I am old enough that I was listening to and playing Ventures songs when they were released originally. I don’t know how I lost touch through the years, but I am ashamed that I have only recently realized what a fantastic guitarist Nokie became. I love his style.
@Guermeister: same here,exactly. I'm 74, got my first guitar at age 11. The Ventures were one of the reasons I kept at it. If I had a penny for every time I've played ”Walk Don't Run”…
There are some wonderful UA-cam videos of Nokie Edwars playing with Thom Bresh (another favourite). Both sadly passed away now, but left us some great music to enjoy.
I never saw The Ventures or Nokie live, but I did meet Bob Bogle ar the 1999 NAMM show, which was a great pleasure.
THE VENTURES are my all time favorite group in the world!! I had the blessing of seeing NOKIE EDWARDS play this song Live in Booneville, Arkansas at the Mosrite Factory. He is the best!

This morning March 12, 2018 Nokie Edwards passed away after several months battling an infection after hip surgery this past December. I'm feel this loss very deeply... Nokie was my guitar master. R.I.P.
Phenomenal guitarist. One of my all-time favourites along with James Burton, Cliff Gallup and Chet Atkins.
The man still has the best fingers in the business, at 73 years old! Every note, and there is lot of them, clean as a whistle. My favorite finger picker.
Listen to it twice. It's even better the second time.

@richard42960 Nokie played bass with the Ventures only for the first couple of years during the early days, he was then switched to lead and played for more than 30 years, despite replaced temporary by Jerry McGee from late-60's to early-70's, he was then returned and played for a couple more decades. Most of the famous Ventures hits after 1962 were mostly played by Nokie. But I think playing bass wasn't really wasting his talent as he's always superb on both bass and lead^_^.

Justin Metcalfe No one will give you 30 bucks for a transcription unless they are crazy. I would rather go to Nokie Edwards personally and pay him 30 bucks for the orriginal sheet music. Your transcription varies in price on how well it was done.
