I thought do I need to watch a video about holding my pencil. I thought I will watch a few minutes. Half an hour later I was so emersed into this lesson. A must watch even if you are experienced. I like these short videos where it demonstrates a small portion of the drawing. The dog at the end of the video from start to finish shows how fast the development can be by holding your pencil correctly. I got so much out of this, thank you for putting this up a superb lesson.
brilliant - glad you liked it
Totally agree
Very informative ❤❤❤
Found you Jason! Thank you. Beautiful work and content. 🎉❤

You're welcome!
As always a no nonsense tutorial no B.S. many thanks I'm sure from many of us who are eager to learn.😊
glad you liked it Anthony
awesome lesson thank you
This was very helpful and very timely. I started playing with my pastel pencils and pans for the second time last week and became very frustrated. I will give it another go using these tips. More videos like this would be wonderful. Thank you!
my pleasure
Thank you so much
Thank you so much. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated your videos. I started pastels after watercolour just because I love the velvety texture and my aim is to paint my 2 Persian Chinchilla cats. How lucky I am to find you. I've just bought a pure set of pan pastels and a full set of Derwent pastels and a block of Pastelmat but still didn't know how to start. I always get obsessed by materials so much which cost me a lot like should I buy Schmincke or Sennelier soft pastels since many artists recommend them. I've got many answers to my question from your videos. I am going to be one of your fans also in Patreon.🙂
My pleasure
I absolutely enjoyed this lesson.
Thank you😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
I stopped doing pastels for a while because I became frustrated. This however has rejuvenated my interest lessons with fantastic thank you Jason

Thank you, I've got new enthusiasm 🤩
You’re welcome 😊
This was awesome! I may be an artist for many years but I can always learn or reinforce some tidbit from your videos, Jason! Thanks so much! I really love your channel here on youtube, and love being a member of your Patreon channel as well! Aditionally-I discovered WHY my first attempts with pan pastels did not work well, and I had sponges that got ruined almost immediatly-because of being heavy handed. Now, I have corrected this by now, but it always helps to know I am going in the right direction with my thoughts and actions!
glad to be of help :)
Wonderful! More Jason! Thank you so much!!!
More to come!
Thank you very much for this video :)
This lesson was fabulous!!
my pleasure
So helpful. I had stepped away from my pastels for a few months to do some watercolor work but have a commissioned piece for Christmas and this was very nice to watch the technique and get me excited to get started. Thank you!!
Thank you so much 🎉 I have new pastels in all three types to break into my drawing and coloring experience coming from watercolor. I've been trying different techniques and papers 🎉🎉🎉 it's truly a wonderful medium. I also love the sticks wet 🎉
my pleasure
Very good video Jason. You make it look so easy. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
Wonderful lesson thanks so much. Have found pastelmat blending tricky so will give a paper stump a go!
Good luck!
Thanks so much. That was great!
You're very welcome!
I enjoyed this it was very useful 👍
I'm so glad!
Great lesson.
I did a big pastel picture recently and just blended with my fingers. I swear I sanded away my fingerprints! I’ve ordered some blending stumps 😂
I could not get in the gym because the finger print id did not pick me up lol
i am using Rembrandte soft pastels landscape selection 90 , plus soft pan pastels , then facer castell Pitt pastels , but i find the paper wont hold a mix of all of them !
How do you sharpen the pencils
I have loads of videos on TV that on UA-cam
