Great diag. Very methodical. Thanks for sharing! 👍
One word ASTONISHING mate well done 👍
Thank you for sharing. Good job. Have a blessed and safe week.
Top work and great diagnosis as always Steve 👍🏻
Dealing with a problem very similar today. 2014 Ford fiesta 1.6 diesel with keyless entry. No ignition lights no start and no coms. Scanner will only get coms if I bridge igniton relay. Found all keys were lost in the system after scan. Can't program keys for some reason. Any input welcome.. Great video once again.. Well done Skoda..
Good one Steve, I like the tip of sticking wiring diagrams to the wing!! Cheers sandy
Great video mate. Would you mind including a pic of the broken wire, and show us your method of repairing? Thank you
To be honest I was told to just run a fresh wire in, so I located the wire just out the fuse box and ran it parallel to the main harness to the PCM. Connected with heatshrink connectors.
GOOD VIDEO SIR , THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME .
Master, well done!
Thank you kindly!
Seen quite a few fords from that generation having broken wires down there. Smax/galaxy and mondeos as well.
When I do the bypass, I still have no voltage on fuses No. 8, 11 and 12! what could be the reason? would be very grateful for help! sorry for my bad english
found this helpful but almost stopped watching because of all the advertisments
They're placed there by youtube. Sometimes you can watch and there will be only one midway...sometimes more. Its annoying, but it's how get paid for content creation
where to get this ford pin connector diagram s with located pins??? geat video
Ford Etis
🎉thumbs UP dude !
@SY Diagnostics thx for the great video. I've the same problem but all 12V and ground wires are ok 😔 do you know the can bus wires? So I can check these 2 wires.but no sensor have reference voltage so I think the ecu is dead or what do you mean?
I seem to have a similar issue with my 2011 Galaxy, got it to start by removing relay 1 and by-passing....so the root cause was a corroded/broken wire?
It’s a 👍🏻👍🏻 from me
Hi Steve have Same car takes 5 minutes plus to start but when started drives lovely until the morning do you have any ideas cheers spent so much money had enough now
please can you tell me where the wire had broke/corroded? I have smax 2.0 tdci mk1 and got EXACTLY the same issue as this no comms/ immobiliser active and no crank no start issue
if i remember correct, the customer didnt want to pay the extra to find the break, so i was asked just to bypass the wire. I ran a fresh wire from the fuse box to the engine control unit
@@SYDiagnostics Thank you was this the red/yellow wire?
LOL, to funny, i had almost the same Car with same Problem yesterday - 2009 S-Max 2,0 103KW Diesel - the Signal Wire from the ECU up the the Main Relay was "green" about 30cm from the PCM in the Loom.
Seems this is a fairly common occurrence? Keeps me busy ;-)
Looms would collect water in the harness were it loops down beside the radiator and subframe. symptoms of non crank / no cooling fan amongst others
yeah, seen that a few times on the Mondeo, the loom on the Galaxy is routed differently. Thanks for watching
Just bought a 2008 Mondeo 2.0 Tdci with 140 BHP which supposedly needs a PCM due to water getting into it. I'm an ex mechanic so understand what you've showed in the video. I know about the BCM getting screenwash into it via faulty washer pump but haven't heard about the PCM getting wet. Have you seen many that have this happen? Stupid idea of Fords to put PCM behind the liners. Why couldn't they leave them inside the car!!
Also my pin out that I got from AutoData, isn't the same as yours. It shows 3 grounds, but no powers. I have found a SID206 pin out, but I'm not sure if that's correct either. Can you help please?
Never known a pcm get water in it.
If you email me with your VIN (address in video description) I can send you info
@@SYDiagnostics Thank you for getting back.
I'm getting the car delivered to me on friday. Will the reg number help before friday?
@@JamesAllen300 as long as it isn't a private plate it should be OK. Message me on here to say you've sent an email as I don't often check this email account
@@SYDiagnostics It's not on a private plate. Emailing you now.
