Arrika, your kitchen will be worth all the little delays you are going through. Our kitchen addition took 7 weeks.Yea, dishes in bathroom sink, eating take out, unexpected expenses. And the dust!!! Your kitchen will be amazing when finished.

I lost one of my brothers a few years ago to suicide. One of my most endearing memories of him is his teeth believe it or not. He was always smiling and had such an infectious spirit. Always wanted to make everyone laugh. Sometimes when the camera pans to Patrick and he says hello I am overcome with emotion because he reminds me of him so. I am always happy to see him. Patrick is a special guy. I love seeing him on your vlogs. He is a walkin’ ray of sunshine and makes me smile. I love seeing you guys interact and it sure makes me miss my Morgan. Sorry for the emotional/heavy comment! 😅
I love seeing the kitchen progress and I’m so happy for you. I hope you can find that little piece from above your sink. I buy and sell antiques/ salvage and when I go into old houses that are being torn down I always grab that little ornamental piece you’re talking about. Love from Louisiana. 🖤

The mess of a renovation is so real. From scraping ceilings putting new flooring in, I had a flash back when I saw all that dust. I was thinking oh my goodness poor Arika. Trying to stay on top of it daily is exhausting but it is so worth it in the end. Hang in there you all have this. Can’t wait to see the end product.
How many people can make cupcakes during a Reno.!! You go girl.

You guys seem to be taking it all in stride. ( PLUS you made a cupcake wedding dress, holy cow!) All of this disruption is going to be so worth it🤗.

Tell Marion to use a magnet to find the studs. Work's great. The magnet will stick on one of the drywall nails and it will show him where the studs are. Looking good in the kitchen.

Newspaper was used as insulation, I found this out when I remodeled my old house. They also used plastic bags that looked like the equivalent of our grocery bags.

Hi Arika, just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy watching your channel. You are an inspiration to us all. I am watching from Toronto, Canada and have never enjoyed a channel as much as I am enjoying yours. You are a genuine and grateful human being who is also a great mom and wife. Keep up the fantastic work! Watching you is my escape from my crazy busy world. Thank You!

Any time you have construction work hang plastic / painter plastic in door ways , if a/c is on hang quilts in door ways well help hold cool air in room. Then the saw dust and dust kicked in from pulling stuff out stays out of the rest of house. My dad was a carpenter. If he did work in a house with people living in it he used a strong tape to tape plastic up.

The newspaper was probably used for insulation. Back n the day they used what they had. That is why your cabinets were made with pieces of wood. Remodeling makes such a mess. Hang in there. So exciting! I have been checking all day for your vlog. You are one of my favorite youtubers to watch. You are genuine and so sweet.

a quilt would be better. We did not have a/c growing up so my mom would hang quilts in the sun side and a fan exhausting out on the shade side we open windows and put a fan blowing in. Also. cracked the attic stairs with a fan blowing up.

I live in a farming community in AZ. I can totally relate to having dust! Its everywhere! 😝 What kind of Rice a Roni did you have? We like the Spanish rice with cheese on top. Have you ever made Rotel Nacho cheese sauce? It's made with 1 lb of Velveeta cheese and 1 can of Original Rotel (tomatoes and green chilies) and you microwave it for 5 minutes! We buy the On the Border chips from Walmart. Yummy! I'm excited about your new kitchen! My parents remodeled their home lots of times. It was built of red brick and there was plaster on the walls, so there was a lot of what you were experiencing with the cinder blocks. Good luck with everything!

I've read that people used newspaper inside the walls for insulation. I know how hard it is having interior work done, but it will be worth it. It took 4 painters 2 weeks to paint my home interior last year, and I thought I"d go crazy. I cleaned everyday as soon as they left. I can't wait to see your final reveal. Maybe it won't be too long now.

That piece of wood you want to save would be nice as the front of a floating shelf, with the scalloped part on the front. Things seem to drag during renovations, and there are constantly "issues" that arise. Don't get discouraged, keep your eye on the prize! Great videos!

Hiya Arika, That is much happening over there. I admire you & Marion working together so very much. I feel your frustration in dust. I've completely been there in the kitchen. Ours was done 3 years ago with a single fella. Our kitchen was out of service for 7 weeks. Result was stunning. In between that you are a baking master girl. Beautiful job on the wedding dress. Just a little bling made it pop on your silver. So far so very beautiful with flooring, paint & trim. Hiya brother Patrick, I always welcome your smile. Look forward to what's next in the Dorsett kitchen.

I feel for you with the mess 😔. I’ve been there. If you have any real heavy gauge plastic to hang between the kitchen and dining rooms, the dust doesn’t go thru that as bad as a sheet. Hang in there Arika, all the mess is going to be so worth it 🙂

Just a couple things I was thinking about while watching: #1 I think Patrick probably smiles even when he is sleeping. Lol. #2 Madison should take over the basement and use it as a home based salon. and #3 If you decide to throw out the rug I vote for a new one with a pattern on it (not that my vote really matters, it's your house. Lol.) All kidding aside just remind yourself that in the end all the mess will be worth it. I am so excited for you!

The house I grew up in, was supposedly built in the late 20s, early 30s (since torn down), and the walls were full of newspapers. They used them to insulate the house, and yeah at one point there were mice in there that used to chew them up. But that’s apparently what they used to use for insulation.

It’s exciting watching the changes but it’s also stressful when you’re limited to how you can cook and wash dishes. If you removed that large bush/tree blocking the light outside your kitchen window, would you have a nice view? Also if you put up plastic sheeting between the kitchen and the rest of the house you’ll have minimal dust to deal with. A new rug sounds nice! Ikea have lovely rugs

Could you hang a sheet or plastic over the kitchen entry to your living room. Maybe that would cut down on the dust. They should be using the back door and not tracking thu your living room. AWESOME. It's coming along. The cupcake dress is adorable. Ollie cracked me up, all stretched out on your couch barking at the vacuum. Lol. Your house was built in the 50's. Maybe the newspaper was insulation. And yes it's always a pleaure to see your brother he brings a smole to my face.💚

Oh honey, you are going to be finding that fine dust everywhere! When we did our kitchen, I found dust in the closets and even in my dresser drawers! Don't stress! The mess will soon be gone and you will be enjoying the finished kitchen soon enough. Loved seeing the progress.

Put a sheet or blanket up between the kitchen and the rest of the house, save on the a/c and dust
