- In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you may notice that bug type Pokemon are some of the worst in many competitive formats such as VGC and smogon. Which is why we'll be trying to fix some of their issues!

Golisopod was done so dirty as Emergency Exit is so bad since it show's this menacing shogun looking beetle is still a huge coward
also it's really odd yet interesting that Scyther and it's evolutions have the exact same stat total, but are distributed differently and each specialize in something:
scyther: focusing on speed
scizor: leveraging on the Technician boosts
kleavor: slice and dice everything with Sharpness
I feel like regenerator would make sense with golidopod making it more like a pokemon that tactically retreeats

Giving bad pokes huge power or prankster is the least imaginative way to “fix” them. And in Ledian’s case, huge power is okay sure, but both is so lol.
The crystal Pokédex entry states that Ledian sleeps in warm mornings, curling into a deep sleep. So, insomnia is out of the question.
Pokédex constantly mentions star light, which is comparable to other cosmic Pokémon like clefairy. Perhaps Ledian should get magic guard, which would be great at dodging stealth rock, letting him hold focus sash for support.
Beautifly: swap it’s attack with it’s special defense, give it the fairy/bug type with some fairy moves, boost its speed with 20 points, give it tinted lenses.
Dustox: give it 20 points in defense and 10 points in hp. Give it the ability filter or corrosion.
Beedril: take 30 points of its special attack and put it into speed, and put 20 points into its attack. Give it adaptability as an ability
Ariados: lower special attack with 30 points and give 10 each to hp, defense and sp def. Then also give it 15 more in attack, with the ability no guard and move gunk shot -> in trick room Ariados will be able to hit with accurate megahorns, gunk shots, and drill runs
i’m a firm believer that beedrill needs adaptability regardless of whether or not it could mega evolve

I'm not a big fan of inverting Golisopod's signature ability. The whole point of it having a powerful priority move that can only be used the turn it's switched in, is because it has an easy way to switch out. And this is completely lost if you completely rework what is unique about Golisopod.
That’s very true and something I should have thought about, but in my head it was just a little difficult when you have little control over when the ability actually procks. Maybe I should have just thought about a way to give you more control over when it switches out

They need to change Golispod's cause why can't this scary bug man up against the enemy team 🤨
Not saying you shouldn't buff them, but you can get Krickitune pretty early in Gen 4. So a pokemon with 100 attack at that time would be pretty strong.
good point, in that case maybe it would also evolve a bit later / push it back a route or two? i think it’s less consequential bc it’s a mono bug type and the early game also has tons of flying types. I also personally feel less strongly ab BSTs in the early game bc I like to play through a game and then replay it with pokémon i’ve traded over from the beginning despite them not being available. Having high stats doesn’t always break the game if you’re staying at reasonable levels & working with moderate - below avg movesets and basepowers
again it’s more complicated bc it also gets technician so all the low power moves that would hold it back in the early game would be stronger so i think it’s an interesting point like you said

I agree with most of your points, and especially with the Scyther ones.
3:13 me personally I wouldn’t have touched it speed, giving it a teche on trick room teams, instead buffing its defenses so it can live longer

@@Dankosaurr i think that Serene grace could help Ledian’s secondary moves(i.e Ice punch,Air slash) to hinder opponents

Bug types are some of my favorites yet they are so bad to use, Butterfree and Lokix are my favorites.
Well I’m glad lokix isn’t bad but it sucks that even with how many buffs butterfree got its still so bad
