So I had the Bose 700. After several years of daily service in the gym, tube, trains, planes etc. they have died. Needless to say I was saddened by this. With little hope I contacted Bose regarding the issue. It took me less than a minute to have them confirm the issue and have a label issued for me to return them for a replacement. However they no longer make the 700s... so they are sending me the qc ultra instead. I mean A pair I bought for 200 pounds is being replaced for free for a brand new pair of 370 pound cans. In terms of customer service support warranties always choose Bose. My xm3s I had before died and Sony offered little support in comparison dance why I ended up buying a pair of the 700s. If you're buying a pair to last a long time. Then id say trust in Bose as they will do right by you.
I had an amazing experience with Bose and their customer service. I lost one of my earbuds and asked if I could get a discounted price If I sent in my 1 earbud and case. They ended up sending me a free pair in replacement
I had a similar experience with my Earbuds. The case of my QuietComfort 1 Earbuds broke after 1,5 years i contacted their support they gave me a shipping voucher for the buds and 2 weeks later they sent me the Quiet Comfort Buds Ultra for free. Just that experience gives me so much trust in their product.

Although I’m no audiophile, I still love my old QC 35’s , buttons for everything , very good userbility for me , that said my ear cups have taken a beating, I’d certainly entertain giving either of the tested phones a run . Thanks for the review guys.
Excellent review, just bought yesterday sony with discount 290€. There are just 2 stores in Croatia with Bose model and can't wait anymore. So far Sony are excellent and now I have Bose soundsport and sony 5.
@DHRME hey I question my mother wants headset that comfortable but she dnt like fact the cup to big for her little face and small.head top her head very sensitive even with adjustment and she dnt like sweat when you wear them long time what one u suggest
I bought the Sony WH-1000 XM5 and i do really like them. Unfortunately the headband gives me so quickly such a headache that i am reconsidering if i should return them and buy the Bose. I've been a bose girl for a long time too and tried the QC Ultra out and loved the sound on them and also felt they were more comfortable on my head.. Anybody else gets headaches from the Sony? By the way the sony are definitely doing an amazing job in many ways like ANC, phonecalls are lovely to have with them and music is also good even tho i prefer a bit more base...
So true, just bought an xm5, compared it with bose there are not much difference and the sound quality is better in the sony, I am really happy about saving 100 pounds.
Hi, I bought the Bose Ultra because from what I have seen the Sony XM5 has a weak pivot where the ear cup connects to the headband that can break. The Bose seems durable. And because I thought the ANC might be a little better on the Ultra which is important for my use. My right ear does feel the tighter clamping, however, my Sennheiser PXC-550s used to be that way and eventually became more comfortable. I wish they had the 60+ hr battery the Sennheiser Momentum 4 has so that they would last twice as many years... I would have bought the Sennheiser Momentum 4 if it had as good of ANC, but they came out years ago. The ANC on the Bose means I'm not being woke as I sleep days and that is HUGE! Thank you for an excellent review.
Bose are very customer focussed, I had the QC ultra earbuds, loved them but the connectivity issue was driving me insane, called, spoke to Bose, I was well outside the 90 risk free trial, they offered to exchange for the QC ultra headphones, free of charge, shout out to Bose 🙏🏻
Try them both in store FIRST. I was all about the XM5 until I went to the store and tried them on. The earcups are shallow, and my ears were constantly touching the inside. The Ultra are extremely light, and I forget they are on. Comfort alone is a deal breaker.
Good review. Dealbreaker for me would be Bose requires unit to be ON if you use wire, thus using battery which is already rated fewer hours. Sony can listen passively with no impact on battery.
I've had the Bose Ultra for 6 months and the earpads have fallen apart as they are glued..... I've just sent them back to Bose for an exchange. I previously had the Sony XM3 and never had an issue with them so I'm seriously considering the XM5.... From what I have researched I can only see the Bose earpads becoming unglued again and again.
well stated on the unreliability of the app connection and connection in general. I do however use the app alot, mainly to switch between my EQ preference when listening to music vs videos, so the unreliability gets really annoying and tell it as a major con when im asked about the Bose quietcomfort ultras.

Guys, this is first time I am watching your video, and its great I really love it, really detailed review on both of the headphones ! Keep up the good work!
Used both for couple of days. Decided to keep Sony. It’s more comfortable and I like the sound better. The controls are easier. And the Silver looks kicker!
