Not a work, but if they were real pros like in Ric's time, they would twist it and make it a work and that would be awesome for sure. Unfortunately they ( the EVPs and Tony ) said they would never turn backstage issues into works, ever. In my opinion it's a missed opportunity because not only will they deny fans unforgivable moments in wrestling history, it also won't generate any form of closure either in the ring or backstage and they will remain bitter over one another until one side is gone. Back in the day they would sometimes generate kayfabe storylines like that, both wrestlers would end up working together to keep the business running and maintain the illusion. It happened with Randy Savage and Hogan over Miss Elizabeth, for example. The newest generation doesn't care about that because now everybody knows wrestling is staged. I also don't believe neither of them are professional enough to make a work based on a shoot in the first place. All those involved are known to be backstage divas and self-centered people.
That's the thing about Omega and The Bucks... they'll smile when they see ya, then go behind your back and whisper shit to Tony and the media. They did it to Cody in the beginning, they used their influence to turn FTR into glorified jobbers, and for two years they had Tony convinced that MJF wasn't a draw. And if anyone's wondering what their real motivation for going after Punk was... just consider that he actually had enough influence to overrule em, and make sure guys like MJF and FTR finally started getting what they're due.

A wise man like Flair should reach out to Phil and hope Phil can share details with Flair about his time working for past and current wrestling promotions, probably get a cup of coffee ☕️ and hash it out bit by bit

Well, at least you THINK all of the info was out. However, with Conrad's connections in the biz (and whether you like him or not, the guy is extremely well connected both with the boys AND with the office members of both WWE/AEW), he surely heard things that the rest of us didn't hear.
Minnesota born and raised. My Dad told me a story about the time he threw chewing gum in Harley Race’s hair when he was 10 years old. My Dad is 70 now. 😮
Anyone who thinks it’s a work - how is it going to play out? They turn it into a “storyline,” which takes the heat away and turns it into another “wrestling storyline.” You realize that all the backstage fighting never happened? That would be insanely stupid.
The MJF suspension was a work. This suspension was real?? Punk's first injury was real, the second one was part of the story. Now this tricep tear is real again...? Honestly, I can't tell anymore.

CM Punk in a lot of ways does what Ric Flair used to do in the NWA, except that Punk is a babyface and Flair was a heel for a lot of that time. I admire the work both guys do. I think it's terrific. It's the first time I've been able to watch wrestling in 20 years - ironically the last time Ric was on TV somewhat regularly on WCW. The difference is, people rarely crossed the Horseman because they respect them. There's no respect for the older guys in the wrestling business. You can tell that by looking at AEW hierarchy. Billy Gunn, Sting, Arn Anderson, William Regal and Dean Malenko - all answering to a bunch of overrated burger flippers. When Ric was involved in booking in NWA and WCW, he'd been a top guy for over a decade and people respected him, for good reason. Just imagine if WCW in the early 90s had put guys like Buff Bagwell in EVP positions and tried to tell Ric what to do. Bill Watt tried that and Flair went to WWF, taking the belt with him. The kids are running AEW and that's the problem. That press conference is why that doesn't work. Everyone's talking about Punk because he's the moneymaker. Nobody cares about those 3 glorified jabronis. If you're not an AEW lifer, who are Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, exactly? 3 goofs who have a UA-cam channel.
Pro Wrestling needs to go back somewhat to older times. Less coverage of the backstage stuff/ social media. The fans don't need to know every detail of what goes on. Just my opinion
But times have changed. I forget who said this it might be Booker, he’s walking into the locker room and he says how the old locker rooms were active, people playing cards, talking story about upcoming matches, etc., and today’s locker room everyone is on their phone, texting a guy across the room.
Rick Flair evil funny laugh knowing what would’ve happened back in the day when Mele broke out back stage is hilarious. But Rick Flair has to realize that just because Harley Race was a mean tough SoB back in the day etc , that don’t mean that there still isn’t some mean tough SoB guys still back stage who love to fight as well . No matter what generation it is there always that group of people who just don’t give a Fuck who will fight, stab , bite , hit u with whatever they can in a fight. 70s, 80s or wrestlers in locker room now there still is that BMF lurking in locker room and they know who they are lol

