Good morning everyone! Hope you're all staying safe - quick correction:
-You gain ammo from using the "Transmog" ability on environmental objects - not from extracting brains
@1 Sub Before 2021? ikr
Well well well
Glad they brought that ability to DAH1 from DAH2
The new one is insane! I love it
Can transmog be upgraded in new one
I really hope they remake the second game cause that one was so damn fun
and way better
Brought this one just so that happens.
I always thought the second game was some sort of weird fever dream I had but then I looked it up today and remember it happened, in the psychadelic 60s in London. Great game and better than the first now that I recall!
since this developer really seems to care about the art style and it's faithfulness to the original game. I wish they would remake some underrated classics like Psi-Ops, Mark of Kiri, Gladius, The Thing etc.
The second one had so many dirty jokes when you read people's minds, it's hilarious how many of them flew over my head when I was little, has me on the floor laughing when I play it now.
I love how there are demos again... we need more of them.
Yeah, every game should have them. Especially the AAA games.
Yea also so you can test if your pc powerful enough
Ikr I hate how people say "watch gameplay videos first then buy it", Watching a gameplay ain't enough to make what you think of said games.
@@aresx3749 there is a different experience between doing and watching something
@@patek92 Yeah no shit that's why I said it isnt enough to get what you think of it.
The remake looks absolutely stunning, but I'm surprised just how good the original looked. I haven't gone back to it in years, but it definitely aged much better than some XBOX/PS2 era games. Either way, THQ Nordic has rapidly become one of my favorite publishers.
The game is upscaled on the xbox one X. It doesn't look nearly as good on original hardware.
Ac4Gamer106 he's talking about the old one
Stunning?
@@treywar25 yeh it’s being played upscaled one this video and not on original hardware.
The old one actually has more detail when you blow peoples heads up. Their heads actually expand!!
Its almost fitting we get a game called "destroy all humans" in 2020
Makes me kinda worried
And it’s a remake of a game from Pandemic Studios
@@ovadiacohen1158 oh dear God 😳
So an alien made the Covid virus... Makes sense. Chinese people are alienated from other countries since they keep everything so Secretively.
If you buy this game you can avoid the planned alien invasion in September!
Speaking of Pandemic, I'd love to see a Mercenaries remake in this fashion. Bringing in airstrikes and bunker busters on compounds at will was so fun.
Wow I forgot about Mercenaries, I didn’t like the second one but the first was so good
I Loved Mercenaries 2, Even that commercial song " Oh no you didn't"
Yes, Mercenaries 1 and 2 were great!
Hell yea, let’s get shot in the ass in 4K!!!
dude, thatd be pretty damn good.
A remake done right.
Dream for me would be this treatment to "The Darkness 1" ;).
I would kill for a modern remake of Banjo Kazooie or the Jak Trilogy (Jak 2 mainly)
We don't even need a remake, darkness 1 still looks great. A remaster would be perfect or at least a port to pc.
The Darkness holds up fine as is.
oh I would love a proper remaster of "dark messiah of might and magic"...
@@ZerotheeHero jak has been remaked on ps3
What makes this remake even better? The fact that it's $40 instead of the full $60. So pumped to pick my collector's edition up 🙂
All remakes should be 40 and remasters should be 20
@@supersaiyanbro it depends on the remake and remaster, resident evil 2 and 3 remake deserve the full 60 dollar price tag and so does shadow of the colossus remake because both those games look like they were built from the ground up which in some way they were, then you got games like Skyrim remaster which should only be 40 dollars since the only difference is that the water looks nicer but it's a great game
30 on pc
I love the game and all, but unless you're totally nostalgic for the game like me it's not worth $40. Worth more like $20.
@@linusmlgtips2123 On steam, it's $30, and I'm talking Canadian dollars which are usually inflated in comparison to the American Dollar, so I don't even know where you are all getting $40 from
What's weird is that in my head it always looked that good.