@@user-yk5lv8iw8x did you think the Bose were too tight? I’m looking to buy new headphones and I wanted the Bose QC Ultra but a lot of reviews are saying they’re not comfortable if you have a larger head, which I unfortunately do :(
The touch feature for volume was a big dealbreaker for me for the sony headphones. I thought I could deal with the fact there wasn't tactile buttons but the touch was still a problem. While working out, my shoulder hit the right headphones and changed the volume ( to super loud).
I just recently bought the Sony headphones and I tried them for my workout too. Had the same issue. you can turn off the touch panel (I did that) for the time and after just switch back on. i didn't find it problematic, but of course it can be a deal breaker for some people 😄
@@vertigo_yt296 Well that's of course very subjective. I'm very happy with the Sony, this is my first higher end headset and I absolutely love it. But I've never tried the Bose ones, so it would be unfair to say that Sony is better. But for someone like me, who needs noise cancelling because of commuting a lot, I love the automatic sound adaptation the Sony comes with, it's very user friendly, it's comfortabl, and I love the sound quality (I'm a bass girl though 😊)
I tried both of them and returned Bose headphones because their clamping force and strong cabin pressure started making nauseous after a hour, but their anc was excellent and sound quality was an upgrade from the QC45. I returned Sony because the noise cancelling for crowd noises in library or at school is weak, weaker than my bose qc ultra earbuds.
@@vahidasgari4767 so qc ultra earbuds are excellent, comfortable and no strong cabin pressure. They are way stronger than the sony xm5 headphones and earbuds at blocking sounds of people talking. But I went thru two different pairs of Bose qc ultra earbuds because the left side keeps making hissing, popping, and crackling I sadly had to return them. Though it was just mine but on youtube and google a lot of other people have the same problems.
In a previous comment on another video, i talked about long press on buttons, but now you've convinced me that long press is not that great eithe. And I agree, when on the move, especially biking or other quicker move methods, long press is not that nice.
Will the Bose ULtra cancel out bass thumping from the neighbor across the street? It makes me crazy. It's not that it's loud, it simply permeates my body.
Great review with quality content. But after watching all these reviews on various platforms including UA-cam, I genuinely found the XM5s makes more sense than the QC ultra. I'm not favouring Sony, but for all those unbiased tech geeks and nerds out there will agree that Sony is the overall rounded package. Even after 2 years, XM5s are just 🔥🔥🔥
Volume dial is a most! Since the phone only has 13 steps and jumping from one to another can be way to much. Is good to have a different volume of the headset on top of the phone
500 Euro for the Bose. damn, Thats about 830 Australian dollars. I picked up the Bose Ultras for about 550 Australian dollars, the retail usually for $650. Ive always been a Sony person over BOSE but I love the ultras alot.
Funny enough you can’t buy ear pad replacements matching the sandstone color from Bose. I had to cancel the order and went for the black ones. Bose, you do special color but not replacement pads? What were you think?
3:05 ocd is a serious condition for many of us. I know the common language started using it like it's some funny little quirk, but in reality it is a life crippling issue. Just wanted to let you know, in case you didn't.
Nice review guys and funny as usual. Question: If that sound signatures are too boomy, why not throw the new PX7 S2e into the ring? Should be a lot more linear and have all buttons. 😉 Would be great to see your take.
In India, there are not much options for lossless audio streaming services leaving apple music (for the same i do not own apple device to subscribe to it). So do you both or anyone think Sony's DSEE technology is relevent to use for its upscaling or Qualcomm drivers with APTX Adpative is itself better deal.
I have owned both for a year now and both are excellent, but I find myself picking up the Bose most of the time. I find them easier to use and more stable. I am never quite sure of what the Sony is going to do next. I simply like simple. Bose has the quality and is simple.
Right now in Italy there is about a 40€ difference between these two. I tried the xm5 for about an hour. I found them comfortable, but I was pretty disappointed by the sound profile. I bought a pair of Momentum 4 which I am considering returning though because despite their very nice sound I found them uncomfortable. The clamping is too strong for me… I am considering Bose now, but I don’t think I’ll get a chance of trying them. They LOOK so comfy, also knowing past models, but I’m worried about hearing they also struggle with excessive clamping… I am very indecisive right now, but I will say that for my use case comfort comes before everything else, I wanna be able to have them on without discomfort for long periods of time
@@latishsalian2747 DHRME had asked for a song to test the bass. So in twitter I suggested a song which they used in this video. It was "Hollow (16-Bit Remix) By Bjork" I use that song for my UA-cam reviews too
Thanks for your review. I have a XM5. I had problems with multi device. When I received a call from my phone, there was a problem to start with headphone. I updated my IOS ant now there is no problem about that. You can maybe add this comment in your videos.
