Tbf, even face up counterspells can really force bad plays out of an opponent when you have board control like Seth did in that match, it's not unreasonable to ditch the 3rd answer in favor of finding another threat. Wrong equation right answer lol
@@Eruedraith127 And it ended up paying off. Milling the Sinister Sabotage is the only reason he was able to draw Pile On exactly when he needed it. Not that it was something he had information on, but it was definitely correct to try and find something less redundant.

I think this deck is ok having a handful of lands (not a lot) that enter tapped. At common and uncommon you have a reasonable number of ETBT dual lands with upsides. I might start with some combination of Choked Estuary, Waterfront District and/or Mistvault Bridge.
I definitely would have used Metamorphic Alteration in match 1 game 2 to turn their resplendent angel into a dreamthief, think you just needed more time there. Would have kept you alive!
Oh, so it's explorer? I normally skip all the pioneer videos since they're in MTGO, and I only clicked this one since it didn't have a format in the title. All the talk about pioneer is confusing though. Good to finally see more explorer on the channel.
you should try and make this a full deck! this could be a viable deck on current meta! I really love the idea of a surveil dork growing deck it's really nice! maybe adding the usual fatal pushes, delve spell, drown in the lochs, and thoughtseizes this could be good! can we please get the non budget version?
MKM has Snarling Gorehound, which is effectively a Surveil Sister to Spybug and Phantasm's Pridemate, and if the face commanders come to Arena for Historic and Timeless like they have in other recent sets - though they could easily end up a casualty of the Hasbro layoffs - new Mirko is nuts.
39:00 I see no reason why Seth can't enchant the opponent's Archfiend with Metamorphic Alteration and then choose his opponent's Archfiend. Am I missing something? There is no specification on Metamorphic Alteration saying "choose another creature" or "target another creature" and when he went to play it, both of the opponents creatures illuminated, as if both were legal targets (41:03).
If he did that the archfiend would still keep its counters. For the combo to work you need to metamorph a creature that does not have oil(?) counters on it.
Some of it is Seth having possibly lower MMR than other platinum players due to playing so much jank. But most of it is likely just that Seth or the opponent was queued long enough for Arena to expand the pool of available opponents enough, why it took so long, I have no clue.
Isn't Sinister Sabotage like a strictly better Cancel? Like even if the last opponent was playing a budget deck, there are literally better Cancels than Cancel out there LOL
I assume Seth does the mispronunciation thing for engagement and feeding the algorithm, but I really struggled with him saying dream-theft rather than dream-thief this video
Game 3 against Waste Not, did the dude keep an opening hand with 2 copies of Field of Ruin, since he got traumatized by game 2 Hall of the Storm Giants?! 😂
Match 3: you shouldn't have hesitate going for it. The odds of the opponent realizing what that convo would have done was pretty high. No sense in killing his own creature
