44:53 Ok, so I am dumb, but can someone explain thisr? He plays the eidolon first, THEN the prowess haste card, so he hits himself for 2 in a close race, then attacks for a single point of damage to light up the stage for ANOTHER 2 damage to his own face? And he couldve instead played swiftspear, then DRC, then Eidolon so his swiftspear is a lethal 3/4 haste and he would have 4 more life and a 3/3 flier even if the opponent had the leyline binding that he did...You could save light up the stage for another turn, which you would have.

The best is when Seth has to stop and think for a moment, and asks "Is there a card that saves our opponent?" and then comes up with some ridiculous scenario like "Okay, if they top deck exactly X card, and then spin into Y card, and then if they're holding Z card, otherwise I think we win." And then the opponent plays the prophesied cards
The one thing I always hate about this build is the transform of Kumano Faces Kakkazan completely negates the benefit of Searing Blood, as any creature that is killed gets exiled and thus doesn't go to the graveyard to trigger the 3 damage from Searing Blood. So now you have an RR spell that deals 2 damage, and that's not as good.
I honestly think it’s one of those necessary evil problems, because they’re both such good cards in the deck that feel bad to exclude, and honestly I don’t think that the nonbo is that common considering the low toughness of KFK’s backside

@@Matthill121hey man don't feel bad. There is a very high chance, like over 100% chance, that if the cards that I use to build my Modern decks became available for Timeless, I'd instantly spend whatever amount I needed to so that I could play said decks. The only reason that I've ignored spending money on Arena thus far is because not enough cards that I use, or cards that I would use, are available.
As he's literally saying "it's a shame I don't get to cast these light up the stages" as you can just look and see they're 1 mana cause his opponent decided to Fetch in response to the Roiling Vortex cast.
It seemed like he was really getting greedy for the light up into free land mentality but he deffinetly should have just got the free 4 cards for the following turn, regardless of being able to drop a land with light up or not.
Alternatively if it is on arena and in the timeless format, Leyline of Combustion is a pretty underrated card that also deals with targetted removal as well (only downside being that the deck probably will rarely be at 4 mana to hardcast it if it isn't in the opening hand)
At 36:05 instead of bolting the mutavault, let the hexcatcher resolve. If he sacks the hexcatcher you just pay the 1, if he doesnt, you bolt the hexcatcher and if he sacs the mutavault you still have bolt in hand and he lost 3 life and board is the same as if you bolt the mutavault.
Is it worth maindecking it in a format that doesn't have a ton of free spells the way Modern does though? In a format where nearly every deck is jamming evoke elementals and forces it makes sense but it doesn't seem nearly as powerful in Timeless as a maindeck card. I'm really not trying to be snarky or anything, I haven't played any Timeless yet. I have a ton of wildcards I've saved over the years but I wanted to wait a while for the meta to settle down before I start buying up fetches, spellbook cards, etc so I haven't played yet but Bauble alone doesn't seem like enough unless there's also a lot of incidental lifegain and stuff in the format that gets punished by it.
Been having luck with Mono-Black Devotion. Moderately expensive (Necropotence, Dark Rituals, even Phyrexian Obliterator), but at least you get to save on the mana base.
Started playing burn because of this video and now i run 3 color burn (red, black and white). Boros charm, lightning bolt, Boltwave, Bump in the Night...Only way i have consistently been able to go toe to toe with omniscience players. Working on an blue white artifact affinity control deck to really shut them down.
I love The Magic Mirror. It does take a while o get going, but I play it in control deck with a lot of wraths. I've got it up to 7 counters before. A new hand every turn is pretty nuts!
Even tho Timeless is expensive, if you're smart at least you can feel pretty confident your rare/mythic purchases are gonna last. Once you've got 4 x Necropotence, you're probably good for the rest of the time you care to play arena. Big upfront cost, but holds value well if you're smart about your picks.
I've been playing a lot of Rakdos burn, you don't actually need Bowmasters! I've been playing with Hopeless Nightmare's and Okiba Reckoner Raids and they are great, especially in the mirror. They also make it way easier to get delirium off as there's more enchantments to get into the yard. Bowmasters is by no means bad, but I only play it in the sideboard.
I win in timeless all the time with mono red burn. Channeler, ghitu lavarunner, swiftspear, variashino pyromancer, light up the stage, skewer, bolt, wizard's lightning, bonecrusher giant, play with fire, lightning strike, reckless impulse, risk factor, electrostatic field over eidolon. 4x Rumanap ruins and 2x den of the bugbear
i dont see the issue with the leyline, most games arent going long enough that casting it turn 4 would be relevant anyways. plus it seems to be intended to sacrifice during the beseech the mirror loop
There's also Gruul Burn, where you get Atarka's Command (which is usually going to be 3 damage to face + pumping your dudes, though it could also be 3 damage to face + no lifegain for your opponent) and Deathrite Shaman for that grindy, grindy value. Boros or Rakdos would probably be better, though.
so i see the appeal of roiling vortex especially with the free spell hate but if its main job is life gain prevention could skull crack be used in its place (assuming its on mtga i actually dont know if it is)
I made a timeless version of the goblin deck you built a little while ago and am winning games. I doubt I could rank up very far with it, but I am having fun.
The best part about trying out this deck has been running into all the upgraded versions of this, and strangely the original budget version has a great win percentage into it's beefier brother.
the great thing about budget decks like this is that there's room for improvement, you can use this deck to grind for wildcards and then use those to upgrade it
I found Tainted Pact to be a good entry deck coming from mostly playing Historic Brawl. I had a ton of one-ofs so I found making any regular deck to require more wild cards than I had.
Imo runny steamy boi is honestly a necessity in this deck... Spectacle, drawing, pinging all are even more super functional once you have a free three mana. Out of all the cards in Timeless, Minsc and Boo seem like my most hated. Probably not most OP, but it's like, what do you even do against that raw power? It doesn't even have to waste a loyalty ability activation on making a creature! It's just a 4/4 with haste every turn.
"Are they playing a Leyline that they literally cannot cast?" Not unheard of in various competitive formats, especially when Leyline of Sanctity or Leyline of the Void are involved. Also I would point out that if you want to play almost any given competitive format on a budget, Mono-Red Burn is usually up near your best option because so many of the parts are interchangeable.
Makes sense, especially in formats with more lax or non-existent rotation, iterations on "shoot a dude in the face for 2-3 damage" in red have been done practically every block, and there's no fancy necessary synergies to make the damage work You just shoot them until they die, synergies are nice but The Gun is still The Gun regardless of which exact accessories you slap on it

As someone relatively new to magic, why didn't you just cast the burn spells in the Uro match up when you had the chance to? I noticed lands untapped, burn spells in hand, and nothing being done.
Sulfuric also costs 3 mana to cast, and with this few lands that matters. It also doesn't punish the free spells, which as we saw against the storm deck is important. Roiling is almost strictly better.
