i couldn't find a lot of definitive answers on where his inspiration came from, and the few resources i had were conflicting, so i just went with the most common answer i could find,, i'll pin your comment as a correction and i'll keep from spreading the same misconception in the future !
With this game, there's so much potential! You can see that the designers had a story in mind, a world to build! They were trying something here, but dissapointing sales and a lack of content at launch killed it. Hope they can expand on these characters one day, a tv show would be cool! Something like Sonic Boom, hopefully.
yea i would definitely love to see more expansion on this, the comic that was supposed to come out was actually intended to do that, but it was cancelled (probably also because of declining sales / interest)
@@xephrou Sucks honestly, especially after seeing that Arms has one of the most diehard communities I've ever seen. People all around the world love Arms, even if it's a small community. At this point, I would love if Nintendo even just mentioned Arms. I started jumping when the game randomly got an update on 2022, it was a sign Nintendo still remembers it. If we ever get a sequel, I'll die happy.

You failed basic statistics and economics, didn't you?
MK8 is a freaking juggernaut franchise with over 10 games under it belt.
It also literally got the biggest face in gaming slapped on top of it.
It's also a game enjoyed by casuals, it wouldn't be anywhere near 60M if it was exclusively the sweaty hardcore proplayers buying it.
Meanwhile ARMS is a brand new IP that doesn't piggybacks off of featuring Mr. Videogames himself, and lacks any kind of legacy/old game as it isn't a franchise.
It's a fighting game, which by default means that it WILL sell waaaay less than other videogames, as most people stay away from the genre, specially casual players (the biggest chunk of the market).
And despite all of this it still sold nearly 3M copies, which is insanely good for a brand new IP in the fighting genre. Legends like SF have been around for longer and have a pre-established fanbase and legacy, and 3M copies is around what SFV sold iirc.
ARMS was nowhere near a failure or "underselling", unless if you're some delusional that thinks a new IP needs to dethrone Tetris and Minecraft in copies sold or otherwise it's a failure.

I truly regret selling this back in like 2020 when it became irrelevant. The thing is, I truly enjoyed my time with it. I got it in Spring 2018, 4 months after I got my Switch in Christmas 2017, which still works PERFECTLY after over 5 years of heavy usage, (except the original Joycons those things have been drifting for years) and the online was still really active. I even took part in some Party Crashes and got some of those extremely sought after character badges. I even unlocked every single Plus arm. I was juggling between this and Splatoon 2 during my teen years. (14-15) Now I'm 19, playing Splatoon 3. People seem to forget that the whole reason Min Min is in smash is because she won the final Party crash bash. I wish I could tell my 16 year old self to not sell this... Only now do I realize how much love went into this one off project. The music is incredibly underrated, and there's so many secrets about the game's world.
Thank God my save data from then is preserved through my Switch online cloud. How is this game almost 6 years old and is considered nostalgic now!? I can just feel this game achieving cult status like Earthbound and prices skyrocketing years from now when the Switch becomes retro. Time flies man.
I'M SO HAPPY SOMEONE MENTIONED THE FINAL PARTY CRASH THING because i was on team ninjara and wanted him to win so badly and when i found out min min was gonna be the arms rep for smash i got so upset that i hadn't logged on more for the final round because i'm pretty sure with how much i played i could have singlehandedly changed the outcome 💀
It would be cool if in a future ARMS 2 there is a mode where you fight yourself(or an ai based on the fighters' fights of the whole world). This would prove the fact that the arms league spy on the players and it would be cool, it sure is a way to test your skills
Finally, after searching in the desert for so long I found even more lore for my favorite game. Time to hyper analyze it for science.
This game still goes hard. Thank goodness for the random hyperfixation that caused me to get back into it.
I got the Switch in Oct of 2017, and ARMS was one of the first games I got for it. I love ARMS and the ides and gameplay behind it. And as much as I wish/hope for an ARMS 2, I don't
think ARMS made enough money for Nintendo to make another game. Master Mummy is the character I use the most, the "big strong brute" is hands down one of my favorite character types. And Dr.Coyle's theme is probably my favorite theme. I love the "You're in danger" / "You shouldn't be here" sound from it.
I loved Arms! Wish there was more content and I wish it was more popular.
Very good video. Definitely a game that is tailor made for an iceberg format. Something I just realized, the comic had the one panel of who I assume is a regular civilian woman with no intentions to compete in the League awakening to her arms ability when they were explaining how it worked. Makes me wonder how folks that have the ability but don't take part in the tournament live like. A few of the playable characters do indeed have careers already, so I figure it's not that bad of a situation as long as you get a mask.
yea like that was one of my main points to talk about both how the league accommodates regular people (just based off what's in the game) and i really wish they would have explored it a little more or in the comic's case, have gone through and have been able to explore it,, i can imagine it would be tricky to have the ability but not be a fighter, like the same thing you can get money and praise for can be a nuisance in everyday life, that kind of thing