That's what a good proper remake should do. Make an old game look like how you imagine it did in your memory. The new dead space remake nails this as well.
as long as Crypto still sounds like Jack Nicholson and the humans go; "woOOoobobobobooOoo" when they get electrocuted i'm happy
Rhod Moses You’re in luck my dude
They actually used the original voice acting, which is fricken impressive since it still works!
They reuse all the original voice acting. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned at all in this direct comparison video.
They do
When they make a new game after 2 (maybe they make 3 including path of furon idk..) they'll use the same voice actors. I think they're all still alive. You can tell when playing the game that they used the same voice actors but in 2020 for some new or improved lines.
I hope they make a Destroy All Humans! 2 remake, imagine the various environments of the second game in full HD with better models
I hope they do to, especially since it was coop.
I like more for them to do an Overlord 1 remake
@Ac4Gamer106 The story was definitely good, but I just remember having a lot of fun with the people I did play it with.
@@csvector142 the coop mode was fun. But the tethering was extremely annoying. Player 2 cant even go a few feet away from player 1 without being teleported back.
I trying to imagine how good Japan would look in a remake.
Honestly, I'm happy with all the new models. I'm glad that they just didn't "retexture" and made it modern. They basically just re-released this game for it's current generation and I absolutely love it!
well, thats why its a Remake, not a Remaster.
not basically. literally. its a remake
Disagree, I thought having a hilarious alien running around a realistic world was an awesome combination. This remake went for over-the-top goofiness in style.
@@Goofballhero yeah the aliens thrown into a more realistic looking world gives a better feeling actually being alien. Also the more realistic models give it a more 50s sci-fi vibe instead of just being one big cartoon.
The lighting, texture, effects , draw distance upgrades are incredible but the design choice of making the humans cartoony stereotypes didn't resonated with me in the best way.
It's not a big deal though, a great remake overall.
I like the old ''art style'' more was a real world with a crazy goofy alien, now everything is goofy... Looks fun tho!
That's what I'm saying. It looks fun but I liked the original style way more.
Same, I'm enjoying the remake so far because of the graphics and gameplay improvements but I'm itching to boot up the original now in PCSX2 because I'm really missing the style and atmosphere and the less goofy looking human models. The original had this heavy 50s b-movie mood that is just straight up missing from the remake which now thinking about is something that made Pandemic studios games unique such as Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction and Star Wars : Battlefront 2
Idk man. I think it was intentional. With realistic graphics are now I think it wouldnt have meshed well. I think it was a great decision not blinded by nostalgia
@@dillonduke1662 i didn't even like the first game but the style was way better than the goofy looking designs they have now like i get what they were going for but i feel the original was going for a semi realistic but stylized 50's vibe while the new one just looks extremely cartoony i would have gone for more of a tf2 type of art style which is that same kind of stylized semi realistic retro vibe
@neva you missed my point entirely. Im saying they probaly played with that style at first and went today's graphical settings it probably didnt look as good as did when it first released in 2005. Didnt say you were blinded. I'm saying the devs could have made a mistake and chose that. Im not saying that's the reason its just a possibility. By the way you not liking the new style doesn't mean it's bad. Your in the small minority who dont like most are praising it. Either way, will never know why they chose this design.
I love how evil he looks in the original with the lack of moving eyes and sharper teeth
He's a moderately more expressive evil now.
@@jackgebhardt2932 moderately more expressive evil 😂
I’m okay with either of them.
He’s more evil, mean and veiny looking in the original
Also the head explosions are meaner too lol, the heads actually expand!!

