ABOUT CIVILIZATION VI
Civilization VI offers new ways to interact with your world, expand your empire across the map, advance your culture, and compete against history’s greatest leaders to build a civilization that will stand the test of time.
ABOUT CIVILIZATION
Originally created by legendary game designer Sid Meier, Civilization is a turn-based strategy game in which you attempt to build an empire to stand the test of time. Become Ruler of the World by establishing and leading a civilization from the Stone Age to the Information Age. Wage war, conduct diplomacy, advance your culture, and go head-to-head with history’s greatest leaders as you attempt to build the greatest civilization the world has ever known.
Sad to see so many people saying, "never heard of this Civ, what's the point?"
If you only research what you already know, then what's the point? I've had a pretty interesting time reading up on the history of Sumer, Scythia and Kongo, for example, which Civ 6 spurred me into doing.
It probably has something to do with how her entire wiki page is 1 1/2 pages long lmao
@@AlexAlex-hs2sp Tomyris became known as a folk hero in the western tradition thanks to the work of greek historians (ex: Herodotus) who were impressed with her succesful war on Persia even though she was a "barbarian bitch". So she's a little mythical, just like Gilgamesh of Sumer, who is mostly known through the literary "Epic of Gilgamesh". Still, Sumer and Scythia were factual historical kingdoms, with factual archeological sites. The problem is that they didn't have "historians" and archives like the greeks did: sumerians were older and too busy inventing cuneiform writing (the first writing) for commercial purposes and scythians were murderous raiders, they didn't write at all.
@@AlexAlex-hs2sp Still cool to have another murderous raider civ to rival the good ol' Genghis, imo.
@@ardenorcrush649 do u have any recommendations to read on scythians
i know it is quite off topic but does anybody know a good place to stream new series online ?
You get 2 units for the cost of 1? Scythia might be the first civ I play in 6 :D
just light cavalry though! so no Heavy Chariots or Knights either
Do we know if Light Cavalry is a specific unit, or a unit type yet?
Patrich Urso it appears to be a unit type, as it is the counter part to heavy cavalry (Chariots and Knights are HC as far as i know).
TheHomecastle Do we have any confirmation by that? I'd be surprised if they split it up form Civ 5 like that.
+Patrich Urso no conformation...
I can honestly say I never expected this Civ. Kudos to Firaxis for making it and let's hope for more in the future.
*Declares war* *two turns later 500 horsemen show up* "shiiiiiiiiiit"
just build a pikeman
Lots of pikemen. No, more than that. Build pikemen until you have "an unreasonable amount of pikemen". Then. Keep. Building.
+SeanGomes
We require more pikemen.
SeanGomes It's still spearmen against her special unit and she's got at least 2 ponies for every spearman.
I heard ponies?
ill say one thing, she has the best look so far
I 100% agree with you
ikr
doesnt even feel cartoonish, just straight up awesome and detailed
love it
She looks IMO exactly as a character from How To Train Your Dragon
agree
Thanks for the kind words!
"Doesn't require a horse resource to construct"
It's a fucking horseback rider...
LOGIC
Guess they give birth to horses sometimes...
Probably for balance mainly so you don't get stuck without a horse resource and not be able to build the unit that kind of makes the whole civ, though you could rationalise it by saying that they're so adept with horses that they just source them from everywhere and breed them themselves.
This guy
I think that's 'inspired' by the fact Scythians were the first horsemen and nomadic empire of history, and also to enable them full power early rushes.
Still, that feels weird... But civ5 had few similar absurd units not requiring resources.
Tomyris to Cyrus be like "The steppe is where you stoppe"
If you look at Teddy Roosevelt (1:18) you can tell they changed his model since the first trailer. Thank god, he looked like he was stung by 100 bees.
someone get on that 100 bees mod
NOT THE BEES! (sorry)
i think they just noticed that he was a lot more cartoony than the other leaders.
or maybe all of the leaders were going to be cartoony like him but then they decided against it at the last second
LMAO!! good observation and too true..!
Back when Scythia was leaked in a puzzle (one month ago) among civ6 nations I was unpleasantly surprised, I thought they were "some wild tribe on Ukraine"
Then I educated myself and Scythia is BRILLIANT choice.