I hope this game gets a sequel. Even though the game did well and people are still playing it and im still playing it as well. I wish it got a sequel we are in 2023

I want a soldier base character that has barb wire for arms. Helmet including. Where is he from? He could be US, which is a no-brainer. He could be British or German. A fun idea is that he is Swedish.

Huh, how interesting. After leaving this comment about the soldier's idea, I have been really thinking that he should be British. Why? WWI Helmet. An American one isn't too hard to figure out. But it is a very common type of character to see. But British it be more interesting. What do you think?

I ACTUALLY FIGURED THIS OUT TOO LATE AFTER I UPLOADED THIS but i think biff is in every end card in some way shape or form so i'm not sure if his being there has any bearing on the story (minus misango's because he's acknowledged in the description); i also started thinking biff might be an alien, because there's a line somewhere asking the potential roots of the arms gene and it says something like "documents back so long ago even say aliens might be responsible" and there's that medieval looking picture with something that looks like biff in it
@@xephrou Omg maybe biff is an alien and his race is responsible for the entire arms phenomenon which probably explains why he doesn't look like a person or animal
25:31 this might be a bit of a stretch but the 2 people with the arms ability look confused while the one that looks like biff is calm and looks like his explaining the arms ability to them. Also on a separate note the record on the top left kinda looks like it has helix arms i think that maybe researchers found some ancient DNA and and tried to clone it and thats what helix is. Just a theory tho 🤔🤔

As a video suggestion maybe you can do a video about Epic Mickey, it’s a game for the wii created in 2010 that is about a place where cartoon characters go when they are forgotten to time, (there is more to the story but that would kinda spoil the plot ) this game has very interesting lore/storyline and how it got screwed over by Disney when making the second game only giving them 2 years to make the second game before canning the series. Anyway I love your videos and you earned a new sub! :D

OMG FRR!!! it’s such an underrated game and I wish it got more love! I had the second game on my ps3 and then got the first game when I got the Wii. I gave up when I got to mean street though ;-; but I picked the game back up a year ago and I got hooked! I have several sketchbooks for fan art :,D

OH I KNOW... like i remember the anticipation i had for the comic because the writers were told they had basically free reign on deepening the lore and working with the backgrounds of the characters and i was so excited to learn more about everyone because i love these characters like my children almost... i do know that some copies of the first issue were given out for free comic book day at some point, there is a full scan of it available but it's only like eight pages? so it doesn't look like this was the full first issue and there's probably a lot more of it that was actually completed that we'll never get to see,,, it's interesting stuff, that's why i decided to save it for a separate video ^_^

When I found out this game had lore and you could unlock it throughout gameplay after acquiring buttons and stuff I was so in depth I would contact my friend about all the new lore panels. We played it together we made our own OCS on how they got their arms and we were stoked that there were rumors of an arms graphic novels on the winds (Thaaat sadly got cancled rip) suffice to say we were ARMS deep in the series. I really hope that within the year of 2025 when the new Switch console is revealed that arms will have a Resurgence and it will truly have its proper time to shine and I'll be there to devour all the tasty lore just like I did playing day one with my close friend again hearing that signature opening. "Ooooooooooh ooooooooh ohoh oooooooohoooooh~~" ❤😊🎶
i remember playing this game back in the day. the community was always super tight. we'd always have community tournaments hosted by guys like Schkrimps and CriticCat, neither of which still stream as per my knowledge. despite how small the fanbase was, it was very healthy, and the game even made it to Evo. it's just a shame how nintendo handled it.

