Exactly. Till this day they run with. The false thought that Michael's was trying to make fun of Hogan and he said it himself, he was just selling like he did when he was a heel.
Hogan made a great champion for the 80's era that he dominated, his over the top almost cartoon hero personality perfectly fit the times, but once 80's culture was replaced by the 90's it was an entirely different world.
As Triple H once said, " Hogan is a poser. He's make-believe." I was a child of the 80s, and Hogan was the biggest thing in wrestling for that very reason. My mum even got me the Hulkamania workout set for Christmas one year. However, by the turn of the millennium, his act got so predictable and pathetic that ever since then, I've been embarrassed to admit that i was once a fan of his.
Hogan was a brawler-style pro-wrestler with a small set of high-impact maneuvers. His charisma, larger-than-life personality, and promo skills are what made him so popular and successful. Hart was a technical/mat-style pro-wrestler with a wide variety of maneuvers. He was a serious-minded athlete who wanted his in-ring ability to speak for him. His mic skills weren't as polished and over-the-top, and he didn't have a colorful personality, but he could beat you in any one of a dozen different ways. He had a passionate love for the business, and respected everyone in it, even if he didn't like them. He doesn't compromise his principles when he knows he's in the right. He's also very straightforward and honest, and says what's on his mind.
Bret Hart is one of the best BEST wrestler/ entertaining athletes of all times and for hulk to say those things and for Vince to go along with is it's just wrong!!!