Had the QC35 and upgraded to Ultra. The 35's are def comfier. But the Ultra's are still comfy enough (esp compared to my ATH-M50 and Corsair Virtuoso Wireless XT). I'd say aside from weight, the earpads seal is tighter and wraps around the ears more (positive for better sound and passive noise cancellation but negative for slight discomfort vs 35's)
Has Bose fixed their ear cups to not have a glued seam? It will inevitably split open and you have to constantly replace them. I have the QC 35 and 700 and won't get any more Bose headphones due to this issue.
The reason they don’t have multiple buttons for changing noise cancellation is that once you get used to their basic noise cancellation, you don’t want to change it. And the fewer buttons the better. you even address that later in the review, that less buttons is better, but somehow you don’t think less buttons is always better. No I admit Bose doesn’t always get this right but they do try to balance usability versus complexity.
Have you noticed the creaking sound in one or both of earcups on Bose QC Ultras? It’s quite mild but you may hear it when you’re not playing anything..
Hey there! Great job, thanks for your videos! Could you tell me please which one of them more suits for audiobooks and podcasts, I mean where are voices more natural and pleasant? Actually I already got Bose qs ultra and find them quite good for listening audiobooks but still I can change them if Sennheisers make the job with voices better than Bose. Or maybe there is better headphones for my purpose? Thanks in advance.
I owed both and the Bose definitely win. The Sony's are too quiet at high volumes even after the software update. I have to download an equaliser online and the Sony still couldn't perform.
Good morning everyone. Please do not buy these headphones (sony X5) if you plan to work out. It constantly falls off your head since the material is too soft and slippery. I bought it and had to return it the next day cause it would not stay on! But if you do not plan on working out or going on a run. It's a great headphone with a good sound system and soft material.
Which one do better in voice passthrough? like when you are in networking event and you want to block background noise but have the voice of the people speaking to you filtered to hear them more clearly?
Guys, please please please compare these 2 with Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2e (not S2, heard its improved and better)!!! I’m sooo waiting for it. I don’t know why nobody is talking about it even though it in the similar price point.
your reviews are top notch..well done....the soundcore Q45 are on sale here for 130 ( canadian ) 95 ( USD )would you get these over the sennheiser HD 450BT same price as the soundcore or the Edifier WH950NB for 179 ( canadian ) 130 ( USD ) ? All i want the headphones for is watching movies / utube / listening to music so sound is very important...i am not concerned with how good the noise cancellation is or the phone calls either....out of those 3 that i listed which would you recommend for my needs..... or is there one not listed which might work better ?....thx a bunch...cheers from Canada
This as a great comparison Video! Great job homies!! I did just purchased a pair of QC Ultra's thanks to your video. I think I figured out the volume control. You treat it like a little wheel. Keep your finger in one place and scroll down and volume goes down smoothly. Scroll up in one place and volume goes up nice and smooth. Just like is was a little fixed wheel. Actually its not bad. Or you can do a big swipe and volume goes up or down quickly. Check it out.
I liked the bose alot - sadly i got a shitton of connection issues... they wont connect automatically to my pixel 8 pro and want to do the full setup everytime... also power off option after x minutes never worked
Yeah! Thank you for this excellent video! I do prefer the Bose Quiet Confort Ultra Headphones, especialy for his active noise cancelling. I just find that better than all I have heard so far. I like my 1000-XM4, but the QC Ultra Headphones is really better! I agreed about this price, too expensive for the moment, but for sure, I thing it will be decrase in 2024. My little deception is in the incapacity to connect a losslest USB-C sound on it. For the rest, this Bose QC Ultra Headphones is for me.
Great and hilarious review. The only thing that I didn't like was the mic test. You could spend a little more time on the mic giving a longer examples. You said that Bose's is almost as good as Sony's. However, if you check any other QC Ultra vs WH-1000 XM5 videos, you will notice that the QC's mic quality is abysmal. Total garbage.
