Sorcerers can also twin the drakethroat glaive spell to cast it on 2 total weapons... so apply the single largest damage multiplier in the game to half your party, daily, virtually for free (assuming someone at camp spent the sorcery points)
Thanks so much for the support! I really appreciate it - glad you're enjoying the videos! Luckily for me the wiki community has done a ton of the research already, so I don't have to test *everything* myself
This really shows the disparity in power level between the best weapons in act 1 vs act 2. Some of the act 1 weapons are absolutely not losing to any act 2 alternatives.
Well act 1 and 2 is travelable between them so in theory you can rush for any act 2 weapon at the start of the game. Act 3 is decidedly big step up from the rest of the game in terms of gear
Until I started this list I honestly hadn't fully realized how few weapons there are in act 2 at all, let alone how few actual upgrades you get. Definitely contributes to the game feeling like it has huge power spikes at certain points
@@formatomi The words "in theory" are doing a lot of heavy lifting here, since by rushing to Act 2 would skip a lot of important quests and you would be horrendously underleveled for any act 2 encounters, that's really not an option for most players.
@ Obv you wouldnt do Act 2 encounters, then it wouldnt be a “rush”. Ive done it plenty of times, and who said anything about new players? You can autokill Glut with Korilla, looney tunes Minthy from the bridge and explosive barrel Dror Ragzlin. Then you save Waukeen and Barcus, no fights needed. Tada you did everything that autofails before act 2
Infernal Rapier is still useful for bladelocks because it opens the opportunity to dual wield, with your pact weapon in the main hand and off handing the rapier. Probably pretty nice for a level 12 warlock with lifedrinker.
for the offhand you're better off with an offhand of harmonic dueller or rhapsody since u attack twice with the main hand but only once with the offhand
Fun thing to note about Shar’s spear of evening, not only does it give you a darkness cloud weapon action, but it deals the same melee damage to _everyone caught in the AOE._ uhhh including allies so do be careful about using that as a panic button to provide cover to a downed teammate or you might just kill them. It can also trigger other attack based reactions like Luck of the Far Realms and divine smite on crit of you’re a paladin
One small positive of the Ne'er Misser in addition, it is a short rest cooldown magic missile for the wizard build you made. Basically best in slot for them.
You forgot to mention the strongest aspect of shar's spear: 'Edge of Darkness' not only casts Darkness but also does it's damage in a 10ft AOE. If you use this weapon as a paladin you can smite every enemy within said AOE... It does take a spell slot for every enemy you hit, but still only one action. This can result in ridiculous amounts of damage per attack.
There are pretty significant downsides to getting the shar's spear of evening, in that [STORY SPOILERS] These serious considerations around getting certain items are definitely some of the most interesting decisions in BG3, especially if you are roleplaying . . . . . . . . . . everyone in last light inn dies, meaning you lose some pretty major characters in act 3, including dammon and everything he sells, such as the armor of persistence and legacy of masters, the ironhand gnomes, which prevents you from getting flashbinders, the martial exertion gloves and the runepowder barrels/bomb. There's also a pretty high chance Jaheira dies in the encounter, locking you out of obtaining her and by extension, minsc. You also get locked out of getting Rolan's help for the last battle, if you want to kill lorroakan.
SPOILERS There's a way to get the Ironhand gnomes and Jaheira in Act 3 even if you kill the Nightsong. In order to do this the Last Light Inn needs to be destroyed by letting Isobel get captured or killing her yourself. Then you need to rescue Wulbren after The Last Light's destruction but before finishing the Nightsong quest. He and Jaheira will appear at the Moonrise Towers after you've dealt with Ketheric.
@@UngodlyFreak You can also cast Silence on shadowheart + the party when confronting the Nightsong; this causes shadowheart to automatically kill her, but skips (since everyone's silenced) the dialogue where the shadowcurse envelops the last light inn. Since that doesn't happen, they don't die, and neither does Isobel. They won't help you with the raid on Moonrise Towers, but wo needs their help, anyway?
I had the cambion from the infernal rapier active during the Cazador endfight & all the bats & ghouls gravitated to it, leaving the rest of my party alone. Very handy.
Top quality guides as always. Very useful in planning my honour mode challenge run (banning myself from exploiting broken mechanics like TB, radiating orb, wet etc.)
Drakethroat cold enchantment with arrows of many target combined with the snowburst ring turns your archer into a cc machine. It actually spreads ice surfaces better than any wizard could without needing spell slots.
Drakethroat + Punch Drunk Bastard on a tiger barb is hands down the most satisfying melee character I've yet played. The thunder explosion sounds when you cleave a group of enemies is just perfection
Someone probably asked about this before, but have you played the roguelike mod for BG3? Right there is a trove of new tierlists to be made 🥳 When I saw how insanely powerful force conduit is in the roguelike mod as compared to the vanilla game, I was instantly reminded about your videos.
These vids have inspired me. Next playthrough I’m only using uncommon and rare item. There are so many that look interesting (while of corse underpowered) and I’d love to see how far they can take me through honor mode.