1) A great culture with a millenium of history
2) Spanning from modern Ucraine to Tajikistan
3) Probably first horsemen of history
4) First nomadic Central Asian power in history
5) Noted by numerous outside cultures (Greeks, Romans etc)
6) Resisting aforementioned empires and Persia
7) With Tomyris, badass queen who defended Scythia from Persian Empire (world's superpower of her era)
GO SCYTHIA
They were also cultural forebears of the Huns, Turks and Mongols
OPMDBZROK Scythians are also eastern Iranian people so what’s your point? The messagetae were a tribe in the Scythian kingdom. They all spoke an Iranian language and practiced the old Iranian religions.
@@alikuzyaka2152 I didn't know the Huns, Turks, and Mongols were Iranian!
@@wildfire9280 Scythians are central asian and their culture of steppe has a lot of similarity with huns mongols and turkic tribes.
Infinite_Days nope Masagets were on kazakh uzbek lands, Iranian scythians are different. Tomyris came from different part of the kingdom.
She is gonna be one hell of a first city neighbor... And probably my first with my luck.
Let's hope not! And if you do...try not to make her mad.
"Queen Tomyris was one of the greatest queens of antiquity. Although we know little about her..."
-_-
She didn't even kill Cyrus he died in his sleep...
We don't actually know exactly how he died. Some claim Tomyris killed him in battle, some claim he died in his sleep,
Think 2k are pushing here. Her main feature for choosing her seems to be that....she is a woman...
I wonder what the male/female ration for leaders will be at launch. 50/50%?
Do you just know jackshit about the Scythians (Which is okay to admit.)? Even if she didn't kill him directly, she still fought (and won) a war against the conquerer of Persia.
The main reason is that she is a woman AND poc! Double the D I V E R S I T Y™!
"Her armies get a bonus when they attack wounded units, and heal a little when they defeat an enemy."
"The Saka Horse Archer is highly mobile, and it doesn’t require Horse resources to construct."
Please tell me that there’s a mod where her units are reskinned as vampires and their horses are reskinned as robots.
I *NEED* this
Sanguine Pact
"Behold! My army of mounted units!"
"How do you have so many horses?! You don't even own horses in your Civ!"
"I made them. Somehow. With science"
"We ride our captured enemies into battle". 🤪
@@SimonAshworthWood that emoji caught me off-guard
She looks great. I'm loving the art style of the leaders so far!
Agreed!
+MorganWight love the picture Lawrence of Arabia is my favorite movie
Thanks for the kind words, Jack!
I think I liked civ 5 style more I like realistic characters and I liked when they clothes changed
Yay! The ideas and innovations in Civ 6 continue to surprise me and it's a good thing! I'm happy that some civs and leaders who don't usually enjoy the spotlight get some love in Civ
We're glad you think so! We're pretty happy with how Scythia is shaping up :)
+Sid Meier's Civilization can I ask you, do Poland will show up in the base game of civ 6.
Yes, Poland has been confirmed to be in a game a while ago. Their leader is Jadwiga.
+ArbyCSGO that was good
Alan Scott where is just one problem, I never heard of her. I'm just kind of disappinted because where are so many better monarchs of poland so why they had chose her?
Curious! Never even heard of the Sythians, I have some Wikipedia surfing to get on with.
I thought they were 'some wild tribe', I read about them, I think Scythia is absolutely brilliant choice. Great and important culture.
+van der Heist The simple fact that most people have never of heard of them should just automatically bar them from being in a civ game.
That's pretty interesting logic. So are you saying only popular, victorious civilisations should be represented?
+IMNOTAMUSED1 I think the opposite is true. Civ, as a franchise, has been responsible for igniting the spark of curiosity about history and civilizations. Regurgitating the same civs, leaders and wonders teaches nothing, it merely panders to the close-minded and the uneducated. Fortunately all the decisions that the Civ team has revealed so far is a strong indication that the team wants to keep things fresh and interesting, and explore new historical landscapes and themes.
SeanGomes Fuckin' thank you.
Hates surprise declarations of war, as opposed to all those leaders that like them
She hates them more, presumably. Maybe there are some who'll congratulate you for your deviousness if you surprise someone.
It means she hates surprise declarations on other people. In the video it shows you declaring war on Teddy then she declares war on you because of it. For comparison, Teddy hates local wars (on same continent) regardless if they're surprise or not but doesn't care about foreign wars. Having her nearby is a protection from a sudden attack if you're playing more peaceful but if you're playing military you might want to attack her first. If she's far away and you declare surprise wars, you could still expect her to declare war on you, which might mess up trade and relations on the other continent.
Oh how this comment aged
This is interesting choice. One of the ancient civilisations
Glad you think so!
