  • "Should I get the Rebel 300 or the 500?"
"Should I buy a new or used Rebel?"
If you're watching this video, these are the questions you're probably asking yourself. Today we discuss this and more to help you make the decision!
Having been in your shoes before, I'm hoping we can provide enough information that you don't have regrets with your upcoming purchase.
Today we’re not only comparing the Honda Rebel 300 and 500, but also providing a refresher on what exactly has changed since 2019 with the design of the Rebel series. Some of the upgrades might steer you in the direction of buying NEW opposed to a Rebel from a few years back. Even though they look extremely similar, there are some key differences since 2020.
We take the Honda Rebel on some 0-60 and 0-100 runs out on the backroads, then after our drive we reunite to discuss these motorcycles’ features in further detail.
The Rebel 500 here is a 2022 edition, where as the 300 is from 2019. There have definitely been some aesthetic and functional updates to the design since then. We’re hoping that this video is able to give you an idea of what to expect with each bike, and what kind of person might be better suited for one or the other.
Budget might play into your decision, and for that reason you might be looking for something slightly older (such as a Rebel made before 2020). If you are thinking of buying a Rebel that was made before 2020, take into consideration the main differences (other than just colour, head/tail lights, and a slightly wider seat):
    The Slipper Clutch
This upgrade is included on Rebels after 2020, and reduces pull in the clutch by 30%. This reason alone should be enough to tip the scales in your decision. The slipper clutch will not only satisfy beginners who don’t quite have a handle on shifting gears, but experienced riders will also appreciate the incredible ease offered through this feature.
If you’re like me and have been riding a Rebel from 2019 or earlier, until you try the new Slipper Clutch, you won’t know what you’re missing. This feature is on both the Rebel 300s and 500s.

to be honest guys, i know a lot of people here watching this video just to decide which one to go so that you don't have to regret later. For me, I only "play" it for the look, for the style I pursuit, and also for the money, i have a family already and they are even more important than my hobby ( just to remind that the 500 is nearly double the price than 300). I also dont need speed (i had 2 accidents with only 150cc bike only) and i know how dangerous and stupid it is when you can't control your own bike. So i went for the 300 and i know i make a right choice and i'm satisfied with it. So, what i'm trying to say here is: You have to know exactly your limit and what you need, don't chase something just because people tell you it's better, it's their own preference and you have yours.

      @CruisersCorner  Рік тому +3

💯 🙌 This! I totally agree. Everyone’s limit is different. The right choice is what’s right for you in terms of skill, your comfort level, and your individual circumstances like finances. I started on the 300 and I really, really loved it. It wasn’t until about a year later I felt ready to take on the 500. It’s just what I needed in terms of an upgrade because I found the improvements very subtle. I don’t see another upgrade happening forever though. Cheers!

Exactly. They're cruiser bikes not really designed for speed anyway. The rebel 500 is more efficient in fuel though due to the lower RPM it can run at.

I'm only really torn on the 300's ability to cruise at highway speeds for longer trips. Just because the 300 can get up to 75-80 mph doesn't mean it should hang out there all day.

I never rode a motorcycle before taking my MSF course and after bought a 2021 Rebel 500. One of the best decisions I've ever made. The bike is fast enough and maneuvers like a charm. 1,000 miles in and it feels so natural to me while riding. I recommend it for any beginner under 6'1"

