Bose's new $300 flagship earbuds feature a smaller design, better sound, improved voice-calling performance and arguably the best noise-canceling out there right now in a headphone. CNET editor David carnoy explains that even though they're missing a couple of features, they're easily among the very top earbuds of 2022.

I have a pair of Bose ear buds (can’t remember the model #) and I’ve had them for years with no issues whatsoever. Recently I’ve had a problem with them holding a charge (only 10-15 minutes). I reached out to Bose and realized they are way past warranty but the lady I talked to told me to send them in and they would send me a brand new noise canceling earbuds for $164 . They are regularly $299 everywhere I looked. I sent them in and awaiting my new ear pods. Bose is a fantastic company. Note , I also had a problem with my old ones years ago that weren’t working and they sent me a new pair no questions asked. I will be dealing with Bose for the rest of my life. They are great and customer service is awesome! You get what you pay for
Great review! With actual sound bites from the buds on the streets of NYC. As a music aficionado, these buds with the great fit and superior ANC sound like the right choice for me. You hit on all the positives and also the limitations, very fair and objective review! Thanks!
Great review. I have first gen IPods pro, and first gen QC earbuds. I really like Bose and I have had the Bose QC 2 over a week now. They blow the other 2 out of the water for me. The fit is the best yet and the noise cancelling is honestly amazing. Sound quality is so superior to the 1st gen Bose QC also. I’m giving the 1st gen to my son. I highly recommend Bose QC 2
Can i use it for running?
@@hadiwid0d0 yes 100% the fit is really secure
@@kadianoreilly6665 thanks for the reply. I think i will get qc ii. 😍
Great review! Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
As always nice impressions Mr Carnoy, thanks for the review
The best review. Love your reviews, always.
Thanks for the support!
Excellent review! I am looking forward to getting my new BLUE QuietControl 2 earbuds this week.
Very informative for one shopping for self's Christmas present. The street test phone call smart demo. I also liked how one can turn off noise cancellation to talk with those nearby and then turn back on easily.
Terrific review! Ashamed to admit I still wear a pair of wired Bose Soundsports, and have been looking for a quality wireless earbud I can wear while working out. Really appreciate the top to bottom assessment of the Bose QC Earbuds. Impressed with the noise cancellation demonstration. Even more impressed that one of the scenes was filmed with a U.S. open tennis match being played in the background!
Thanks. That was actually the final of the U.S. Open :) Was testing them buds on the subway ride there.
Nice courtside seats too.
I use Huawei Freelace pro for my every day use including work.
Totally understand, The most comfortable earbuds I have ever owned were Bose wired soundsport! I could wear them all day long. Great sound, great fit and no ear fatigue!
Was in the same boat, they kept going flat after 2hrs .. and the sound was funny, probs as the batteries are weak .. ordered mine QC2 👍🏼
That call example was great. I'm amazed.
Great review thanks .. I wonder if you have a view of how these shape up compared to the Huawei Freebuds pro 2?
Spec wise the Freebuds appear to be superior in a number of areas (as the free buds pro were to the first series Bose Quiet Comfort)
I really like this guy's reviews, he's a very engaging speaker and the reviews are all fantastic and thorough!
thank u for using a live call to test, seriously. great vid
I've used bose and airpods pro. Bose is really good in noise cancelling.
How do they work on iPhones? I’m about to switch back to the galaxy
Sony
@@markking9263 so bose have an app, through which you can control your buds completely. unlike airpods pro where you can only switch between transparency mode and noise cancellation mode. here in bose you can even control the level of noise cancellation which is cool, at least for me. You can use them without the app but then you cannot control it.
@@krishnaSagar69 I still prefer the seamless connection of the AirPods Pro to iPhones. If you have Android bose is the way to go
@@yoitsjust yes and the airpods sec gen are even better. The connectivity in airpods is just great. I personally love it, whenever I'm switching between multiple devices it works like magic. I have an XR, X and a apple watch. my airpods pro switch so seamless when I play music on any of them. android has still a long way to create such ecosystem yet!
Great review and very good TWS earbuds but for me the heavyish weight (7g) and lack of multipoint is a deal breaker as this (high) price.