Wow! Loved the video. Was confused between XM5 and QCU for sometime. But finally decided on QCU and grabbed at a price of USD 311, Sony was coming out to be USD 298 (Both in India) . Loving these cans, however reddit had scared me a bit about the issued of split earpads and what not. Only time will tell 😅
Good thing I found this channel! I have a pair of AUSDOM headphones that I bought at Wal-Mart that I've had for a year now and THEY ARE HORRIBLE. Watching this video, I think I might just be picking up the Bose Comfort Ultra. Found these bad boys in person at Best Buy while shopping for replacement headphones for my AUSDOM headphones. I also have the MONODEAL headphones that I also DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING. The headband foam is ripping off of mine. I tested the Comfort Ultra out and oh God, they ARE MY DREAM HEADPHONES! With the AUSDOM headphones, I was playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and I could STILL HEAR EVERYONE TALKING, even WITH ANC switched on! I do NOT recommend the AUSDOM headphones or the MONODEAL headphones. 100% DO NOT GET THESE HEADPHONES! Thanks for the tips, guys!
New subscriber, I like hearing both you guys giving your opinions with products, as it works great:) Note, I wouldn’t make the price my primary decision, instead I would say my favourite is Bose for example. Saying I’m ok with the price difference or I’m not, but if you do want the best its Bose or Sony. If your broke your probably watching the wrong video anyway. Cheers !! Thanks for the video.. 😂😂
sony mx5 look huge on my head but I like touch. The qc ultra look better, better anc and sound but the pause button does not work and so going to get another pair. If they still don't work what should I do?
Sony Sennheiser and Bose are producing some quality headphones lately, its a hard choice. I think i may take a break from the norm and get me those Bose Ultras. Superb upload lads, love from Dublin. 👏🏻👊🏼🇮🇪👊🏼
Hey! I am getting Sony XM5s for around 300 dollars and XM4s for 228 dollars. Should I go with the XM5s or save the money and get XM4s? Money isn't really a problem , just want to know if the 5s would be better.
Returned the MX5_, hated the band, uncomfortable and don't care for touch controls...plus actually didn't care for the sound of the MX5...so got the new Bose Quiet Comfort, not the Ultra. Honestly, liked the MX4 better than the 5, but lost them in Switzerland!
No Aptx support on any Samsung phones!! Returned and got Sony XM5 and using Ldac now. Noise canceling on the Bose had a little hiss as well, were Sony does not. Just little info no reviewers will say.
They mentioned both the supported codec and the hiss. They even played the white noise in the video where you could hear the hiss. You didn't even watched the video, just game to push your agenda.
Do you guys think the Sony is better choice on a Samsung android phone, because of the LDAC support? The QC Ultra would only support SBC and AAC, both are a lower quality audio codec than the LDAC. Would this mean a significant, noticable difference in audio quality?

The clamping is too strong for me…
I am considering Bose now, but I don’t think I’ll get a chance of trying them. They LOOK so comfy, also knowing past models, but I’m worried about hearing they also struggle with excessive clamping… I am very indecisive right now, but I will say that for my use case comfort comes before everything else, I wanna be able to have them on without discomfort for long periods of time
Can confirm that this little volume trick is also working with my XM4s too. Tnx for the tip.
Nice video btw & keep up the good work. NAMASTE
Cheers Dimitrios!
Awesome video as usual guys. 🧡
Also nice to see my song recommendation has made it into your testing cycle 🙂
Hehe for sure!
which songs??
@@latishsalian2747 DHRME had asked for a song to test the bass.
So in twitter I suggested a song which they used in this video. It was "Hollow (16-Bit Remix) By Bjork"
I use that song for my UA-cam reviews too
Thanks for your review. I have a XM5. I had problems with multi device. When I received a call from my phone, there was a problem to start with headphone. I updated my IOS ant now there is no problem about that. You can maybe add this comment in your videos.
love the mustard oil hack to keep the ears well moisturised
Sony Customer Support might not!
How is the cabin pressure on these. The QC 45 was more than I could handle (plus no normal mode).
Would you guys say the older QC series ( 35ii, 45, and the new QC 2023, considering pretty much identical design ) have better comfort than the Ultra?
To me regular QC 2023 were slightly more spacious and comfy than QC Ultra. But don't get me wrong, both doing a great job on that matter.
Awesome review guys, was looking for upgrade on Bose NC700, and you helped me make that choice
Has Bose fixed their ear cups to not have a glued seam?
It will inevitably split open and you have to constantly replace them.
I have the QC 35 and 700 and won't get any more Bose headphones due to this issue.