Very good remake of an underrated game. And it's developed by a German studio, so I am even happier that it is as good as it is.
w n who cares if it’s developed by a German studio. Are you racist?
@@stare4539 I care about it since I am from Germany. I don't know how that could be related to racism. I didn't say that games that are getting developed elsewhere are bad or I dislike people from a certain country....

Can we all take a second and appreciate how well he made this video? Most people that do these kind of videos only compare the graphical changes. An example being how he went into depth about the mood and setting of missions due to the day/night changes. Good work man, hope you do reviews as well.
I do reviews as well. My most recent review was "Ghost of Tsushima" if you are interested.
@@Nick930 oh shit, i don't even know that you do game reviews. Damn, UA-cam doesn't recommend those videos at all.

Time to convince everyone I know to purchase this so we can lock in a remake of DAH 2
This was so well done and sets the bar for how remakes/remasters should bee done.
Agree
People keep bitching about how remakes suck, but have people already forgotten about Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7? I bet the new Mafia remake will be great as well.
Sure, not all remakes are perfect or to everybody's liking, but I feel like the ones that matter are really good.
@@JustSomeGuy2500 no, what I meant was that they were really freaking good, so why are people saying that remakes these days are let downs like its some common thing. Obviously not every remake is going to be perfect, but I wouldn't say that this remake sets the bar for remakes or remasters because that bar is already set really high with Final Fantasy 7 and Resident Evil 2.
@@-hasamastersdegreeinwumbol8565 to clarify I didnt mean this was the only great remaster out there.
For sure RE2 and FF7 have proven that love and care put into bringing an old game into the modern light is worth the effort.
I just mean that DAH is definitely one of those games as well.
Additionally this is a 15 year old game that had very outdated graphics/controls. THESE are the games that should be remade/remastered more. That's my main point here. We dont need a port of skyrim, GTAV for the 3rd or 4 time.
@@itzcrazydan ok, I get it. This does look like a good remake.
15 years....damn, how time flies....felt like it was just yesterday I bought the PS2 version
Not gunna lie I liked the style of humans for the original, the cartoony design for the new one is TOO cartoony, Crypto however looks amazing in the new design
Agreed!
This needed to be said. Original was TV looking, this is cartoon looking.
Agreed. It just doesn’t have the same feel as the original.
the remake is the the way i remembered the original game when i was a kid :)
Yeah no the original one compared to the remake,,, sucks
Thats how it felts to me aswell
@@jarrodedson5441 you can't read huh
On crt tv ps2 era games looked way better than on moder tv's
1:37 I miss Crypto's aggressive face with them sharp teeth.
You're comparing those pics when he isn't angry in the new version there. A few seconds later the vid shows his teeth also being sharp. I can see they might not be as sharp but... Meh. And maybe yeah, he might look angrier in the old one. Narrower eyes perhaps. Oh well
Basically they told the voice actor of Crypto 137 to give his best Jack Nicholson impression
A remake that feels like a remake
Honestly for a game with a cartoon aesthetic, it has some of the most realistic looking grass in most shots.
War of the Monsters needs a remake! I went on a tangent in my last comment but since both games were underrated gems on PS2 around the same time period, it would be great to see it return as well!!
You can get War of The Monsters off the PS4 Store. It has trophys also. It's still really fun. You can Shareplay the multiplayer aswell for online multiplayer. You gotta have decent internet. Also on PS4 Pro you can Shareplay at 1080p 60fps. I know it's not convenient but still cool to be able to do that to get around the lack of online multiplayer.
Agreed, destroy all humans and war of the monsters are both my childhood, and I would love to see war of the monsters get this treatment.
I remember playing this on the ps2
@Dr. Loomis I think he was just stating that the PS2 is a best selling console
@Dr. Loomis ah I see
Can't say I care much about the "cartoonization" of human characters, but every other thing looks great! Gonna get it as soon as I get this month's check :P
Nobody asked
@@sushilbhatla5636 for your opinion? Yeah, you're right.
I agree completely makes it almost unbuyable for me
@@Big_Nick31 Personally I don't mind the mayor change but I really don't like the farmers design
I agree I feel like the humans are way more cartoonish than the original

