How Fast IS The New Honda Rebel 300?!?! Top Speed, Highway Capabilities, and More!

  • There's lots of discussion around just how capable the new Honda Rebel 300 really is, so I decided to make a video weighing in! See first-person as the 2017 Honda Rebel 300 is taken on the highway and taken up to its top speed. Complete with commentary, speedometer reading, and a bike walk-around with a TBR exhaust sound check, this should hopefully help people with their decision to buy what I'd consider the best beginner's bike! Let me know what you think!

    Really annoyed with people making fun of a 300, it's more than enough power unless you're a speed junkie you don't need it

      Why do you need to "get around cars" at 80 mph? With such a small displacement (CCs), you should stay in the right lane while maintaining the slow lane speed (55mph). What's your hurry? If you're a beginner rider, you shouldn't be on the highway in the first place.

      Why do some people worry about "how fast" a beginner bike is? Speed is not your concern as a newbie. The fundamentals of clutch/throttle control and the overall mechanics (weight, lean angles, brakes) of a bike should be your concern.

    I definitely want a rebel 300, it seems like the perfect bike for me, comfortable and easy to ride. I was hoping to spring on it this year but having been put out of work for over a month I have other things to put money into. I do hope that with a bit of smart saving I can get a previous model year next winter/early spring when the new stock arrives and old gets discounted. Great video.

It sounds like you’re doing the smart thing by not buying right now. And when you do end up buying, I really recommend buying used! You’ll save so much money that way if you’re patient and wait to find a good deal. I bought the Rebel 300 in this video for only $2,000 on Facebook marketplace. Even after all the mods I put into it, plus all the tax/tag/title fees, I still saved sooo much money versus buying old stock from a dealer. Good luck on your search! I ride a Vulcan 500 and it can do 100ish, but I rarely like to go above 80mph anyway. Too much wind and it's just not as pleasant at that speed. 65-70mph is really a comfortable speed for cruising. For 5-6k this is really a great motorcycle. Got pretty good tech and the same frame/suspension as the 500.

    Hi everyone, I know this is an older video but for any newbie that just saw this video like myself I just want to say it is a great starter bike if you are looking to start riding. I currently ride an older 250cc and had to ride the 300cc in the motorcycle safety course the past 2 days ago to help bypass the dmv riding test. I'm 5' 2" and I can flat foot it while sitting. It is a tad bit heavier than my 250cc but once I started riding it, I found it has more power and is fun to ride with it's new body size and shape. I've only been able to ride up to 2nd gear only in class so I can't really say how them other gears compare the real power it has to my bike. I also like how the gears are now set under you like none cruiser bikes unlike my 250cc, it is forward a little cuz I guess it is set like that because it's supposed to be a cruiser bike so you can't stand up incase of a bump or running something over unless you pull yourself up from the handlebars. Anyways just with the 2 days of riding it in class, I might just upgrade to the 300 or 500 when I get the chance. I was reading up alot from the differences of the 250cc and the 300cc and was afraid with the higher seat & heavier weight I might have an issue but I actually like the bike and have no issues with riding for a short guy and a beginner. There were females my hight and taller riding as well there on the rebels as the bike that they had to learn on as beginners never had any motorcycle riding experience. In short this bike is used as a 1st timer bike to teach new riders in the motorcycle riding safety course here in California how to ride. I think that says it all if you are looking to get started in riding.

      Ynot_44 glad I could help, and I think you’re going to love the Rebel as a first bike! I honestly wish this had been around when I first started riding. It may even be smart for you to start looking for bikes now. I'm a commuter so I'm kind of thinking of downgrading my bike now to this bike. I liked the info. I just don't really like the solo seat because a backpack situation would be better suited laying on a seat than a fender.

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  4 роки тому +2

      Timothy Midkiff What do you ride now? I really think this is the perfect commuter bike, but if you’re coming from something much more powerful it may feel a little lacking at first. You can get a separate passenger seat straight from Honda or there are aftermarket 2-person seats that could fit the bill and change the look some.

      @@LifeOfBurch I've got a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 500. I would like to get away from the dual carburetor setup for the EFI. It runs perfect has 45-46 HP but it tops out at 55mpg. I don't really need a fast or very powerful bike for the riding I do. If this gets 70ish mpg I think I'll downgrade to it for the type of riding I do.

    Really nice video. I’m currently taking my license and looking to buy a good beginner bike. When I was in my teens I had several 50cc and loved it, but now 15 years later I’m looking to buy a good beginner bike. I’m 220 lbs and 6ft. Is the Rebel 300 adequate or would it feel underpowered and boring after a season? My bike would just be a weekend bike and once in a while commuter. Thanks guys!

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  3 роки тому +1

      I think the 300 would be underpowered honestly. The 500 is the perfect place to start, or even the 1100 if you have the money. The 1100 is great because you can start in rain mode which is about as powerful as the 500, if not less, and then work up once you’re comfortable. My channel has tons of videos on both the 500 and 1100 if you want to check them out!

    Three questions
    What is the range in this bike particularly?
    What's the mpg guesstimate with highway use?
    Is it comfortable for longer trips maybe 1-3 hours

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  4 роки тому

      Wyatt Earth The tank holds 2.9 gallons and it’s rated at 71 mpg, meaning it ideally has just over a 200 mile range. I sold the bike, but I seem to remember actually filling up around 150-175 miles. I never let the gas light come on though. As for comfort, the stock seat is terrible. If you plan to ride for more than 30 minutes you HAVE to upgrade your seat unless you have a steel back. Once I replaced the seat I could do 1-3 hours cruising backroads no problem.

I watched another video and the guy was worried about going over 65 mph said the bike was screaming.. Would the 300cc be good to drive 70 mph for about 30 minutes.. I’m 5”6 and weigh about 125..

      Owen Tyson I think it’s a great choice! You’ll feel right at home on the Rebel. Seat height is very low so you shouldn’t have any issues flat footing the bike at a stop. Some people have even rotated the handle bars slightly back to shorten the reach for more comfort as well. When in doubt, if you pop by any Honda motorcycle dealer they’ll be more than happy to let you sit on one to feel it out. Hope that helps!

      The seat is much more comfortable than the stock seat, however I did need to drill new mounting holes in the seat since it wouldn’t line up properly otherwise. Also worth noting, if you plan to use the passenger portion you’ll need the stock passenger seat bracket to make it work. Hope that helps!

    Yah the bike does have a hard buzz even in 6th! It’s great through town the bike will easily rip! Change to the next gear 1- 6 at a low rpm it has torque and I found the higher gear was better. Doesn’t seem to have as much power when you really scream it up high. Low rpm torque monster! Except for 6th rip it as fast as you need to go.