Well...not really anything out of the ordinary, given that Civ 5 does have the Roman and Persian empires, two very powerful empires in the classical era.
I think he meant a relatively unknown one, unlike the persians or the romans
Holy cow Ted lost weight
I think you're confusing Teddy with Taft
+iwanttoseemrshow Nah, Teddy's old model was pretty fat, but everyone complained, so they changed it.
I thought he was saying Tomyris looks like a skinny Ted Cruz
King Zavis A lot of people confuse Teddy with Taft.
He's gotten super into Pilottis recently.
I though that languages should be a thing that worked a little like religion and you could use great writers to spread it to other nations and having the same language as another civ helps in diplomacy and increases trade bonuses from alliances.
that's ingenious!
Yeah. that would be cool. A pain to pull off though, making so many transliterations.
Please make Phoenicia a civilization, not Carthage! Make Carthage the second or third city of Phoenicia and make either Hamilcar or Hannibal the leader. Preferably Hamilcar because he's never been in a Civ game.
Phoenicia should definitely be a Civilization. They had a very important legacy and have never really been in the civilization game series (Carthage doesn't really count). They invented glass, the bireme, trireme, quinquereme, the Alphabet, apartment buildings, had the first stadium before Olympia (search Stadium of Amrit), early form of democracy before Athens, etc. etc.!
That would be interesting because although neither ever actually ruled carthage or phoenicia, they effectively ruled the iberian colonies and were undeniably some of the most influential people in Phoenicia's history.
Although they never actually ruled the civilization its not anything new for that to happen. I mean Gandhi leads India so lol
Or give them an ability that buffs the hell out of their first city built on a different continent (representing Carthage), to the degree that it can kinda function as a second capital. Then you can draw the leader, leader ability, unit, infrastructure and agenda from both Carthaginian and Phoenician history. Call it the Punic civilisation for game purposes.
oisin allen I like that idea a lot. However, Phoenicia had colonies on North Africa and Spain centuries before Carthage. Two examples are Utica on North Africa and Gadir (Gades/Cadiz) on Spain. Carthage just only became the most powerful of Phoenician colonies.
Further, while the Romans called the Phoenicians from the West, Punic, the Greeks still called both Eastern and Western Phoenicians as Phoenicians.
The Latin word Punic has become a derogatory word to refer to sneaky, cruel people. Further, Punic was initially just a Roman transliteration of the Greek word Phoenician. They're both essentially the same. Punics and Phoenicians are the same people.
So I believe they should still call the civilization Phoenicia or, better yet, Canaan.
This civ seems way too OP.
horseman can easily get defeated by pikemen
+Tanks Explosions Anime (T.E.A) no pikemen in the ancient era
I guess spearmen then?
Every civ in Civ 6 looks OP, so I guess it adds balance
Every civ in this game seems overpowered compared to those of Civilization V. What this means is that each civ will feel very unique from one another.
It should be noted that their ability to double horse unit production is only in the early game, so she will likely be very underpowered later on when other civs' unique abilities come into play.
Germany - Barbarossa
Poland - Jadwiga
Russia - Peter
Greece - Pericles
Rome - Trajan
India - Nukey McNukeface
Arabia - Saladin
Kongo - Afonso
Spain - Isabella and Phillip
Where did you get that, out of curiosity?
+Air Nomads In a developer video, you could see portraits in the background, showing all of these leaders. All the leaders confirmed so far were on the wall, so it's safe to assume the rest of them are confirmed too.
But I call shenanigans. A Civ game without the Mongols and Zulus is not a civ game at all.
+Air Nomads He's from the future.
Luke Beall I agree, though I can see them being in the pre-order bonus. That, or late DLC with more of the African and European empires.
Yeah, I just found it on this article written by a guy who had looked at those portraits. I thought it was fake until Tomyris showed up today (she was in the article).
I think it's time for Rome. You should have the Roman mall be a special district which improves amenities, decreases housing, but also brings in more income from trade routes. Also, Nero should be the leader, and he should have the ability to destroy his own districts in a great fire to make way for new districts.
Caesar I imagine but Augustus the first emperor might be cool or mark Antony hopefully their is something about them being either a republic or an empire.
Trajan has been leaked to be the Roman leader
Marcus Aurelius would be cool. He could play a vary balanced game, providing small boosts to everything from war to culture to science. Also, Theodosius would be a solid choice for making a religious version of Rome. Or they could do something completely different and go with Romulus Augustulus (the last Emperor of Rome), though I'm not entirely sure what they could do with him. As far as diplomacy goes, I guess they could give a "Kill lots of Barbarians" agenda. I don't know, there really isn't a bad choice when it comes to Rome.
