  • In this video we shall be diagnosing and fixing a 2017 Ford Transit turbo diesel 350 RWD 2.0 (Panther). The vehicle was showing an Ad-Blue Malfunction (SCR Fault) and the Engine Management warning lamp was also illuminated. The fault was caused by a broken wire on the transit turbo actuator, This is becoming a common issue on the Transit and a replacement harness is now available. Remember, not every AdBlue fault is directly attributed to the AdBlue system itself. Anything emission related can also have an adverse affect.
    P0045, P2563, P2564, P2598, P2599
    AdBlue malfunction, Ad Blue malfunction, SCR
    The video shows a simple and methodical diagnostic approach and fix.

    Dont normally comment on these videos but had to say probably the most professional one i have seen.
    Just thought I'd have a quick look on here before I went under the bonnet. Couldn't believe vibration would cause this on a 30k mile transit
    Diagnostics on mine shows MAF sensor fault on a 30k custom! Live data zero. wiggled sensor whilst CLIPPED IN and data reading. Clearly as you say this is generic not always addblue fault

    Nice one buddy.
    I had one today with the same problem.
    Unplugged the sensor and plugged it back in and it seemed to have done the trick.
    About 3 hours later we got a phone call from the customer saying that there is no loss of performance but the lights are back on the dash.
    Having watched this video, I feel quite confident that tomorrow I will find some broken wires.
    Thank you very much for this excellent video.

    I’ve seen this loads of times as you say it’s a common issue,first time I came across it the van had been into a ford dealers and they had fitted a new turbo charger to it but obviously the fault was still present and that’s when we got to fix the harness problem .... Great video 👍

    Hi got problem with 2017 custom 2.0tdci, loosing power no fault codes but when driving 4th gear and above at 1500rpm accelerator on floor and van pick to 1600rpm and get stuck for second than pick again few hundred revs and get stuck again like turbolag ,feels like driving old hydrostatic automatic car. Month ago when it start checked parameters and changed injector on 3rd cylinder (corrections was well above ) coded adapted all ok but problem still there . Dpf was clogged to 79% so done regeneration it done well to 3% but problem with loosing power still there , other test done week after dpf clogged again to 87% if it was 2.2tdci i would say 5th injector (vapour) , now playing funny with egr valve look like opening and closing and loosing pressure but still no codes only watching parameters gets crazy time to time . Question any sugestion what it will be ? Thinking of take dpf and egr to cleen or change but thinking if some experiences what else it may be?

    Heres something to consider. Driving my transit same model 2018 along the motorway and then ad blue message on dashboard and no power. Coasted to stop. Found crank only cranked half a turn before stopping. Checked battery and it was flat. Used jump pack and cranked again. Lot of resistance. Not good. White smoke but smelt like ad blue big time. Dip stick revealed no oil in engine. Boost pipe removed and turbo shaft broken. Changed the centre of the turbo CHRA and refit. Engine started but no power and ad blue system malfunction still there. Logic is the oil covering a sensor in the exhaust which is whats causing ad blue fault. What else….?

    Hi, really enjoying your videos and very straight to the point. I'm wondering if you could help me in anyway. I have 2017 RWD Ford Transit 350 L3 H3 van. Only covered 88k. Started to loose power then picked back up again, then lost power again, picked up again and started to rev itself then cut out on motorway. Started back up and could see signs of some leak (rainbow) on wet road. There is no lights on dashboard whatsoever and have had vehicle recovered as I didn't want to do anymore damage. I am thinking its something to do with the turbo. Does this sound familiar and is there any common faults for these symptoms. Any response Much appreciated 👍

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  Рік тому

      Providing you have no other codes stored, then the adblue light should extinguish on a drive cycle. I'd drive at a steady 45mph constantly until the light go's out. It could be quick and could take a while. They can be a pain to set

  • @aantonis

    Thank you so much! I just bought a 2021 Ranger 2.0 biturbo which showed the same faults at 500km. Added 5lt of adblue from a respectable supplier and took it back to the dealership where they said, i shouldnt have added adblue from other manufacturers except ford. They upgraded the PCM and reset the faukt codes. A day later the faults came back on. TBH I m not sure they had a clue. My Ford Pass notifications show: 1) The Powertrain control system is unable to build sufficient pressure of the DEF to properly control emissions and 2) The adblue is contaminated. Have you ever seen my case? Thanks for all the knowledge from Greece.

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  2 роки тому

      on that particular model, the adblue can be overfilled. I've had a couple now where there are no codes stored, but the adblue light stays on and showing low level, despite the tank being filled. There is an ultrasonic level sensor in the tank and there must be a defined measurement the PCM needs to see in order to extinguish the light, If the level is too high then the light wont go out. I had to remove some reductant fluid on the last one i did to reduce the level by about 20mm (2020 model) and then the light went out. Some vehicles are subject to software revisions for this

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  2 роки тому

      The insufficient pressure message could well be because the level is incorrect as reported

    • @aantonis
      @aantonis 2 роки тому

      @@SYDiagnostics Just WOW! I never thought you would reply so quickly to this. I was thinking about siphoning the adblue out as much as possible, and refill with a fresh 10lt jug (so I would definitely not overfill the 20lt tank). That would take care of both the possible contamination and the overfilling (which I did up to the rim to be honest). You reckon that would be a good idea?

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  2 роки тому

      @@aantonis has to be worth a go. The syphoning i did was in conjuntion with the Ford diagnostric platform and this could have re-set the values? Its worth a shot (i think your tank holds 16lt)

    Ok guys please help me I have 17 plate ford transit custom (116k miles) I had same message on dash ad blue sys malfunction 400 something miles engine won't start. I watched your video brought it to garage they done regeneration of dpf and it didn't help it actually dropped to engine won't start in 30miles. I brought it home had a coffee started the engine and it says engine won't start in 0 miles. I turned engine off and I started it back again and there was no message any more I was happy. I drove few more days and had this problem back again but now also I had engine management light on. I kept driving and my van broke down I had to call recovery I dropped it to my local garage and it was wet belt snapped whole engine out and it cost me over £4000 to replace cam shaft cylinder head basically everything you can replace on engine. Now just today I've collected my van with whole new engine and everything and the ad blue malfunctioning is still coming on on my dash board right now it says 435 miles to drive. I booked it with ford so they can investigate but I'm desperate and also after so much money I just paid and still this problem. Also they booked me for 12th of the march as they are busy. Now the question is could this issue led to wet belt snapping or was it just coincidence? I had regularly changed oils and servised my van with ford every year. Is it safe to drive or should I wait until they investigate? Please help me (I'm located Liverpool-st Helens)

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  3 роки тому +2

      wet belt snapping is most commonly caused by oil dillution on these engines. There is an upcoming recall for a certain range of transits to to check the belt.....if you are subject to this and have a good history then if i where you i'd take it up with Ford for some sort of compensation. As, in the recall checks the belt could get changed. The adblue malfunction is a different fault and won't have contributed to your belt snapping....there are multiple items and processes which could bring the adblue malfunction indicator on

    I have a problem with my ford mk7- 2010. when I drive on the highway and cover a distance of about 40-50 km, the error P2563 appears and it loses power and goes into safe mode regardless of whether I start it with a warm or cold engine, it does not show an error in city driving, it happens every time I try it at about the same mileage, I use the Forscan program to read and delete the error, what could it be, otherwise it drives great when I clear the error, I drive the next 40-50 kilometers without any problems, it is interesting that it happens at about the same mileage
