    i wasn't able to write in any credits or anything because the timing was lagging so badly once i got to that part so my apologies! i will try to remember to come back and add those into the description when i chapter this out!

    Good news about Buzzy: The face is just a rubber cast made as a spare. It's not taken off of the animatronic. You can tell because the rubber where the eyes go is still present, and the seam for the glasses to enter is unbroken. If Buzzy is out there, he's not faceless. Great video!

    fun fact; dr. dux is the nickname of one of the people who worked on the chuck e cheese animatronics, the animatronic was named after the guy but the character's actual name is unknown, however it is assumed to be dr. quack or something similar to the man's name

    Coming back to this video because I adore it so much! I have always wondered why the big pizza chains [Domino's and Pizza Hut. Some Little Caesar's locations had animatronics], never made their own animatronic/arcade hybrids. Especially Domino's with their Noid mascot. Will Vinton created The Noid, The California Raisins, and a lot of beloved 1980s characters [I'm a 2000s kid but my mom introduced me to a lot of these vintage mascots and cartoons], but his studio was bought by Phill Knight [NIKE founder] and Travis Knight, who KICKED HIM OUT OF HIS OWN STUDIO and turned it into Laika. Vinton's story is one of the saddest ones, but there is a bright side, his version of the M&Ms characters are still used today and are still popular.

    This was a great video! I have always been interested in animatronics, and it all started with a Studio C Chuck E Cheese animatronic. A shame they're destroying the bots, though. While Avenger/early 2000s era Chuck E was my childhood, I actually prefer PTT era Chuck. He was snarkier, and had many funny quips, kind of like Oscar The Grouch. I also wish they kept Crusty the Cat, he was so cute and made a great foil to Chuck E. Chuck E Cheese actually also led me to another hyperfixation of mine: mascots. Whether it be fast food, food, drink, or theme park, I ADORE mascots. The 1970s animated version of Jack from Jack In The Box is one who is sadly underrated [overshadowed by the current era Jack], which is a shame, because he has such a cool design, and was voiced by Paul Winchell, the original voice of Tigger and inventor of the artificial heart. There's three ads [Baseball, In The Park, Jack In The Box Animated Commercial 1970s], three comics with records [How A House Makes Noise, Where Oil Comes From, How Pain Helps Us], and the Take Life A Little Easier jingle record on UA-cam if you're interested. Other mascots I adore are The Noid [Domino's Pizza, it's a shame what happened, but that wasn't Domino's fault.], The California Raisins [I love them, and I love Will Vinton's work in general, and I honestly just feel really bad for what happened to Vinton], Donny & Dottie Domino [Domino's Pizza, there's a compilation of Donny's ads here on UA-cam], Loveable Truly [Post Alpha Bits], Linus [Post Crispy Critters], the Kellogg's cereal mascots, and most of the General Mills mascots [I always felt bad for the Trix Rabbit, he very rarely gets any Trix]. Speaking of Will Vinton, I highly recommend watching the documentary Claydream, it's a good documentary, as bittersweet as it is.

      I ALSO LOVE MASCOTS i have a strange love for cereal mascots tbh but my favorite by far will always be the pillsbury dough boy because like. he just embodies everything i love, he's small and he's squishy and whimsical and i would be his best friend.. also a big kool aid man fan lol i need to do a video about mascots soon

      @@xephrou A video on mascots sounds awesome! Please talk about some of the more obscure ones, such as the 1970s Jack In The Box characters. They were very cartoon-y, and TBH, I prefer them over the Mcdonaldland characters. I'd also like to see you cover Donny Domino and Dottie Domino, they were also very cool, but sadly very obscure. Surprised Domino's is doing nothing with them, considering it's the 30th anniversary of the Donny ads this year [there's a compilation of some here on UA-cam]. There's even a Jack In The Box Wiki, which has tons of cool info on the mascots and the chain's history!