ScienceMe No you fool it will be Julia Augusta the feminists demand it!
first of all,we don't know if there will be rome, but i hope there will sure
No Rome of Trajan's death date?
I am with you we need the Rome first look!
yea
There are no patterns. All predictions have failed. Firaxis shows whatever the hell they want and whenever the hell they want.
^On civ fanatics, there were polls for last three weeks 'what civ do you think will be shown' - each time every civ voted in those by any significant amount of people was not shown. I'm almost suspecting Firaxis to troll us and deliberately checking those polls to show other civs - just to constantly surprise us.
+van der Heist There has always been a video on Tuesday at the same time, sometimes a Bonus video on Thursday or Friday :D you just don't know which CIV they reveal.
"Powerful warmongers in the Ancient and Classical Era's"
With two units for the price of one, plus since they heal after every kill, they're going to be a nightmare until at LEAST the Renaissance era 0.0
Yay! :D
I have strange feeling that Scythia will be new Russia - but I dont understand why. Scythian tribes were nomad tribes living before massive wave of emigration on territory of now-day Western Russia and Ukraina but they had nothing in common with Slavic tribes and how their capital is Pokrovka - which is totally Slavic name. If that hybrid of cultures will be on the place of Russia I personally will be very disappointed ;( By the way Pokrovka is just excavation place named by nearest village which was founded in 1891. It is outrageous to create such historical absurd I think.
No worries, mate. According to leaked info, there be Russia with Peter the great
Scythians werent slavic tho?
Yes, they were not. They had completely different cultures, languages and way to live.
Чешир Кот
Not to mention they were an Iranian group hehe. That said I really wonder what happened to them.
There is many Iranian groups as many as Altai and have many differences in many planes. Scythian tribes were blown away by Great migration and completely stop to exist as separate tribes in III cent. conquered or exterminated by Goths. Proto-slavs (before their separation) settle land on NW from Scythians (somethere near nowday Poland, Belarus and Baltic States). During same Great Migration they was press by nomads and settle land of NW Russia, Ukraine and Balcans. But that is not so important. They were totally not a from slavic language group. Names like Atey, Idanfirs, Skopas, Taksakis, Ishkuz,Skilur and etc. are definitely not slavic. And as I mentioned before Pokrovka is a village near which big scythian kurgan was found and examined by archeologists, not the name of some scythian city. Definitely!
civ6 features look exactly the same like civ5 with phone freemium graphics, is there any point in playing this over 5?
it already has more content than civ 5.
you play civ for the graphics?
are u kidding me, civ 3 graphics are on Crysis lvl bro this is such a downgrade totally serious
iptf You stupid? Oh ok you might be stupid so I will lay it out. I was asking are new graphics worth a full retail price when so far civ6 didn't show any distinctive features so you can play civ5 and get the same experience in shittier graphics which I don't mind.

Um, a horse unit that doesn't require a horse resource?!?! Makes no sense to me!
They had a unique horse unit that didn't need horses in Civ V, and a unique swordsman that didn't need iron.
Just go with it, nothing's changed from the last game.
you have to remember that units is an early age unit .what`s the point of having a special unit if you can`t use it, because by the time you find horse you may end up together.
Steppe people provide their own horses ;)
It's to ensure they can be massed up early regardless of access to resources, which is intended to be Scythia's playstyle.
scythian have noting to do whit turks they was iranic
Brittanica
Scythian, also called Scyth, Saka, and Sacae, member of a nomadic people, originally of Iranian stock, known from as early as the 9th century BCE who migrated westward from Central Asia to southern Russia and Ukraine in the 8th and 7th centuries BCE. The Scythians founded a rich, powerful empire centred on what is now Crimea. The empire survived for several centuries before succumbing to the Sarmatians during the period from the 4th century BCE to the 2nd century CE.

Lol this bitch killed all da Persians in her sight
Brian Hall Yeah we'll see who kills who. :D
Actually she killed Cyrus the great in battle, but later on they became vassals of the PErsians.
She may or may not have killed Cyrus. There are conflicting accounts. Some accounts say Cyrus died fighting a different tribe, and others say Cyrus died peacefully in his sleep.