Great vid! This is not really related this this vid’s content, but wondering if you would consider making a ‘common mistakes’ video. Despite following your guides pretty closely, I often find I think I’m doing less damage it hitting less often than I think I should be. Feel like Im probably making some silly mistakes, but not sure whay they are.
using the pact bound warhammer on my lockadin (7 OB Pal/5 pactlock) i find this weapon so powerful i plan on replacing it only when i get my hands on the duellist prérogative (for swag point) with bhaal cultist chestpiece, i love this warhammer :o
Great stuff as usual, though I'm somewhat sad the Moonlight Glaive didn't make an appearance - at least as an honourable mention. A character with PA-Master and Sentinel doesn't get that much from the Halberd of Vigilance but could trap enemies reliably within the Moonlight Butterfly effect, giving the entire party advantage on attacks for three turns. It also has the Brace weapon action and deals an extra D4 radiant damage + radiates light making it great for a Radiating Orb sub theme. And you can still further enhance it with the Drakethroat Glaive. I used this for my first complete honour mode run on your "You shall not pass" build and it did not disappoint.
It may be a damned if you do damned if you don't situation, but since you included the Azer Warhammer, IMO it should be considered an Act1 Weapon. Since the only way you can acquire the Azer Warhammer is through an exploit, and given the fact that people most likely do not (I know I didn't) draw the line of needing to cast the Conjure Minor Elemental Spell themselves at level 7 when they can purchase (e.g., at the goblin camp), and cast the scroll at level 4, I think it should be considered attainable mid-act 1. And inb4 people mention the Silver Sword of the Astral plane, it makes sense to judge that as an Act3 weapon because you're meant to get it in Act3. You're never meant to be able to have the Azer Warhammer, and you're 'breaking the game' by doing so. So you might as well consider it attainable as early as possible, if you're going to cheese your way into having it.
Just at number 12 right now, and I thought a video about a summoning focused party would be very interesting, I don't think too many people have done it, and even less have done it well, and summoning is a very powerful strategy in Baldur's Gate.
I accidentally encouraged my way into #2 on my first run at launch. Not only was I salty about what I had to do to get it, it was absolutely too powerful. I then found a trick about duplicating it via commissioning a statue of Tav holding it, and then haha-funny-duping the weapon by hitting the statue with a disarming attack. It wasn't long before they never left my camp chest again. I spec'd my whole squad away from using darkness before I invalidated the rest of my first romp through Act 3 😭
@@Cephalopocalypse Usually yes, but i dont think hand crossbows can spawn. Im open to being wrong if someone has evidence. Good videos though, keep up the good work! xoxo
Yeah, I was just in act 2 at level 10 and never saw any +2's from merchants, and I've been accosting and shaking down every merchant in act 2 and hording hand crossbows because I have several archery builds going on.
So I recently had the idea to put Selina’s spear of night on my ek thrower, not at that point yet in my current playthrough, but I am excited to try (also bc nyrulnas aoe damage can be annoying)
@ I mean, you can still use nyrulna as well, just bind the spear and then you can throw whichever one you want and it will be equipped after (doing this with a thrown hammer and the returning pike at the moment bc of resistances/vulnerabilities)
Bow of the Banshee is a pretty powerful control bow in my opinion. Sure, I found that atacks of Arcane Acuity don't help with its fear application, but even without that the bow is awesome for keeping targets locked down, espeically when paired with Arrows of Many Targets or class skills that hit multiple targets (Bard Flourish or Hunter Ranger Volley). I found that using some items that most likely aren't high on anyone's preferred items list, you end up with high chance to hit, multiple hits per attack, and just outright prevent melee foes from getting in close to do anything, often leading to skipped turns. Though, I really should've put this on the Act 1 Best Weapons. Meh.
I'd like to suggest versions of these videos for each class also. It'd be nice to know, when playing thru as whatever class, which items (weapons, consumables, equipables, throwables etc) I should look at, and a reference video for each class makes that info easy to find. Plus, more videos! Win win. You could rate each item based on power, but also on party/class crosspressures, so in demand items couldn't be S tier unless they were definitively best used on that class, for example.
Punch drunk master could have great synergy with the new monk class that patch #8 will bring to the game, you'll have an insensitive to play drunk already.

Don't you think the Soulbreaker Greatsword could arguably be equivalent to the Charge Bound Warhammer? I guess it comes down to how much you value the '+2 initiative' vs '+1 hit/+1-3 more damage'... and I started doing the math and if everything landed perfectly (you're Hasted, using a Bloodlust Elixir, critically hit every attack and rolled maximum damage every time) the number is big enough I stopped doing the math. -_-

But with some weapons you lose an associated summon if you unequip the weapon. Like the Infernal Rapier from Mizora. and by the way why is the Infernal Rapier not on this list? it has a 5th level summon and a +1 to spell DC. I think for a finesse weapon user its pretty good. what do you think?
Thanks very much! Yes, if you unequip shadow lantern (or put it in the torch slot) you lose the summon - has to be held in your hand for the shadow! Of course you can just carry it until the shadow dies and then switch to something else for the rest of the day. Infernal rapier is in the list at number 3!
Tbh I don't understand why some items work differently in lower difficulties vs honour mode. Some are even bugged. I thought they only buff the enemies and add legendary actions/ reactions. They fixed bugs for honor mode only. I guess the idea behind only fixing it there is that fixing it on lower difficulty would make those harder (indirectly) and/or invalidate your builds. Which they want to avoid. In other words, backwards compatibility :)
it's because honor mode was released much later than tactician. All these are bugs and they were always present in the game, but larian wasn't intent on patching it because ofc some of them are fun and the community enjoyed it. so when they released honor mode they decided to let you experience these whacky and fun exploits in tactician-, while keeping honor mode to a certain integrity standard
For justiciar scimitar they broke one of the effect in honour mode while it’s still working in tactician or lower. So if it’s indeed only bug fixing in honour mode, they should not break the thing that’s working previously. Thorn blade is one thing that I disappointed the effect didn’t make into honour mode.