I had a 2019 Rebel 250 from Fall 2015 to April 30, 2022, when a deer full sprint ran out in front of me and I hit it. The impact totaled my Rebel 250, broke my hand (deer went into the bars), and required some surgeries. Wearing full gear saved my life (and skin) because I went over and landed face down sliding on the road - I was told by several people it would have been a fatal accident had I not been in gear. I'm 5'3" and 175 lbs. My old Rebel 250 was a good putt around the mountains of Northeast PA, and I did many rides over 100 miles on it (longest was almost 220 miles) - exploring northeast PA, NY along route 97, and all around Sussex County NJ. It had almost 16K miles on the odometer at the time of the crash. My season is done and finished, leaving me with no motorcycle and a hand with bones that did not set perfectly. I have what is hopefully the last hand surgery after right after July 4th. TBH... I was ok with the power of the Rebel 250, but the lack of a 6th gear drove me crazy at 55-65 mph (it topped out around 72 mph), and anything above 55 mph was so buzzy, that after a while my hands and feet would be totally numb. I have been thinking of a Rebel 300 - 2022 ABS model in blue, with the Nylon saddle bags, fork covers and gators, and maybe a set of Pirelli MT60RS enduro tires for the gravel/fire access roads, poor pavement, and tar and chipped roads. Even looking at the Rebel 300, I don't know if I could really swing one once all of the medical/ER bills are sorted out. Will see. At least I recorded some of my longer rides... but for now - my riding is done because crashes are very very expense and painful.

I could have afforded the 1100 or 500 if I wanted them but opted for the 300. For relaxed cruising around the beaches of South Florida with only an occasional blast up the highway for just a couple exits, it works just fine. I am 172 lbs., so it doesn't have to work that hard to haul me around. As far as sound, I have always had a soft spot for torquey thumpers and the sound they make. I even like to feel the vibration of a single under me. The vibration is not at all bad on this bike, but just enough to know you are definitely on a thumper. I love it! The 500 feels half sport/half cruiser so to speak. The launch is amazing, the weight is still really nice for maneuverability especially for riding in town, the matte black is right up my alley and being 6'1"...still isn't bad to ride. I think it would look badass with a little more of a "low profile" set of tires. Great video 👍👊

I have a CB300R and I replaced the low profile tires with taller adventure tyres. Apart from it correcting my over-reading speedo it will reduce the risk of buckling my rims in the many potholes I encounter. {I already have 1 buckle} I really recommend never get low profile tyres. They are the worst if you are not a race track rider.

I bought a 300 about 2 months ago - first time i was ever on a bike. It was definitely a great first bike to have and can get you going - i was actually going to get a Grom but decided on the 300 which was a good choice. I can take the 300 on the highway but like everyone says its screaming when you’re going 60 mph and above. After 2 months I’m definitely itching for a bigger engine - haven’t rode the 500 yet but the fact that it can cruise on a highway comfortably is really appealing - I’m 5’10 and 215 lbs - these bikes are definitely small and not the most comfortable but it is low and nimble which is nice for me (I live in NYC) - the 300 is great to get confidence and get comfortable but if you like riding you will outgrow it quickly - it may have been wiser to go with a 500 for me but then again who knows what mistakes i would have made if i was capable of doing 90 mph easily on the highway? Probably better to be safe and learn - deal with getting a bigger bike later.

    Interesting comparison :D
My first bike was a 2020 rebel 500; they don't sell the 300 in Denmark. Now I own a 2022 rebel 1100 and a 220 Blue Monkey, and a 1977 Maroon CB550 😂 I think the next bike should be something different than Honda ;)

Did you get the Rebel 1100 (dbl trans) auto? If yes, what do you think about it?

@@LH-zv2zq Nope. I have the manual. Shifting is really part of the fun for me 😊

@@Foodgeek I agree, you get a much better feel of the bike when you manually shift.

500 of course. Here in our country you can enter expressway if your bike is below 400cc. Only 400cc and above can ride in a expressway

That’s interesting in 🇨🇦you could take a 125 on the freeway they still go pretty fast here 120kph or 70 mph. The 500 is so much er nicer than the 300 tho.

    500. I can learn and I'll be scared either way so if it's the 3 or 500 I'm going to the 500

I purchased 300 as first motorcycle but then started regretting after a first ride only. It is super under power motorcycle , if possible rent it and try but don't buy it . apart from under power , seat is un comfortable and engine noise is very high , engine starts screaming on 39 mph speed and vibration is too much , so in short , I don't recommend it based on my personal experience . Go for 1100 or at least 500 cc and you will be just fine

Remember the bike will naturally stay upright and want to go straight without even you touching the handlebars.