The specifi tribe of scythians that, lets say allegedly, killed Cyrus the Great was infact The Massagetae.
I'm probably creating Tom Brady as a modded character. You can farm goats as a unique resource and stadiums are replaced with Gillette Stadium. Also instead of a Warrior, you can train Gronks.
Interesting early advantage with those horse archers; I could see Scythia being OPed militarily simply by virtue of not requiring the resource (Horses) and getting two units for each one you build. Maybe this is counter-balanced by all of their advantages being skewed toward the early stages of the game, but one has to wonder if this being designed around "personalities" isn't going to make this game unbalanced, at least in the early stages after release.
I ship her and Genghis Khan
I hoarse them
Is she taking Genghis place as aggressive horse person?
Iranian vs Iranian
Why turks said she is turk? Lol
Native pashto speaker here! proud to say i speak a Scythian based language!
Does not require horse resources to build a cavalery unit? Are their horses just two guys wearing a horse costume?
Wow, they're taking some pretty good risks with obscure civilizations. I like it.
Scythians were anything but obscure. They were a powerhouse. What is obsucre is this queen, she may not even be real, but nvm.
@@Finwaell she was quite real, at least its what they taught me in school in Kazakhstan
It's weird to see turks in game as Scythians, not ottomans or Seljuk empire but it's a great thing that civilization VI makes the game fresh by not putting the same civs every game
Why do you people think that every nomadic civilization are Turks? The Scythians were Iranians.
I think it's in herently negative if they don't manage to get every pic from Civ V in one way or another but it is nice to have fresh faces.
Now that's something new, I'm positively surprised :)
Looks great fantastic to see some original civs in the game hope there are more to come

Alans are sick
Alans are Sarmatian not Scythian. Massagetae are totally separate tribe from Alans and several hundred years apart. Both are Iranic but that's about it.
Can we get different cultural looks to buildings (monument, granary etc) as well?? That tall shiny monument in a tribal city looks weird.
an ancient aryan faction, nice
Firaxis if you're going to put Sweden in an expansion pack then I'd gladly suggest some rulers in chronological order:
Christina of Sweden - Minerva of the North as she was called, was the first monarch of the Swedish Empire. Strong character (Tomboy, fond of philosophy, religion, alchemy, mathmatics etc... basically one of the most educated women of the 17th century) and interesting person overall.
Charles X Gustav - I jokingly call him "the first Swedish meatball" because of his short height (1.55m/5 feet) and great waist measurement (his last ordered kilt-looking skirt or whatever it's called had a circumference of 136 cm/55.5 inches but it was said to be even greater than that...). Before elected as a king by Christina he was a total dandy but after he was sent to Germany to fight in the 30-years war he had developed three passions; Women, food and wars.
Charles XII - Krigarkonungen, the Warring King sat on the throne when he was fifteen. Jk, the royal castle burnt down and a very powerful coalition led by Russia has declared war on all fronts... the teen Charles XII left the capital of Sweden to fight in the Great Northern War for 18 years until he got shot while besieging a norwegian castle - arguably by one of his own.
There, those are my candidates :)
Wish you had done Cyrus the Great instead.
We don't know who Persia's leader is yet. I hope it's Cyrus.
thats not scythia...
My fear is that Scythia is going to replace Persia.
+Matthew Beazley dont think it will. they were in different geographical areas so they wont leave the iranian region barren
Let's hope so.
Wouldn't have been more accurate to have Massagetae be the civilization. Tamyris wasn't queen of all of the Sythian tribes, so it's kind of misrepresenting the Sythian culture as being ruled by her... that being said I do love the inclusion of lesser known groups of people and Tamyris especially, I hope there's more to come.
give us Gustav II Adolf pleaaaase
"Who hates surprise declarations of war" Is she gonna be surprised if I declare war after she attacked my city state allies, settle next to my capital and proposed to embargo me? What if I attack her trying to recover a city she took over, will she be surprised by that?

Another queen for me to court. Oddly enough another that seems bloodthirsty, but beautiful nonetheless.
I am loving this civ so much :D :D
Why does people get mad about the genitals of the person leading the civilization?
Obviously they want rule 34 images pairing all of the leaders together, but not some boring straight relationships. Talking about some hot Attila the Hun on Louis XIV action, baby.
Oh please, Louis XIV is so not Kawaii. It's all about Attila and Hojo.
***** Women are not allowed to be leaders in most countries back in the day, it's even forbidden like in France and China.
There are some exception. And are you complaining on the lack of realism?