You can replace the pads
The reason they don’t have multiple buttons for changing noise cancellation is that once you get used to their basic noise cancellation, you don’t want to change it. And the fewer buttons the better. you even address that later in the review, that less buttons is better, but somehow you don’t think less buttons is always better. No I admit Bose doesn’t always get this right but they do try to balance usability versus complexity.
Have you noticed the creaking sound in one or both of earcups on Bose QC Ultras? It’s quite mild but you may hear it when you’re not playing anything..
Soo… only a small part is about the actual sound quality. Which ones sounds better?
Can the boss quiet comfort ultra support lossless audio from Apple ?
Is there any cabin pressure with the Bose? I heard this, but you guys didn't touch on it. Thanks
Yeah…almost Bose will have some and if it’s your first time using it, it will take a bit to adjust to. After you get used to it, the NC is great
The Sony controls are amazing. Make sense you don't have to think/remember... Just swipe and vuala
XM5’s the win!!😊
I owed both and the Bose definitely win. The Sony's are too quiet at high volumes even after the software update. I have to download an equaliser online and the Sony still couldn't perform.
something i wish i knew before buying the bose. it doesnt ssay the name of who's calling, it just rattles off a number.
Hey! You took my DHRME expansion. Thanks😀😁
You bet!
Hi guys. You are doing wonderful job. Is this test using latest firmware of sony ?
Yep!
I just love yours reviews !
Glad you like them!
your reviews are top notch..well done....the soundcore Q45 are on sale here for 130 ( canadian ) 95 ( USD )would you get these over the sennheiser HD 450BT same price as the soundcore or the Edifier WH950NB for 179 ( canadian ) 130 ( USD ) ? All i want the headphones for is watching movies / utube / listening to music so sound is very important...i am not concerned with how good the noise cancellation is or the phone calls either....out of those 3 that i listed which would you recommend for my needs..... or is there one not listed which might work better ?....thx a bunch...cheers from Canada
I actually liked the Soundcore as much as the MX5...gave them to my wife and got the new Bose Quiet Comforts!
Great review. Do you review aful magic one iem?
Loved this review. really helped me out now that i'm looking into headphones. Great Job!
out of curiosity, what did you choose between the 2 if you don't mind me asking
@@vh1nom Went with the QC ultras and loved them. Daily drive them with no issues. Hope this helps!
I picked the QC Ultra since I travel and I like the compact design and ANC while flying.
Cheers David! Enjoy the Ultra life 😉
Bose could have done better: Better battery, better mic and price is too much, I went for Sennheiser momentum 4 which is in my mind the best value !
I have momentum 4 too. Best decision yet. Also is it good idea to buy eabuds? Like for ANC?
@@SideEffects297 from the same brand ?
I liked the bose alot - sadly i got a shitton of connection issues... they wont connect automatically to my pixel 8 pro and want to do the full setup everytime... also power off option after x minutes never worked
I have iPhone and they take like 10 seconds to even turn on and connect each time and sometimes they don’t even reset and I have to reset my phone
No problem with my little Samsung A14 5G.
How much better are these than soundcores space Q45’s?
I can just imagine mustard oil infused headphones now
Great and hilarious review.
Bought the bose for long flights, just landed after 22 hours of flying and wearing the bose is s game changer
That's a long flight!
Where’d you go, Japan?
@@thinkhardly how the headphone is holding up for you? Ordered one today and just wanted to know your thoughts
Great video guys, thx
sony mx5 look huge on my head but I like touch. The qc ultra look better, better anc and sound but the pause button does not work and so going to get another pair. If they still don't work what should I do?
So who won over all ? The mx5 or the Bose qc ultra ??
Sony Sennheiser and Bose are producing some quality headphones lately, its a hard choice.
I think i may take a break from the norm and get me those Bose Ultras.
Superb upload lads, love from Dublin. 👏🏻👊🏼🇮🇪👊🏼
Can we turn off the ANC in Bose QC?
Hey! I am getting Sony XM5s for around 300 dollars and XM4s for 228 dollars. Should I go with the XM5s or save the money and get XM4s? Money isn't really a problem , just want to know if the 5s would be better.
XM5s are definitely better. 👍
Hello can you make a review of the latest firmware for the Sony wh-1000xm5 2.1.0 anc improved in this version
I got the XM5 in midnight blue for $260
DHRME - "Discover the Hidden Realities of Music and Equipment"
You had me at mustard oil 😂
Love my XM5 sound but the headband is agony after 1h. I need ro return them, genuinely sad.
Does the blue color not get oil?
which phones are supported for the best quality by bose