This was an excellent review, but I'm most impressed that he was willing to film himself and others inside a NY subway car. You never know how people are going to react down there, so that was brave.
That may be true but 90% of people on the subway just want to get on with their day
Great review. Looking forward to the comparison between the airpods pro 2 and this
I’m very happy with them, I had a pair of Jabra 75 Active Elite and they were useless, one bud would work and then not work, they wouldn’t pair so I got frustrated and splurged on these.
Bose has been in the audio game for a long time and know their stuff. I primarily brought it for the ANC thinking it would completely eliminate noise and hearing people, but it doesn’t, but no earbuds / earphones do. But you were right when you say it muffles sound about 50 - 60%, I agree with you there. It turns down the world around you by about 50%, even standing next to heavy traffic sound is greatly reduced. Listening to music is awesome, sound is clear and crisp and you can't hear anything else when listening to music, they fit comfortably and can move your head all different directions and the sound isn’t compromised, awesome buds, very happy with them.
It would be nice in the future if they could develop the noise cancelling even further to 90% but they’re great, a bit pricey but Bose always is, recommended.
I really wish it had spatial audio and kept the wireless charging at that price point. I rarely carried my first gen in pocket due to the size so a smaller case is welcome. I really hope multipoint connections do come and soon, I kind of expected it to have it.
What does multi point allow you to do ?
@@papermaker2726 It allows you to pair the device with 2 sources e.g. your phone & your laptop. This allows you to quickly switch between the two sources on the fly.
Bought mine from AirPods 1st gen to Bose earbuds 2, been waiting for these on my country to be release, it sounds really good n ANC work really well in my office n workout as well, I consider buying another bose product like headphone in the future
Thank you for the synopsis.
Does the left or right works independently for phone calls like airpods? Predecessor left alone can’t be used for call
Thanks for your review! Question: can I use ANC while wearing only one bud? When I sleep, I only put the earbud in the ear that's not on the pillow, and I need ANC.
I LOVE QC ORIGINAL BUDS THE WING TIPS ARE EXCELLENT AND MADE THEM FOR ME BEST FITTING ONES I OWNED CAN'T SEE THESE FITTING BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS
Great review, thanks for sharing. I really like the Bose, but I think I am going to go with the AirPod pros just because of the “Find my” feature.
Tracking capabilities seems to be the big dividers between the rival earbuds all around. I keep forgetting where my earbuds are,,even if I forget them in a hidden part of my house. It can be stressful if you can’t find airbuds/earbuds that cost this type of money.
I'm highly considering these earbuds but I'd much prefer to get them in the purple colour. Any idea when we might see more colour options than black and white?
Cool video will wait for some more reviews before I purchase.
I’ve using it for a few weeks now, the sounds really good as well as the NC much better than my beats fit pro. My only issue with the earbud is sometimes when I take it off from my ear, bluetooth would not reconnect.
YES!!!! I’ve been looking for more info on this. I have an iPhone and I have to repair it sometimes. Like the pairing between the Bose app and the phone isn’t communicating correctly.
My wife & children surprised with a pair of these for Christmas. 🎄 Very good!
thank you for the review.
I'm thinking about buy them, I got Jabra 75th, all I care about it's music.
Is they better than Jabra?
Thanks! Great video!
Are the ear tips the same as other brands where they go inside the ear canal? The StayHear tip prevented somehow the tip to go all the way in
Are the tips in-ear or like the previous gen?
Look forward to the comparison to the AirPods 2
Just ordered a pair of these. I had an old pair of Bose wireless earbuds that would only hold a charge of about 15 minutes. So I called Bose to see if they could do anything for me (being how the warranty was way expired), they said to send the old ones in and I could purchase the new ones for around $150 + tax. The total came to $164.00. I can’t wait to get them . I really loved my old earbuds as I used them for talking on the phone a lot and listening to my music. I just hope these work good and hopefully the charge lasts a while. Can’t wait to get ‘em!
Mine come today. I can’t wait to try them out.