Damn Rics Harly impersonation is perfect.
i laughed out loud here at 2am when Ric said Ole still hasnt shown up hahaha
The Nature Boy. WOOOOOOOOOO
It's funny how flair is laughing at it . Classic that's kinda old school just let wm fight ha ha
F the bucks and omega cmon now
And F Hulk Hogan
@@StrivingTowardsWhatIsAhead hogan who? Flair is the GOAT
"I can't report on things because it may hurt my friends' feeling." Ha.
Punk and Flair. GOAT
RF still got it. My fondest memories were back in TNA 2010 when sunglasses got stomped in the ring and Zima's were chugged backstage. What a criminally underrated run for the company that one was with Jay Lethal.
To be the man you got to beat the man woooo! ~Ric Flair
This is like watching my drunk uncle who races Dodge Omnis….. 😱
Flair forever
You called it Ric. About sure it started with em knowing it was gonna get stopper
I hear the fight between Matt Bourne and Brian Blair was brutal, it made the fight between CM Punk and the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega look like a Kindergarten playground fight.
A wise man like Flair should reach out to Phil and hope Phil can share details with Flair about his time working for past and current wrestling promotions, probably get a cup of coffee ☕️ and hash it out bit by bit
I miss legends like Macho Man, ric flair, Scott steiner, Bret, Shawn Michaels
The CM Punk thing is a work
I bet when the cameras are off Flair still can't go 5 minutes without bringing up either Jack Brisco or Ray Stevens.
Ol' Naitch enjoying the chaos and confusion of the aew locker room. Lol.
Rics impersonation. Of harley race. Is priceless. 🤣
I love Ric Flair he is the man baby
“Brawls happened all the time in the old days” Conrad: “give us an example” ric changes the subject. These guys are all full of, well you know
All the legends are supporting Punk. Tells you all you need to know about the Bucks
The days of legit tough guys in the business is long gone.
The whole Punk situation is that we taught we were going to get the same Punk as 2011 that is still fighting for the underdog and he fought a series a new younger guys with no storylines just one after the a other and they finally created a good story with MJF and now he's doing what Punk did before.Where is the logic and continuity?
CM PUNK did it right!
Punk did say he always idolized Harley Race before lol
I feel Conrad gets frustrated with Ric or is it just me?
Of course he's frustrated, ric is a rambling old drunk on every podcast.
I agree Red. Rick kind of goes off on tangents and Conrad asked him for an example back in the day and he did not answer.
@@dkaiser65 It was a straight forward question too
Being that he's his father in law, I guess he feels entitled to.
It's just you
Love how Conrad doesn't want to disclose any info- all the info was out within hours to the media.
Well, at least you THINK all of the info was out. However, with Conrad's connections in the biz (and whether you like him or not, the guy is extremely well connected both with the boys AND with the office members of both WWE/AEW), he surely heard things that the rest of us didn't hear.
Yeah he heard whatever Meltzer says like always. Has he EVER quoted another source?
Conrad riding the fence becuase he's a secret investor in AEW. 😄
CMP is the MASTER of suspension of reality when it comes to Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT !!
Or just the master of getting suspended
Just type cm punk

Bring back jcp for the people
Minnesota born and raised. My Dad told me a story about the time he threw chewing gum in Harley Race’s hair when he was 10 years old. My Dad is 70 now. 😮
They need a wrestlers court in AEW like WWE does/did.
I live to see Flair imitating Harley Race 😂 Cracks me up every time 😂
Your right only Harley Race could back up that kind of talk ........not Punk.
I love how Ric is like lol the first half talking about it
I don't know what they put in them, but there must be something about those muffins that gives you the strength to fight off evps! I gotta get to Mindy's in Chicago! 🤔
He's high on that Ric Flair Drip 🤣🤣🤣
Man I love Ric, but please don’t ever compare CM Chump to Harley Race Lol
Are you friends with Scott Colton?
I like this calm Ric flair
@Crazy Eights If you've listed to Billy Gunn speak he said there's many in AEW who don't listen to advice or help.
@Crazy Eights he had one on Rene Young's podcast recently
Damn
There's a whole bunch of suspensions..
Nature Boy- 😁😁😁😁
Love Flair poking the Conrad bear to say what he has heard.
It's just like what undertaker said put the 🎮games down and they hash it out like the MEN they are. And cut out all this High school drama.
Aew bringing back kayfabe without anyone noticing
Rick flair is such a legend
"They wanna be like me. They wanna go upside down."
All the old school guys know.... DRAW ME MONEY
Punk will cream his jeans when he hears flair compare him to harley race.
Its one thing to say it, backing it up is entirely different matter. Punk may be a Harley Race protégé but he ain't Harley
They don't make tough guys like Race, Mulligan, Slater, etc. In the wrestling business
Rick on edibles lmao...the greatest
I love the Nature Boy!