The Scythian "Kurgan" can only be destroyed by Scotland's unique unit, the Highlander. 😉
The fuck? I hope we still get Mongolia, but this is pretty neat.
The fact that the stone thingy made it to the list also seems to indicate Mongolia might be stripped (it's also mongolian thing) but we'll hopefully get it.
Ghenghis Khan is a Great General in this game alongside Boudicca, so I'm sure about Celt and Mongolia's chance of being in the DLC.
I think Mongols will still be in with Kulbai Khan leading them, but I may be wrong
In Central Asia, her name is pronoucned 'To-myreese"
If you don't add Hannibal as the leader of Carthage, i'm just saying.. there will be riots!
I would like to see Ukraine or Lithuania, or some eastern Europeans other than russia, also scythians held the current area that is ukraine
There's almost 100% chance that Poland will be in the game but it would be great to see, for example, Cossacks in Civ 6 as well.
+Woolfix1 non russian cossacks
Lithuania had quite a history (in medieval times), though it seems to be ditched (due to Vilnius being a city-state) anyway. Ukraine as an separate civilisation is a way too young to consider. Same thing with many modern eastern European countries - they've been long time under one or other empire or force, so you'll need to dig really-really deep to get like actual independent civilizations in there. And in most cases you'll reach in migration period times and you'll end up with someone like scythia, who were occupying quite a lot of territory of modern cultures, but were neither of them.
I've never heard of that civilization.
Seriously, there isn't even a wiki page on it in my language.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scythia
I said my language, which is Hebrew
Scythians were peoples of the Eurasian steppes living to the north of Iran and the Caspian and Black Seas. I believe the general consensus is that the Slavic peoples are descendants of the Scythians.
EDIT:
If not direct descendants, they are at least related. Common haplogroup.
In all fairness, English Wikipedia has about 5 times more articles than the next biggest ones.
Don't worry, mine (Polish) wikipedia is also much smaller than English one and doesn't cover a lot (a lot) of important topics.
Scythia was great and awesome culture (first horsemen and nomadic empire in history, ancestor of Huns Mongols etc) who settled on lands between modern Ukraine and Tajikistan (a huge area) and resisted all major powers of antiquity. It's weird how I never knew about them before civ6 leak month ago.
Correction Cyrus was wounded in a battle against the Scythian's, he later died of his injury's. As you know his grave has his body and all...
Sources vary on the exact circumstances of his death.
Leon Reddick
Yeah I heard one where he died peacefully in his capitol. Though I doubt the story where she killed him and took his body. Since he rather obviously has a tomb.
I heard that during the Battle against the Sycthians he got killed and later the Persians negotiated with the Sycthians to get his body back and they did give it back.
+Ali 021 I doubt the scythians would be that honorable.
im waiting for prince maurits for the netherlands
He wont show up
Prince Maurits? King Willy or bust.
Netherlands will not be in the game, confirmed.
but... but... WAAHHHHHHHHH >:(
they will certainly be a DLC civ though. They have been for the last 3 Civ games or so.
My kind of girl. Proud, fierce, warrior spirit, amazing hair and loves horses. Had a gf with these qualities once..
Okay this is cool and all I guess but there's some very important civilizations that I think should've gotten priority over these guys: Portugal, Spain, Rome, Austria, the Holy Roman Empire, Russia, Arabia, the Inca, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark-Norway, Sweden, the Ottomans, Ethiopia, the Zulu, the Xhosa, India, the Mughal Empire, Mexico, the Mongols, the Huns, the Kongo Empire, heck even Liechtenstein.
And POLAND ! If there will not be ...i dont buy it .....
What do you mean, priority? "Oh crap, we created Scythia first, now wo don't have enough space on the disc for Russia"? :p
Oh just you wait, the DLC shall come. Oh it shall come
Poland is confirmed to be in the game. Their leader is Jadwiga. Russia, Rome, Greece, India are also in the game.
+Alan Scott This is pathetic. Jadwiga? Seriously? She founded some rooms for students, a few hospitals and retrieved some land. Then she died. And they replace Casimir III with that?
I'm so excited for this game 😍
Show us Arabia please!
just wondering....why try to motivate the Civ 6 leader chooses when clearly they do not really have a solid system.
i watch the dev video on your channel "we have chosen our leaders this time in order to come up with the people who are the biggest personalities" so....why did you chose Tamaris if you know so little about her?
is the motivation of substance not good enough?
many leader chooses you have relieved are Great and or a improvement form past leaders but others debatable but its your game, and so far nothing has really made a real reason fore a outcry.