I plan to use these mostly for phone calls while driving. Two questions: 1). Is there a standby battery life if all I'm doing is waiting for a call? 2). Do you have to use both at the same time? Thanks.
I personally owned the first QC generation. I returned them, because there was a buzzing with voiceover while using them voice over with speak back to me on my phone it would buzz in the air, but having said that they fit my ears very well. They sounded really good and the noise cancellation was second to none. I have never owned these second generation, but what I do not understand is how can you bring out a new product and take away wireless charging what you want sad and how do you not give multi point connectivity when it has the chip in it to do it from the get-go now these may be some amazing earbuds for what people want to use them for and I'm sure they are and I'm sure if I had a pair I would love the sound quality because that's what's most important to me but I just don't understand how you can come out with a new generation, and take features away And not give features that the earbuds already have the ability to have from the get-go and not give it to you from the start
Thanks for the video … I like the design of these … I find that most of the current EarBuds do better with just listening to Music/ Videos … Mic quality could be hit or miss depending voice tone and how loud one talks…
I bought this for noise cancelling feature and did not disappoint. One thing still missing from Bose earbuds: "Only one device can be connected at a time". That sucks.
Glad I saw this comment.. I was just about to order some, but that's a big feature for a $300 pair of wireless buds to be missing.
@@SUBtrauma they just added a firmware update and now can do either bud by itself
Thank you for an excellent video! Really appreciate the honesty and thoroughness of your review.
My take - as a fan of Bose, these look like a really great update from the previous QuietComfort earbuds. Better noise cancellation, the microphone quality definitely sounds improved (albeit could still be better), and the smaller form size of both the earbuds and the charging case.
However, I'm off-put with the lack of wireless charging and bluetooth multipoint. I agree that the latter will most likely be unveiled in a future update, but the lack of wireless charging seems odd.
I'll most likely stick with the first-gen for now. But future upgrades building from this look promising! Excited to watch your review then!
Thanks for the comments. It's a shame Bose doesn't offer some sort of trade-in situation like Samsung does for its buds!
Waiting for the comparisson with the new apple pro buds as I'm trying to decide which to buy
Thank you sir, can you use each ear bud independently? Taddeo from Durham, NC
I'm using bose earbuds as I'm watching this. They are amazing and work very well. Love the noise cancelling since I am very noise sensitive. You can't go wrong with these things. The price is definitely worth it!
Best noise cancelling in the market for sensory sensitivity! I’m so excited for my v2s arriving tomorrow
Hi Maria, do you have a hearable white-noise when noise cancelling is on? With the first version of the earbuds there is nothing than pure silence, with the 2nd version I can clearly hear a white-noise.
@@marcobehrens3740 I use the first version. They are perfect enough for what I need them for. I wouldn't mind the white noise because that's what I use to fall asleep with anyway. No big deal for me. So I don't think I would be much help with your question
@@mariagricius8994 does it work on hummer noise?
What about comfort on the ears is it good ?
One issue I hope Bose corrected was the connectivity to iOS; the Sony’s just instantly-connect vs my Bose buds (quiet comfort - larger version ) take a few tries to get them to flash blue and be paired. There is no way you can put them in and answer a call.
Mine connect instantly
My 700s connect instantly even between my iphone and windows work computer within 1-2 seconds.
Mine also comnect instantaneously
Is the noise cancellation BETTER than the older version which I have now?
How does it compare to Senheiser Momentum True Wireless 3?
I am loving mine. The case in my QC originals would no longer close. Called Bose and they replaced them with the QC2's. I also have the Sony 1000xm3 that would not hold a charge for longer than an hour. Still trying to get Sony to repair or replace them. Now I'm going through Assyrian. Sony won't have to worry a out me in the future. These QC2 Earbuds are awesome.
I have them and love them. But feel the volume is low. Using on s22 ultra. Any tips?
Does the Bose feature Vent system for pressure equalization?
But can you use the left independent of the right yet?
