  • In this video, you will learn how to Use Soft Pastels Like Paint! Pan Pastels are designed in a way to be able to apply pastel to a surface with applicators much like using a brush with oil or acrylic!
🎨 This video is perfect for aspiring artists looking to expand their skills and explore new mediums. Plus, I have three full tutorials lined up this month, all featuring PanPastels, to help you dive even deeper into the world of pastel painting.
🤗 This Introductory lesson will teach you everything you need to know about PanPastels, including:
    The PanPastel color system
    How to mix colors effectively
Creating your own values Using the various applicators
    And so much more!

    📋 Pastel Surfaces:
Since Pan Pastel applicators a bit delicate (especially the small ones) I recommend sanded surfaces that are not too abrasive.
➡ Recommended: Unsanded surfaces, Colourfix by Art Spectrum (smooth), Pastelmat, or surfaces with at least a 600 grade or grit
➡ Not Recommended: UArt (but you could use UArt 60 grade), FIsher 400, Sennelier LaCarte, LuxArchival or anything too coarse
I'm excited for you to join me on this colorful journey and discover the endless possibilities with PanPastels. Let's have some fun and create beautiful art together!

One of my favorite mediums, so versatile. They work well with almost every medium and with pastel pencils for details and patterns.❤❤

I got some of these after watching a video with Les Darlow, who does magical skies with them. There is a set of all 20 pure hues called the painting set that I've been wanting. It includes black and white so you can mix all the tints and shades from there. I love how they disclose the pigments -- and only use lightfast ones -- because that seems rare in the world of pastels! Another advantage is such a thin layer is applied, you can use unsanded paper as you demonstrated. It really saves the tooth of the paper so that you can apply sticks over the top very easily. Pastelmat is a wonderful surface for them as well, so it doesn't tear up your application sponges. But Les Darlow also enjoyed using them on Mi-Tients.

@@monetcafe It's been in my cart for a WHILE! I have a few tints and shades already, great for negative painting clouds on white Pastelmat...

The colorless blender might work when trying to glaze.

There are many smaller sets and the thing is, they last for such a long time. They are so smooth. Even if you used it for backgrounds I think they turn out to be a good value.

They have a cancer warning on the package

Anything with dust can potentially cause cancer really. These are much dusty than sticks.
