Power steering wheel isn't a Volvo thing- I have heard that it's safety based- when in an accident and the power is cut, they don't want the Steering wheel to be up against someones chest and unable to move both the seat and wheel- making it hard to get out or rescue the person if need be.
Not true. Everyone says this and thinks that- but the engine undergoes less stress in it's lifetime compared to 5 or 6 cylinder cars and handles quick accelerating beautifully. I've had a few 100k mile 2016 XC90's come through our dealership and they still operate fantastically.
It's not very different from older T5 Volvo engine I think the main difference in the engine itself is they cut off the 5th cylinder and added higher compression pistons in it. I've always thought the reason Volvo turbo engines are better than others was due to the lower compression ratio. Time will tell with these higher compression engines but I think they will be great engines because they can operate daily driving at such low rpms.