    Ah, coming in to clarify some things in regards to Buzzy. So firstly, there's an image here showing the figure in a red jumpsuit and blue hat. Some may be confused by this and the fact that the figure doesn't look like Buzzy in the animated pre-show. This is because he was originally a different character, Captain Cortex. (I am only mentioning this because I am terminally obsessed with this scrapped character, and he deserves acknowledgment. ❤)
    As for the Buzzy mask, that is not from the animatronic. It's a pull. You can tell based on the fact that his eye sockets are still covered with rubber skin. No hate to you. It's just a common misconception spread around.
    There's actually a ton of information about Cranium Command, and while Buzzy is still missing, a bunch of things have been found such as audio of the Colossal Pictures version, pictures of the Captain Cortex maquette and General Knowledge's beta design, storyboards for the pre-show and the only existing footage of the animatronic when it was Captain Cortex, for example.
    Honestly, I wish there was more coverage on the topic of Cranium Command beyond the theft. There's a lot to it that many are missing out on. Anyway, I'm leaving it here before I write a whole book on Cranium Command. I could go on for days about the silly little brain show if nobody stopped me. If you want more information, I highly recommend the Wonders of Life Archive.❤❤❤

      to be completely honest yea i do think i could have done a much better job sleuthing into this if i thought a little harder about how animatronics work, i did think that was a little strange that it looked like his eyes would have just been painted on.. i do plan on making a disney attractions video in the future! i'm not sure which ones i'll cover yet but i might consider revisiting this topic with a broader look!

    • @Soul-uv2uv
      @Soul-uv2uv 11 місяців тому

      @xephrou Would love to see it. Also you're fine. :D Misinformation about the topic is easy to come by. Even I fell for it. The only reason I know anything more about it now is because I couldn't stop searching about it. I'm still glad you mentioned the Buzzy/CaptainCortex animatronic. I think you're the first person I've seen mentioning him in a lost animatronics video, which is odd since I'd expect such a viral story to be covered.

    I wish they could have saved the Toys R Us Times Square Jurassic Park T-Rex animatronic, it looked so amazing! As someone who adores dinos [and my mom, an 80s person, also loves dinos and even introduced me to Land Before Time], I wish they could've preserved it. I'm especially mad over how Chuck E Cheese treats their animatronics, considering all the hard work that was put into them. I honestly wish another company would buy CEC out and give the entire chain another reboot, preferably with a more cartoon-ier, sort of throwback design for the characters. Especially for Chuck, who IMO, desperately needs to look more like a mouse and less like the gross rat/mouse hybrid Rockstar Chuck is. I have always been fascinated by mascots who change so much over the years, such as Chuck E, Ronald Mcdonald, and Jack from Jack In The Box. Jack especially, because his past is actually overshadowed by his present. He dates all the way back to the 50s, but IMO, the best incarnation was the 1970s one. He had a cartoony design, his mouth could actually move, and while he was more chill, he still had a fair amount of snark to him. His friends were awesome too, especially Secret Sauce Agent! Sadly, only three commercials [Baseball, In The Park, Jack In The Box Animated Commercial 1970s], and three comics with records [personal favorite being How A House Makes Noise] are on UA-cam, but I'm glad they're here. I just hope more of the 70s era of Jack In The Box will be found one day. Sorry if I've been repeating myself, but I'm currently hyperfixated on mascots, mascot history, animatronics, and 2000s toys.

    • @xephrou
      @xephrou  9 місяців тому

      ikr like i don't HATE the new designs for certain mascots but a lot of times the older ones are preferable not even just because of nostalgia but because they genuinely just look better and more timeless,,

  • @muppetsretrofan8873

    I still think that destroying animatronics is pointless, wasteful, and super disrespectful towards the people who worked on the animatronics. This doesn't necessarily just apply to Chuck E Cheese, but they are the biggest offender of destroying animatronics. Weirdly, Jack In The Box did something similar in the 80s, but towards the drive-thru clown heads and clown head signs. In the late 70s the chain was struggling, so they decided to become more mature, which included dropped Jack, as well as the Jack In The Box Bunch. They blew up some of the Jack clown heads in the commercials, and sent most of them to junkyards, but thankfully some managed to survive, and there's even a few in museums. Jack In The Box's history is incredibly crazy, this is just the tip of the iceberg. TBH, I prefer 70s era Jack, he had a more cartoony design, and was more upbeat, while still having a bit of snark. Kind of weird how similar my Jack In The Box and Chuck E Cheese hyperfixations are, starting with me preferring the older designs , right down to both chains destroying their history.

    • @xephrou
      @xephrou  9 місяців тому

      yea i think it's sad in particular that chuck e cheese animatronics are being so deliberately destroyed mainly because they are some of the better known ones,, it's something extra sad to see that prominent animatronics that are immensely important to the history of both the brand and the concept of animatronic dining entertainment are just as susceptible to being wiped out as any other lesser-known ones,, to "protect" their brand by destroying the very thing they're associated with just doesn't seem like a good business strategy