I have one of these in that wont start, cranks but will not fire up. Would not start today after i replaced timing belt kit, obviously i suspected timing issue even though im a confidently proud cambelt fitting expert with 30 year experience...but after self doubt, blind panic and checking 3 times timing is spot on, wish that was the fault as ive been working to 10.30pm trying to fix it with a customer adamant it has always started without problems and "well it must be something you've done" attitude of oh so joyous indignation.
The main (middle) relay you showed clicks every 30 seconds even when the doors are locked. Its like the fuel is cut off and im at a loss why, the possitive battery terminal was loose and i swapped the main relay and the other one is also clicking, also the clock on the radio counts up to 12:02 and then reset to 12:00 and the clock on the dash stays at 12:00, im sure its an electrical fault but if i list my skills electrical fault finding comes bottom...... help lol
Did you ever sort this ive got a Kuga doing the same thing ?
@@steveguest8028 I did, it turned out to be the magnetic crankshft ring, lost its magnetism, i fit a crank sensor but that didnt solve it, on live data it did not show any rpm on screen so i bought a new reluctor ring and boom it fired up, never had this before and very embarasing and frustrating
@Russell Bury long shot a year down the line in having exactly the same issue what did u buy exactly please I'm having a nightmare lol
@@daniswift415 I fit a new crankshaft timing ring. The crank shaft sensor was not reading the speed of the engine
@@daniswift415 its the ring that sits at the back of the crankshaft pulley
I have an 09 Focus 1.6 TDCI with similar fault. No crank.
PATS is showing error 1:6.
Dash is displaying DTC U2510.
Forscan won't connect.
Checked canbus at OBD. 60 ohms. Good signals on a scope. Good continuity between OBD and PCM.
Power and grounds all good at PCM.
Checked fuses and battery.
+12 from ignition gets to PCM and ECU relay is operating.
If I power up PCM on a bench it draws 200-300mA but Forscan won;t connect.
Checked solering on dash pcb connector. Found some cracks, resoldered but made no difference.
Is PCM dead?
Will PATS stop Forscan connecting to PCM?
Anything else I could check?
sounds like it requires a PATS parameter re-set (re-align the modules in PATS), Forscan may be able to do this with this age of vehicle, you'd have to look further into it. Usually it entails erasing the keys and re-programming them . You require 2 keys
@@SYDiagnostics Hi there, thanks for the reply! I am sus on the PATS for sure, seems to cause a lot more problems than its worth!
Forscan won't connect at all at the moment though.
I only have one working key, the other is damaged - ironically I think it's lost the PATS chip inside when the metal key section of the case got snapped off...
I have a kit of bits coming (IC/PCM/GEM/KEY etc) so I may be able to swap some parts around to see if it's the PATS or PCM that is causing the issue.
Tested a different PCM. Forscan reads it on the bench no problem, so reckon my PCM is defo stuffed. Sending it to ECUTesting.

Hello, could anyone help me please? a couple of weeks ago I had clutch and flywheel replacement on my 2007 1.6 diesel focus, but the red Powertrain warning light has just starting to come on whilst driving, it disappears when I restart the engine. Could this be linked to the clutch or is it more likely to be a glow plug issue? I’m clueless but really skint so I’m just trying to find out stuff for myself.
Have you considered posting your question on the "simplydiag yt" Facebook page? You should get some assistance. I don't normally answer questions direct on this channel
SY Diagnostics thank you, I don’t have Facebook but I’ll try and set one up, I didn’t expect you to answer me Mate, you do this for a living I’m not expecting free advice pal. Thank you for replying though it’s really appreciated.
I got my car started when I bypassed relay .i replaced the relay and it still won’t start nothing ?? What’s the problem???
have you got power and ground at the relay primary circuit? bypassing just means you have circuit integrity for power and output
@@SYDiagnostics so what should I be doing next thanks for your reply
Hi mate, I have the same issues with mine but can get it working! Do you have a contact number or website/garage name so I can get intouch thanks
i have an email address in the "description" section of the video