I love the sound and noise cancelling, however, I am on my 4th replacement pair. All have the same issue. These are my first truly wireless, bluetooth headphones. Maybe this is to be expected. Frequently they are like switching modes while in use. It's hard to explain. Not cutting out, but some type of switching. Maybe one ear to the other, or quiet to aware, not sure. Is this normal or should I expect better. I feel like this is not normal. Any help is appreciated. Of course, I am past the return date and am now stuck with them
They are simply amazing… having used the Apple AirPods Pro, and the Sony WF-1000XM4, This are far better in every way, the noise canceling and the sound is just amazing.. love love love them
Ordered one yesterday 🎉, excited to receive it tomorrow 🕺 😊
Whats your review of these buds bro, like I have seen people say they have superior sound quality than apple and Samsung, is this true ? And what about ANC ?
This vs Sennheiser momentum 4 on sound quality alone which sounds better ?
Great video; thanks! When can we expect to see the QC Earbuds II vs. Airpods Pro 2 video?
Well, stay tuned for my AirPods Pro 2 review video. May have some comparisons in that one :) AirPods Pro 2 ship September 23.
Same. When is the embargo dropping down?
@@RyyS looks like we'll see it sometime on, or shortly after, September 23. The Bose QC EB II shipped on the 15th, and this video was released the same day.
I`ve had these for about a month. I consider them the standard against which all other earbuds should be measured. I use them a lot, especially on noisy building sites. If the techs at Bose read this, as a hobby musician, I would love to have the ability to select the level of Active Sense Noise Cancelling when I am playing so that I can cancel out some of the volume which protects my hearing without blocking out too much of the live sound I am hearing. That would be incredible. For now, I will just disable the Active Sense on the gig as I still have the natural dampening available by the buds themselves. I use the buds to cue my intro music cheat clips before a song starts. Very handy. These buds are worth every penny and I`ve spent stupid amounts of money on inferior brands. Save yourself a ton of money buying junk and just buy these.
not better than the sony x1000m5 earbuds
@@kavid8120wayyyyyy better than that sony junk.
You can do that.
On the app add a mode and set the level of noise canceling you want. You can add 2 custom modes.
@@kavid8120 I tried the M5”s and got zero noise cancelling. They rely solely on noise dampening. Maybe I got a defective pair?. I sent them back the next day. I tried two different sets of linkbuds and they had minimal noise cancellation. I’m a Sony fan but unfortunately, and to my great disappointment, they don’t compare to Bose noise cancellation technology in the earbud line.
@@kavid8120~ I respectively disagree. In some aspects they are actually superior. One being BASS subwoofer is unmatched. M5 loses. ANC almost the same. Bose has slight edge. M5 loses. Fit is locked, snug, tight fit & so dam comfortable on Bose. M5 loses. Everything else M5 knocks it out the park. U can't go wrong with either one. It's truly a matter of preference at this point. Oh, & price. Forgot to mention that as well. Bose wins in that department too. Love M5 but I own both. I tend to use the Bose more. How they implemented that subwoofer. It's like dam! Bose is the Ultramagnetic Bass King 👑 👑 👑 Hands down.
What is that purple version? I'm really curious to know
Most exciting thing I heard in this review is that multipoint may be coming in the future
Got this and air pods pro 2 on the way
How they sound in comparison with original ones? Original ones sound SUPERB
Can you please review also the B&O beoplay EX?
I'm buying these for the noise-cancellation as should anyone who's interested. Musicality is not something to stress about when you're going for convenience, hence TWS earbuds.
I wished though that call quality wasn't so over-processed and robotic.
I wonder if you can use one at a time? A lot of times for safety and work. I only have one ear phone in at a time now granted. That's gonna limit the noise but that's not my big issue.
Great video 👍
I wonder how these compare to the Quite Comfort 45 in terms of ANC?
Just got a pair, feel great, great sound, listening podcast, but when i get a call, I can hear the convo but my microphone in some way is not working, any tips please
Thanks
What app are you using
I heard that we can't use single earbud (to answer the phone calls) by keeping the other one in the charging case. Is that true?
Gotta fo a video of the status between pros. I been seeing allt of adds of them snd what is unique with them are the triple druvers but I really dont know and would like to have your review
Even tho I’m not getting them, I do like the content.
These better than ultra?