Brett and Shawn are honest and the coolest! I was at Hogan vs Goldberg. I was cheering for Hogan and saying that they should let him win. People around acted like it was a real match. I laughed and pointed out that the match would be over when that clock on the wall runs down, they were still in denial! 😅
I'm glad you got paid well when you worked with Hogan, Unfortunately, it sounds like Brett didn't get to work with him because Hogan was afraid of putting him over.
I think this just speaks volumes on how much money the whole business was doing just with Hogan's presence (and Bischoff confirms it in the interview). After all this years, since most of these dudes are in their at least 50s, they should just recognize that if at some point in their lives they were rich and famous for being pro wrestlers, it's because of Hogan's (and Vince's) work. I'm sure all of these big stars had their spoiled brat moments, it just so happened that Hogan was the first and biggest star, across decades and different federations, as a face or as a heel. They should just let it go.
Like everyone else, I always wrote Bret off as a bitter hothead. But now I see that he was really expecting friendship, loyalty, and fairness in perhaps the most brutal form of show business to ever exist. It was the wrong way to go and he should have toughened up very early on.
Hulk Hogan's significant success in the WWF can be attributed in large part to his exceptional marketability. While wrestlers like Bret Hart, Curt Hennig, Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Kerry von Erich, Rick Rude, Rick Martel, and even Steve Lombardi demonstrated high levels of in-ring skill and contributed significantly to the industry, Hogan's charisma and persona transcended wrestling, making him a global icon. Hogan's career path and impact on the wrestling industry are often debated. Some argue that his focus on entertainment and celebrity overshadowed his in-ring accomplishments, while others acknowledge his pivotal role in popularizing professional wrestling. Comparing Hogan's wrestling career to Steven Seagal's acting career suggests a perceived disconnect between their public image and their actual skills in their respective fields.
If you listen to enough wrestlers , they all think they were the very best wrestler , the only one who kept wrestling alive , and they were the only one that knew what was best for wrestling. They also believe they were the only wrestler with no ego , while everyone else was an idiot egomaniac that destroyed wrestling.
Who would Vince choose over Shawn Michaels or terry “hulk hogan” Bolea? I guess it depends on what timeframe I am speaking about, but when everyone was at their peak, I would love to know who Vince would choose?
Sure, Hulk was all about Hulk, but for Brett to say he was still the top superstar didn't feel right at all. I'm old enough to remember that time and Brett still felt like a step under the top guys
Maybe to you. That’s your opinion and that’s all good but facts are facts. Bret drew a shit ton of money, made EVERYONE he wrestled look phenomenal and they’ve admitted and thanked him for it, he put just about everyone over too. Not to mention he’s the best technical, in ring wrestler of his time.
All the match rating nerds will disagree and say Brett ruled. To kids in the golden era.... Hogan was wrestling. Little technicians are boring. Give me the charismatic monsters.
Never was really a Hogan fan. I felt his matches were very predictable and boring. 1 tear shirt. 2 poorly sell. 3 eye gouge. 4 start to get beat down but then feed off the crowd. 5 wag finger. 6 beat opponent down. 7 leg drop. There I have told you how what 95% of Hogan matches were like.
Hulk is the biggest star wrestling has ever known. More merch, more fans, biggest tv ratings. There isn’t anyone on the roster today that could carry his luggage. Brett was an amazing technical wrestler, but he was nowhere near as “over “ as Hulk.
@josiffexplosiff1 well Unfortunately it's all dependent upon genetics and acceptance! Also whether or not to put money towards helping your vanity or building a muscle car,! 👍😎
No surprise really. As bischoff said, for a long time Hogan was the biggest universal name next to Mohammed Ali. That would be hard for anyone to let go, human ego
Brett is such a better wrestler than Hogan could have ever dreamed of. Hogan is what drove me to watch more WCW😂😂😂😂,Brett and Stone cold were the only reason i watched WWE
To be fair, for the longest time Hogan was synonymous with professional wrestling so in the eyes of the fans anyone else was just a backup player. So you can’t really fault Hogan for feeling that way.
Man, I know Bret wasn’t excited about the Lawler feud, but that feud was so memorable to me as a kid. Especially the kiss my foot match. Lawler was such a hatable foil for Bret.
Bret should of realized with how many times Vince lied to him that Vince was going to screw him over. He always chose guys like HBK or Hogan over Bret. Vince deserve Bret
Most people who've worked with Hogan have no complaints at all, he was a solid Professional, he knew his shit in the ring, as safe to work with as you could get, and being Hogan when you were in the ring with him you were in the Main Event and making Main Event Money. Bret? Bret was great, but he's always taken himself too seriously and has gotten bitter in his years. Hogan vs Bret never materialized, not because Hogan was intimidated or jealous, but because Hulk Hogan was Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart was Bret Hart. Hulk was a Brawler, Bret was a Technician, both were good guys, it's not just about putting two wrestlers together but about putting two wrestlers who could work an entertaining match together, as two good guys with diametrically opposing styles that match wouldn't have worked, one of them needed to be a villain, and Vince McMahon wasn't okay with that. That's the other thing the Marks don't ever get, in the WWF then the sun didn't shine unless Vince McMahon approved of it, he was The Boss and while he listened to his talent in the end he shared power with no one. Bret vs Hulk, good guy vs good guy, would have been a terrible match, Vince knew that so it didn't happen.
@@FerretJohnTHANK YOU for saying all of this. I live in Calgary AB, and I HAVE met many Hart family members. WWF (wwe) wouldn’t be as big if it wasn’t for Hogan to be honest. The wrestlers of that era should be thanking him for the global frenzy he caused and made them them the millions they made, just like Luke Littler is doing for darts. He has made darts on the same scale as football in the uk. Both have the it factor and showmanship
People keep thinking Hogan got booed the other day because of the whole n-word debacle. I always felt like this day was going to come because of all the shoot interviews and negative public perception about Hogan in the industry.. as soon as " that doesn't work for me brother" became a thing it was a wrap
Guys like Hogan, Hart, and HBK had this idea that the belt made them. Guys like Austin, Rock, and Flair knew that they were over with or without the strap and didn’t mind putting other guys over.
Hogan said something about dropping the belt to the warrior and passing the torch and he told Vince i dont think hes the right guy but its not up to him , so maybe in vince mind he was testing the waters putting the velt on other guys and since they didnt draw as good as hogan , maybe he though hed be doing his business a favor by letting hulk have the belt but i guess it didnt really work out like he thought it would.
Hogan aside, Bret's claim that he was the top draw domestically doesn't hold. If that were true, why didn't he get the title from Yokozuna after Yoko took it from Hogan? Why bother with Lex Luger at all? From what I remember the rising star was The Undertaker back in late 93 to 94 although Bret's non- title status still helped sell tickets!
The WWF was struggling due to the whole steroid scandal. However, Bret help bounce the WWF back and is one of the key figures in ushering in WWFs peak era, the attitude era. Remember, Stone Cold was mostly being a mid card heel, wrestling feuding with guys like Savio Vega and Jake the snake. Bret hand picked Austin to be HIS heel which automatically put him towards the top of the roster (watch Bret’s entrance at Survivor ‘96 if you wanna see how popular Bret was, his pop was so loud you could barely hear commentary). The DX was formed as Bret’s (hart foundation) antithesis. Mr McMahon? Also was created because of Bret. Bret was a pivotal figure in the birth of the Attitude Era which was the peak of WWF popularity.
I never denied he helped sell tickets but domestically he didn't sell as many as Hogan or Shawn Michaels. Bret was steady and reliable while Vince and Co. were trying to make plans.
Bro , Brett had great story lines in the 90's that kept wwf alive and sold old arenas around the world. Look at Brett vs the British bulldog for starters.