I love the feel of the new game. It's like a mix of Saints Row and Fallout 4.
ZacCoxTV, nice seeing you here.
Destroy all Huamns fan aswell as R* games.
Omg,U watched this Too,Damn :DDD
What
Absolutely agree, I'm glad I waited all these years to play it for the first time. Started this week playing the ps2 port which was included in ps plus some time ago, then bought the remake and started over. Quite the difference, and overall awesome game. I'm also having Saints Row flashbacks, though SR looks way worse ^^ (still one of my favourite games, SR4 that is)
Gotta say this is up there with one of the best comparison videos I've ever watched.
Great work! Earned my like and sub
Bought this for the feels, and it didn't disappoint!
Now THIS is how you do a remake. Take notes Ubisoft.
Does ubisoft do remakes... ever?
remakes and remasters are two different things
@@Nick930 Ubisoft is remaking XIII
@@default5hadowz776 only remasters which are different. So no need to trash Ubisoft in this regard. They do release their games with a shitton of bugs and glitches but they actually fix them over time
@@osenglish And remasters sadly come rushed. I'm still sad about AC3, since it got a good amount of improvements from the initial trailer, plus a lot of fixes from the original UI. Such a wasted potential.
Love to see them do this to TimeSplitters!
WOW i forgot about that game. That would be amazing.
Why does this only have 400,000 views?! You deserve MORE!
When using TK, can you still push objects in and out like before? And can you still drop them without throwing them?
I remember getting this game for Christmas when I was very young and I didn't understand anything.. Now I'm seeing it and I'm just like "you were such an idiot.."
Lol that's me to that one Russian mission on Destroy all Humans 2 where I couldn't complete a certain mission where you had to go underground because me being my young self never could find the location until years later after getting older. XD I face palmed so hard.
So basically long story short, the new game is better in every way.
Except the way PK works it felt more advanced in the original and items felt like they had weight to them when you lifted them and it was easier to aim with.
I think this is the best remake I've ever seen in this modern era.
I like the original better.
cameron henson Logically how? And don’t say nostalgia. The new one is the exact same game but looks and feels better.
@T Doran I thought that was just my computer being fucky but glad to know I'm not the only one with that problem.
Fundled LS Holobob is dropping because it's tied to the NPC being on the map, the Holobob is dropping because the NPC you targeted has despawned. I don't know why they did it this way rather than making it a one time check when you active Holobob to confirm a valid target.
For now the only way around it is to get a new Holobob every so often if your objective is far away, that works for the most part. Just be careful since sometimes you activate it, run a street or 2 away and the character just despawns immediately, it's normally the ones doing an animation other than walking/standing.
Great video Nick, keep up the great content. Im sure you'll hit 300k soon.
I do not know why but these videos are really calming and relaxing...I love this channel
My biggest gripes with this remake was the PK and Holobob changes because I loved being able to manipulate people in my human form without being discovered and watching the NPC reactions to people randomly flying without freaking out. Plus the weight of objects felt so much realistic in the old version.
I know your comments is a year old but completely agree with you the pk was the best part of the first game it was a little op but so fun just playing about with
I wish they got more feedback like this, the pk got absolutely gutted, one they freeze when you pick em up, barely moving, before they would flail, and that would cause them to rotate, two I agree about being able to stealth pk, but another aspect that it lacks that I absolutely hate, you can't use momentum to damage anymore, you can't just smash em into the ground repeatedly or smack em with a barrel,, you can just pick up and throw and that's it, the lack of precise control also sucks.
This game was an absolute blast before and is magically even better now
Nice comparison .........Been looking for this thanks .
Gameplay wise my only complaint is that when using the psychokinesis, I remember being able to slam people into the ground while still holding them, but in the remake the sensitivity while holding a human is much slower vertically so you can’t slam them downwards unless you throw them into the ground with the release
seeing the old explosions reminded me of hulk ultimate destruction, god I wish that game would get a remaster as well
Excellent game right there
finished the game yesterday, absolutely had a wonderful time throughout the entire story as well as the time spent roaming the maps and completing side missions. i was especially impressed with the final boss and how difficult it was. i think the new art direction to a more exaggerated and cartoony style fits perfectly with the overall feel of the game. i spent a ton of time holobobbing various characters just so i could look at and appreciate their models. black forest games did amazing with this remake, and if they give the second game the same treatment, i will put hundreds of hours into it
Youre an awesome guy for making this vid.
Look forward to seeing your entire walkthrough
This Remake really exceeded my expectations. When I first heard about it I was excited because I really liked the original Destroy All Humans, then I played the demo a little bit ago and I was sold not only does the game look great but I love all the quality of life improvements they added to it. Super impressed with this remake. I hope if it sells well we will see a Destroy All Humans 2 remake.
The reworked art design can be distracting at time, but the longer you play it, the more it grows on you.
This was a wonderful remake. I truly hope they do the sequel! Pandemic would be proud!!
Thank you very much this really helped me understand how the game was developed and redesigned again.
Great work as always, if possible can you do a Direct Comparison with : fahrenheit indigo prophecy Pc remastered vs Original ? Either way, Thanx 4 Posting.
The audio part is so hard to choose like the newer one sounds more realistic yet sounds like from a classic scifi invasion movie but then the original sounds sound so good too
In all aspects, a truly impressive remake.
Hi nick, I’ve been enjoying you’re videos lately, I hope you reach 300k soon!

