doing better, and starting to head out again.
Which camera?
So are these not good to eat or do you just do catch and release? I fish for food to supplement my family’s diet so I’m curious. Never surf fished before so it’s all new information for me
very tasty fish!
I do keep them sometimes. They are good eating.
first
PK, love the wonderful videos you put out. I use the heavier braid due to the fact sometimes a huge pile of kelp needs to be yarded in. Headed up for a bike (Yamaha) ride on Wed, going to check out Ono and vicinity, pre planning for the Westcoast Perch Event of the Year!
