Hi Mike, I love your videos. I have a quick question. Someone hit our well tile at church last Sunday. I'm wondering in your opinion if it can be repaired. I saved all of the pieces that cracked maybe we can mortar the broken pieces and parge over top of it? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. No big deal 👍🏾
Really enjoy all of your videos, Mike. About to fix up the parge on our house built in the 60s in the northeast. I want a shirt that says "just do it, don't make a big deal out of it!" I thought you might be retired but glad to see you're still getting things done! My dad retired to FL too but he won't stop helping people either haha. It's good to keep moving!
I remember you and I think was one of your neighbors doing this on a large driveway and I am planning on doing this here in north California on my small old driveway as soon as the summer gets a little bit cold. Old school will be always better. Blessings.✝
I did something similar but used a 3/8 nap 9" roller adds texture. I stained and sealed it 4 years ago still looks the same kinda of reminds me of a stucco look.
There it is Brother.... "No Big Deal" as my favorite Master Mason is fond of saying 😂 Man that was night and day and for what was asked for.... Another Perfect Job.... GOD BLESS Brother.... Ernie
Thanks, Mike. I bet you are loving Florida. I'm still in Pottstown, but I get to go on mission trips three times a year. My friends and I built a huge block wall in the Dominican back in November. They use a mortar that has small pebbles in it. It was a challenge.
Will this help with a carport and patio where overzealous power washers have permanently marred the concrete, and stains from planters? Will it hold up to foot or car traffic? I was told I need a bunch of prep and a product from Sika for resurfacing but this seems more reasonable for just a cosmetic covering.
@MikeHaduck You got it, Sir. I take all of what my father taught me in REAL Masonry to everything in life. All work is an art, and if I don't learn to enjoy it, what else is there? I love stacking rocks, but only for family. There is a number to how many rockw a man can throw in a lifetime.
Thanks again Mike. If it wasn’t for you my husband would think I was an idiot. I tried to explain what I wanted to do but unfortunately I couldn’t get my point across.
Hey Mike, My walkway on the side of my house is all pitted on top from rock salt over many years. I'm from upstate New york Albany area... What to you think is the cheapest why to repair the tops of the sidewalk.. Should I use portland and sand.. If so what mixture should I uses.. Thanks Mike I appreciate any info...
Milton rolled through and helped me to remove all of my carpet. Now I'm looking at a 40 year old slab. This slab seems to generate a very fine dust when swept and is also very stained. Would painting with Portland make it at least look better until we get new floors? What would you recommend to fill the divots left over from the tack strip removal? Thanks! I hope you made it thru the storm ok!
Hi Jeff, I wouldn't, painting with portland is a old school depression era fixes for outside concrete to keep it up before replacement, I would check with the paint stores , maybe you would want to go with something they reccomend, thanks Mike

Hello Mike, Love the videos. I live in Ontario (even colder than Pennsylvania) and have repaired spalling on my foundation and the top of my well tile. My son is going into construction and would like to know the brand of brick hammer you have, with the blue/gray handle. Thanks in advance for your response.
Can I do this on my back patio and the sidewalk around the pool or should I use a concrete paint? I want to make my whole patio and pool surround look better.
Hi Josh, I have videos "resurfacing driveways" which might help but if it's painted with regular paint you probably have to go over it with regular paint again, Mike
Hi Mike, thanks for all the great videos….I was wondering, what kind of sand do you use when mixing your cement and motor….I heard play sand is no good cause it is round….
I’m planning on painting my cement outside basement entrance with it. Can you paint it onto wood? Would it hemp/hurt it? Tom Sawyer white washed the fence with something, was it Portland?
What have you found to remove paint from a chimney that has stucco like finish. From your video it seems like the only option I have is to repaint it with a masonry paint.
Nice to see back at it now that you’re settled in Florida. I just mixed and poured a patio at my camp in Northwestern PA. I used the 1:2:2 mix you recommended for our climate up north. Do you have an email so people like me can send you pictures of our projects we did with your help? Do you miss the hills of Pennsylvania at all?
Thanks Mike for all of the great content over the years. I love your style “no nonsense”. I’ve learned a lot by watching and doing. Next project is laying up three brick columns on the porch I just poured. Ain’t no big deal, right? Enjoy Florida life and keep the videos coming! Cheers from Northwestern Pennsylvania (Crawford County).
@stevehoeksema4098 hi Steve it probably would but it's a sewer plant no use to overkill it, on my foundation repair videos I show all my techniques, I hope it helps, Mike
I have some work to do to my foundation, just small little repairs, then I think I'll try the old school portland paint mixture. Anything different you'd recommend in the mixture for a colder climate like here in Illinois? As always, thanks for the videos, Mike!!
Hi Albert, this is a cheap, old school depression era makeover, today most use paint, but it's a good think to know the old ways, adding colors don't last, thanks, Mike
@@MikeHaduck I put the stucco on in 1992 when I built the house. I used True Tone cement and mortar color mixed into the stucco. I still have boxes of the color. It is a powder that is lime proof, permanent to light, like a red clay powder and the stucco has held its color since application in 1992. I am going to try this method and use my original color mixed in to as close to the original shade as I can get. My original stucco was also a blend or Portland and Mortar. I am doing this cement/mortar paint to fill in some of the very small cracks that have developed over the years to help prevent accumulation of too much water and the freeze cycles here in Northern Michigan where temperatures get below 0°F. I'm 76 and have worked building, cement work and block laying off and on for 60 years, not as a vocation but because I liked to. Thanks for your channel.

I just painted my sidewalk with portland yesterday. I don't think I added enough water to it. It went on too thick, and you can see brush marks. I guess you live and learn. I'll know better next time.