I still have the original 1 & 2 on PS2. I loved this game
You can really tell that they spent more time working on this than they did on Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated.
I love that they made the controls much more simple. Makes much more fun to play
The dialogue is god tier
This was purely the Best Review ive seen of this Game yet though
12:27 "If I had a nickel for every alien invasion I experienced, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice."

I'm buying the remake off amazon this week
Have fun! 😎🎮

*nice*
Is was nice playing the game a few years ago and now playing the remake
One thing I’ve noticed which was removed from the original is the persistent burning effect on buildings when using the death ray. Overall great remake but I do wish they kept that effect, the immersion is slightly lost when the building goes from burning then 7 seconds later is restored like nothing happened.
I love your videos man!
Loved the original when I was a kid, so I picked this up day one. It's still just as fun as I remember.
Farm lady: "AAAAAAAAH LITTLE GREEN SPACE MAN!!!"
Crypto: "I... am not..... green!"

The characiture style npcs are ugly as sin, but it does suit the tone, and it makes them all the easier to obliterate.

@@electrobob992 Don't care. He looked green, and it was a joke.

I don’t really keep up with what video games are coming out much but I went to game stop and saw this and got so excited!
After a good while and finally on sale, i bought this game, my nostalgia and your review really helped me, thanks again Nick !
I played this on the ps 2 it was great I don't really like the character art style change but it's not completely off putting
Pretty much everything from the PS2 era was better, all these remakes testify it. The technology probably wasn't there, but the design didn't aim for microtransactions, loot boxes, add-ons, DLC, or season passes, it aimed for making complete fun games that the players would enjoy, and that's what made them better.
Im waiting for a jak and daxter remake you know they could turn that into a show or something too
These games are fun but I definitely think games have evolved for the better. replaying some old games such as spiderman 2. Hulk. destroy all humans. Star wars ep 3. They show their age. While fun they really don't hold a candle to something like the amazing story telling and gameplay of red dead 2 and witcher 3 or what have you. But games are games and these are fun. Appreciate both. Don't gotta be that guy saying "back in my day blah blah blah"
@@bignaaasty5096 There are some decent games today that are still very good. Nintendo first party games are usually fantastic. Sega has some very good stuff too, Namco, Tecmo, Square Enix, Atlus, Arc System Works, SNK, Capcom, not everything is lost.

@@bignaaasty5096 Some may be better, but many are definitely not, in fact older games still feel new to me, I don't even see them retro. Maybe it has to do with the fact that there are so many new games that look retro, so it makes the actual retro games feel new too..

Man..this looks amaaaazing!!
Old art style... remake looks graphically good but I don't like how cartoony npc's look.
I wouldn’t recommend buying it. Visually it seems cluttered and one thing I picked up on was the sound seems really absent at times. In fact I’d go as far as to say the sound in the original was better.
It came across to me like they weren’t going to do what all remakes do (I.e. copy and paste the game and just ramp up the textures) looked like they’re were genuinely going to polish everything...but it became pretty apparent to me within 5 minutes of playing that it’s exactly what they did.
I remember extracting brains being more disgusting visually and audio wise in the original, in this one it doesn’t seem the same.
Loads of details they’ve unnecessarily altered. Personally disappointed