I just got my set the only issue I had was that after 10 months the left ear would not connect lthis happened twice so this is my 3 set I pray that this has been fix these seem to be better on all features thxs bose for exchanging them twice C/S are great
Aside from the noise canceling and supreme sound, the comfort is awesome.
Please compare this with Airpod 2. Especially ANC feature!
Can these switch between devices eg iPhone to iPad and back without having to disconnect one device like the over ear noise cancelling headphones?
I love these airbuds but how do you turn off the ambient white noise? I find it incredibly annoying
Will these fit well in my smaller ears? This is my main concern. The Sony xm4s were extremely uncomfortable for me, I had to send them back.
That I don't know for sure. But Bose has 90-day trial and return policy. And I just noticed on the the earbuds' product page that Bose is selling an "Alternative Sizing Kit" that includes XS and XL tips along with two other sizes of stability bands (it's all the way at the bottom of the page). Would have been nice if Bose mentioned that to me (would have included that little factoid in the video). We have a link for the QC Earbuds 2 product page in the description above.
@@davidcarnoy961 Thanks for that. Hopefully I won't need that, but I'm glad there is at least that option there.
I do love my QC’s. But Bose missed the mark on the voice call Quallity and seems to only have slightly improved.
Does it work with single bud either right or left????
I am trying to help a colleague who had to replace their charging case when the one that case with the ear buds got broken. They have not been able to successfully pair the ear buds with the replacement case. Anything I should know to make this process go more smoothly?
can they use Dolby Atmos from Apple Music?
just bought these today at Target for the Black Friday sale and I do not regret this one bit. I was debating between these or the new AirPods Pro, but stuck to my guns and got these instead. I highly recommend if anyone is in the market for Earbuds to get these. I have the AirPods 3rd genertion and both beats studio buds and beats earbuds and Sony Xm10004 earbuds and these are by far the best.. I had to get these to go with the QC45's..
Why cant the left side work while the right side is charging?
I own this model people say they cant hear my voice that there is too much background noice is there a way to fix this isue?
Can you please test them against the Samsung Galaxy Pro 2
Can you hear out of both earbuds during phone calls?
David Carnoy OG of youtube reviewers.
Let's TALK beef... I paired them with iPHONE SE. The sound is great. BUT.... I cannot manage my songs.
1- Other earbuds allow me to visually identify which song is playing on my music list (either with a distinctive color or an equalizer image). Not these.
2- I am unable to change songs using the list on my iPhone. The earbuds keep on playing their song.
I followed the instructions to pair them, but I could not find a solution to my problem.
Should I return them? It's only about a week since I have them.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
thanks! I'm to order one today. the noise cancellation is the main reason for me. the apple earbud pro's is so amazingly lousy, can't compare to Bose QE. I don't think I'll waste my money on pro2 or their future ones.
I bought a pair last month won't need any earbuds for years it blocks noise perfectly for my ears anyways
How do you see how much charge your pod has?
Dose it support multipoint connect?
Do these cause irritation to your ear like them prior model?
Are they able to block barking dogs? Thanks for your video.
A barking dog would be partially muffled. How much would depend on what kind of bark it was (while much better than the previous model, the earbuds can only muffle mid and high frequencies only so much).
Beautiful. I want one.
I concur, I prefer these to my Sony XM4 and Bose QCII stay put better than the Airpods Pro 2. For fit the Beats Pro are near better but the Bose surpass everything for noise cancellation and is just spacial audio away from beating Airpods and Beats. The only downside is the multi-point is pretty archaic. Having to go into the app and manually switch their Bluetooth from up to 6 devices. Still these Bose would be near the top of my recommended list.
I really enjoy and look forward to your reviews.
I have the previous version of these (QC1), they felt a little uncomfortable after a while - my ears would hurt a bit. How are these in terms of comfort compared to the QC1?
Thanks for watching. I do think they're more comfortable. Some of that has to do with the buds being smaller and lighter. Also, the two-piece Fit Kit system is better than I thought it would be.
@@davidcarnoy961 why do you keep saying sand stone. It’s soap stone. You’ve made this mistake so many times it’s a bit sad