I had a rose themed oc that was similar to twintelle in personality but more dramatic and graceful in movements and style
Her unique weapons where a large rose mitten with thorn ropes. Hitting people gave a poisoned effect.
And the secondary arm was a water canon. Similar to minmins dragon arm just shot water blasts instead that wet a characters arms similar to them being electrocuted.
Third arm is a arm that fires three exploding seed bullets
Unique skill is sheilding plants a seed that sprouts a flower that will shoot an arm out at you if close. Can only sprout one plant at a time.
Her involvement in the story was getting her flower shop and land more attention attention which she thinks will help her make the world more beautiful
OMG THAT'S SO WEIRD i have a rose themed oc and he owns a flower shop :3c i never did really develop him all that far to be honest, but i do have another oc that's water themed and i worked on him a lot more cuz he was more fun to me
@@xephrou Lmao the arms team should look into characters and getting fans involved with stories... Can def help build the fan base and fit the fighters all over the world but working with the fans and constantly adding in characters keeping it all active.

Ever since the switch came out this was the one title I kept going back to simply because the music was so infectiously good, love the gameplay too but always felt it needed a stronger substance, like the subspace emissary treatment smash brawl got
that's what i'm saying omg.. like the visuals are already very nice, i feel like a storyline and animated cutscenes would have been gorgeous!!
I wish the comic actually came out. Would’ve helped flesh out so much of the world.
I love arms
i remember seeing many times, it looks vary fun with how each fighter didn't only look interesting (by using different string ish things for stretchering arms) but also how they fight, heck after i saw Min Min and Twintel showing they still can use more then thar arms, i made up a fighter that was 2 ghosts and a person, the ghosts were the arms (with the stretchy part being Proton Pack beams from Ghost Busters) and a parson that was independent to the ghosts attacking. Even gave them a backstory were 2 ghosts wanted to join the ARMS leag but they need a main body to join, so they found a random person walking by, made a deal and that's it.

I absolutely adore ARMS! It has so much stylistic charm. The lively music, the artwork, the creative premise, the diverse cast of characters, the lore, etc. They have a solid framework here with so much potential. It would be a huge waste not to make a sequel that fixes the issues people had with the first. Add more content and give players more reason to want to play it. Make it happen, Nintendo!
being in love with this game is so hard cuz it's like getting attached to a horse you know is about to be sent away to turn into glue.... the most neglected nintendo series to date methinks

i recently started playing arms again, i forgot how awesome it is...
It's funny how once you know the lore, Min Min's Smash reveal makes no sense.
that is probably one of the things that makes me the most angry like.. the attention to detail with the other smash characters (sora and steve are two that come to mind in particular) was off the walls insane but nintendo couldn't extend that same care to an ip they literally own... i've never really said this out loud but my best guess is that min min in smash was a last ditch effort to save arms but the fact that they went into it half-heartedly basically set it up for failure and that is an atrocity against me that i can never forgive from nintendo

I just got arms 2 days ago and god its, so good!! Honestly the reason i got it is because of kid cobra… he just is so cool (all of them are incredibly well designed too, but hes just my fav) the game is super charming and the characters alone can just make you a fan

@@MakiMakoz THAT'S WHAT I'M HOPING FOR!!! with a new console, the chance for a new arms game is higher than it's ever been. i don't see that 1-2 switch would get a new game and not arms, cuz 1-2 switch sold like hot garbage compared to arms... they literally had to give 1-2 switch away in packages with the switch like be for real

And with splatoon the sequel splat 2, was released on the switch so what i think it’ll follow the same trend with 2 and 3 being in the same gen(assuming arms 2 will sell way more, then it’ll just be per new generation) also if they made a mobile game it would gave it a big boost of popularity, like have a freemium version of a game with no risk! (e.g. Mario kart tour, anch pocket camp, and Pokémon go)

So... I created somewhat of an OC for this game.
Name: [CLASSIFIED]
Basically, the Labs wanted to see if they could artificially give someone the gene. It worked... but at the cost of basically making [CLASSIFIED] into half human/half liquid.
How you play them: Basically, play it like it's Splatoon. [CLASSIFIED] constantly drips liquid every 10 seconds (don't think about that for too long), and being in that liquid gives [CLASSIFIED] a huge speed boost temporarily.
I love the game but for me the only down side is that the game has not yet add new skins to unlock new characters arenas ETC
I've had this game for several years now way before the pandemic