That thumbnail took me out already 😂....Brilliant Job
Bret is the epitome of "if you're telling the truth, you don't have to remember everything."
Hogan made a great champion for the 80's era that he dominated, his over the top almost cartoon hero personality perfectly fit the times, but once 80's culture was replaced by the 90's it was an entirely different world.
Hulk was still the biggest babyface in early 90s and then the biggest heel with WCW...
Shawn Michaels makes it sound so academic, bringing back a 90s era gimmick to put asses in seats. IDK why everyone is so impressed by that point.
Triple H never said that.
@brianezell5790 yes he did.
Very well said.
Hogan was my first favourite wrestler. And he makes me regret that it is so with every day. .
@ the on-screen personality compared to his real life personality is what makes the whole situation jarring
All HHH ever did was leech off people. HBK, Vince and Steph
Bret has always been such a stand up guy. He’s a wwe legend 👏
And that's why Hart is better, he's the better wrestler and a better person than Hogan.
Bret Hart is one of the best BEST wrestler/ entertaining athletes of all times and for hulk to say those things and for Vince to go along with is it's just wrong!!!
Is it so wrong 😂 who cares it’s wrestling the whole thing is work. The only person taking it seriously is Bret.
That promo shoot with the belt did come to light. I remember seeing it in the wwf (wwe) magazine when I was a kid. 100% did happen
If it was in a WWF mag then why is there no pictures of it and a famous well known issue with it 🤔
No idea. I live in Scotland and I definitely saw a promo for it.

Brett and Shawn are honest and the coolest!
I was at Hogan vs Goldberg. I was cheering for Hogan and saying that they should let him win. People around acted like it was a real match. I laughed and pointed out that the match would be over when that clock on the wall runs down, they were still in denial! 😅
"I got paid more losing to Hulk than I ever did winning against someone else" The end.
Hulk and Bret were my 2 favorite wrestlers (with the Undertaker a close 3rd).
Like everyone else, I always wrote Bret off as a bitter hothead. But now I see that he was really expecting friendship, loyalty, and fairness in perhaps the most brutal form of show business to ever exist. It was the wrong way to go and he should have toughened up very early on.
There's some insane personalities in the wrestling world
I feel bad when people mention Shawn's eye in a negative way... my ex says that it takes real commitment to get skull fucked cross eyed!
Hogan did the same thing at Bash at the Beach 2000 to Jeff Jarrett that he did to the Hitman.