Don't worry Peter the Great is leading Russia this time and he was well known for being very rough and improper unlike a king of the time.
TheDeathby2 well...the only once i feel are..."bad" is Victoria(because Elisabeth and Gorge V was a bit better in my opinion as important figure) Medici, and Cleo(she is really represented in the way that she was).
Hojo might be less impressive them other possible leaders but way more representative them Obenaga.(even if most of the west would like or respect his understanding of tactic and strategy that japan at that time wanted to suppress)
Roosevelt and the rest are good if not better picks them previous games.
This is what they said:
Tomyris assumed leadership of her group of nomadic pastoral tribes in 530 BC upon the death of her husband, the current chieftain. Her exploits were mentioned in the works of several great ancient writers such as Herodotus, Strabo, Polyaenus, Cassiodorus and Jordanes.
The most notable story about Tomyris involves the Persian ruler Cyrus the Great and his efforts to invade and subjugate Tomyris’ people. Cyrus and his troops planted an unattended camp with a healthy supply of wine in Scythian territory. The Scythian army, led by Tomyris’ son, stumbled upon the wine and, unfamiliar with the intoxicating effects of alcohol, drank themselves into a stupor. After, the Persians attacked the incapacitated army and kidnapped Tomyris’ son.
Tomyris, enraged, challenged Cyrus and another battle ensued; however, this time Cyrus and his forces were defeated, suffering a great many casualties including Cyrus himself. After the death of Cyrus, Tomyris had his corpse beheaded and crucified, and shoved his head into a wineskin filled with human blood. During this act, Tomyris is quoted as saying, “I warned you that I would quench your thirst for blood, and so I shall.”
A lot of history is conjecture.
I would love to see her as a heroic spirit in Fate.
Niceee she is a turkish legendary leader add shan yu also from mulan movie(kürşad) another old turkish leader legend.
Just because your mom is one doesn't means other peoples moms are the same even if she was one she would be jobless, you persians would out-compete everybody for that matter thats your national sport i give you gold medal on that, and didnt internet banned yet in your shithole country yet?
Scythian’s were Iranic not Turkic.
@@Alakhana What do you mean by Scythian ,western royal sychtians greeks encauntered maybe..massagateans ..saka?they have turkish elements..Sychtians are such a diverse people from eastern europe to northern china they are not homogenous..they were a confederation of different nomads.
@@YY-ug9mv Turkic nomads didn’t live in most of the modern Stan countries. The Scythian’s were diverse genetically, true however most Scythian groups like the Saka,Yuezhi,Sogdians,Alan’s,Massagatae ect were Eastern Iranic.
Hungarian folk is the most ancient folk in the world. Scythian = sumerian = parthian = celtic = etruscan = kushitan = hungarian. Jesus and Maria are scythian (notedly parthian) people.
No one expected that, didn't you?
No! I love ancient history and I was trying to find civilizations that they could add, and scythia completely skipped my mind!
Around a month ago there was a 'leak' (well not a leak, almost certainly a deliberate puzzle from Firaxis) where they show us 'accidentally' all civs and leaders on a very bad quality photo, since then 90% of this image was deciphered and Scythia-Tomyris was known to be here. Now it is just confirmed.
I also didn't expect Scythia but upon reading about it on English wiki - it is amazing civ deserving to be here.
van der Heist who's been deciphered so far?

tl;dr, 12-13 "necessary" civs and: Arabia, Spain, Brazil :p , Poland, Sumer, Scythia, Kongo and two unknown
This is like the horse archers for the Huns. But great new CIV. Keep it coming!
I swear to god if they don't put persia
Persia won't be in the base game, confirmed.
+Alan Scott nooooo!!! Can u give link please?
Pendar Pak khoo They have a picture of the leader portraits, Persia won't be in the game. I could list you the leaders in the game if you want.
+Alan Scott I have seen the picture, but there was one where it was blurry and people thought it was Persia or the ottomans so I was hoping
+Pendar Pak khoo
neither.
Neither Persians nor Ottomans wore Börk (a steppe cap which was worn by Mongols Turkmens and Huns)
it is probably a mongol civ
>Horse Archer
>Does not require Horses to construct
Tell me how that works again?
The Great Turk!Tomris Hatun!
Ahahaha.Calm down racists calm down.