The irony that he buried his own reputation is not lost on anyone 😂
Bret you should run for Mayor of Calgary. So many of us would vote for you! Love you! 🩷🖤🩷🖤🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Shawn was looking jacked!
Shawn is looking jacked.
this was awhile ago but yea he stays tv ready in case he's needed. HBK is my all time fav

I love Hogan , I love Pro Wrestling, I love Bret , these are issues within the industry, no reason to hate a person I don't know.
Anyone know if there’s a full video of this interview anywhere?
If you listen to enough wrestlers , they all think they were the very best wrestler , the only one who kept wrestling alive , and they were the only one that knew what was best for wrestling. They also believe they were the only wrestler with no ego , while everyone else was an idiot egomaniac that destroyed wrestling.
These are the the top guys that kept WWE alive andre, hogan, brett, stone cold and the rock.
Exactly right
All the match rating nerds will disagree and say Brett ruled.
@@MichaelMedici61W2Bret didn't draw a ton of money though, they were in a huge down swing.

hulk is Right. Brett wasn't in his league. Brett was 100 times better than whiny hulk
Hulk is the biggest star wrestling has ever known. More merch, more fans, biggest tv ratings. There isn’t anyone on the roster today that could carry his luggage. Brett was an amazing technical wrestler, but he was nowhere near as “over “ as Hulk.

No surprise really. As bischoff said, for a long time Hogan was the biggest universal name next to Mohammed Ali. That would be hard for anyone to let go, human ego
He's just a bad guy. Simple. Popular, yes. Good guy, no. Really not complex.

Yes you can
What's crazy is Hogan don't ever talk negative about anyone. None of these guys are perfect.
I didn't realise that the term putting someone over in wrestling means enhancing another wrestlers reputation.
Never saw WCW as southern. The style was faster.
Pre-WCW, when it was Crockett, I always considered very Southern. The furthest that they'd go up North was Maryland.
It was Atlanta based, that's as Southern as it gets.
Man, I know Bret wasn’t excited about the Lawler feud, but that feud was so memorable to me as a kid. Especially the kiss my foot match. Lawler was such a hatable foil for Bret.
You can say the creative for mania 9 was shit, and it was, but the fans in the building absolutely were on board with the finish 🤷♂️
I agree fans went crazy when Hogan beat Yoko and I was a Hogan fan and I remember how I felt and it was amazing.lol
Bret should of realized with how many times Vince lied to him that Vince was going to screw him over. He always chose guys like HBK or Hogan over Bret.
Vince deserve Bret
Brett Hart is a legend, SHARP SHOOTER 🎉🎉
Bolea sucks
That's your opinion this is bret.. you didn't travel with the WWE.
@thetinman7371 I did not, but I've listened to plenty of people who have, and not just the people whose opinions agreed with my preconceived beliefs.

I always felt like this day was going to come because of all the shoot interviews and negative public perception about Hogan in the industry.. as soon as " that doesn't work for me brother" became a thing it was a wrap
Shawn is such a child
Guys like Hogan, Hart, and HBK had this idea that the belt made them.
Guys like Austin, Rock, and Flair knew that they were over with or without the strap and didn’t mind putting other guys over.
Piper was the same way, heck knew he didn't need the belt to be over.
@ you’re absolutely right
I wonder what type of “help” Bret gave Hogan…..
@pulsarstargrave256 Michaels at the time drew less tickets than Hart.
Bro , Brett had great story lines in the 90's that kept wwf alive and sold old arenas around the world. Look at Brett vs the British bulldog for starters.
@@elmatador81 This has become silly fanboy nonsense, I was talking about something very specific. Facts are facts. Bret was popular, especially Overseas but not enough for WWE's bottom line. In the interview he was overestimating his box office importance compared to Hogan's.

As a wrestler hogan can't hold Hart's Jockstrap
That and the fact the Hulk was not that much of a wrestler to begin with
But it isn't a real fight and Hogan is way way bigger than Brett hart and from the beginning of hulks career he was selling out arenas.