David Baum Yes butthurt, 11 Ottoman Sultans had Greek mothers and they were totally mixed with balkans, georgians, gypsies etc etc.
+Ali 021
Well stupid idiot not that I like Ottomans that much but marriages between different dynasties in order to strengthen the throne claims was A THING in feudal and Renaissance Europe well actually in whole world.
The most important thing is the culture that raised you.
Sure Timur came from the Barlas Tribe but it wasnt the same Barlas tribe anymore it was in Transoxiana and it was heavily Turkified. Timur himself said he was a Turk when he was queralling with Bayezid 2 over "who should rule Anatolia" before the battle of Ankara and the whole Anatolia supported Timur only Serbian Knights and ex balkan Janissares was in Bayezids army.
Plus you are a racist for looking peoples ethnic origin instead of the culture they were raised in.
Faramith dude they are Kurd,Greek and British :D.You cant tell them.
+Faramith Grey

That feeling when the name of your civilization's capital pronounces and writes just the same as the most common name of villages in Russia and Ukraine.
It sounds really funny for Russians (and, perhaps, for some other Slavic nations) 'cause there are no cities and no towns named Pokrovka, but in every region of Russia there are several small villages named this way and most of people in Russia have relatives who leave in Pokrovka and do not know they live in the Scythian capital.
I understand why this name was chosen - scythians lived in South Russia and South Ukraine and probably some archeological stuff about them was found near one of Pokrovka villages. But this name is absolutely one hundred percent Slavic and doesn't even distantly represents Scythian culture.
That is why the name is horrible. Scythians didn't even know who the hell are slavics. Maybe some greek toponyms would be better for this civ, 'cause scythians and crimean greeks had a lot of influence on each other.
I also think that Pokrovka doesn't sound seriously. There were no scythian cities, so devs should introduce us unique "steppe horde" type of civs that do not build cities :)
It probably bcuz there is no info about their cities. Places like Pokrovka or Issyk are really locations where their burial cites or other artifacts were found
@@balislamseidazov8707 yeah, I know I'm a history major from Russia, so it's obvious to me. It's a bit cringy though. They could've find another similar civilization which ended up having known cities (so, the other cringy one is Sumeria, because we know about their possible language only from Akkadian sources and even Sumer is an Akkadian word -- at least that's what we were told at university).
Without context the names of those archaeological sites are strange. E.g. issyk means 'warm' in many Turkic languages, as far as I know. So, you'll find plenty of rivers, lakes and valleys called Issyk all over Eurasia. If you google Issyk in Russian, you'll find a city in Kazakhstan (the city is not very far from a Scythian place, but it's reeeeeeeeally far from places where Greeks met Scythians), lots of hotels, resorts and so on. And if you google Pokrovka, the first 10 of the results would be about a street in the center of Moscow. Moreover, Pokrovka is a name of hundreds of Russian villages -- even historically significant ones.
@@wyacheslawkodanev2107 I think its fine that those places are far from places mentioned by other civilizations, after all they did not stick to one place for long. While places like Issyk are really the only option left to name a location and be confident that the Scythians were there. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Literally who?
I love the design an animation of these rulers. They've got so much personality.
where is Lenin or Stalin? civilization please respond and tell us why you won't choose a soviet leader for russia.
Lenin then
Stalin was a leader in Civ 4
Lenin was a leader in Civilization 2 I think and it is very unlikely they will put a Soviet leader into this game for many reasons, primarily because they picked a leader already, and it will not be a Soviet one :)
+LennyBicknel yes but they were at their peak years during the soviet union. they were stronger then ever
Stalin was a leader in Civ 4.
OMG, some people love speaking about history even if they don't know a thing. Tomris Hatun was the granddaughter of Alp Er Tunga, who was one of the leaders of Scythia (Saka in Turkish). Alp Er Tunga's very name is Turkish that means hero, brave. There is a saga about his death in Turkish. How some people can be so brave to claim ridiculous things is beyond me.
Dexter's Sheets of Plastic
Who told you that scythian were turk?
"Saka horse archers..." Greeks called Scythians,Scythians Persians called Sycthians Sakas.
yes
So they just picked Scythia because it was led by a woman
Pretty sure they just wanted to try something new, the woman thing was just a bonus. Also: your penis will not be stolen while you sleep just because somebody put a woman in a game.
Which is why they're trying to choose as many female rulers as fucking possible? Not to mention they literally say in this video "she was an amazing ruler who did much for Scythia" and then the very next line is "although not much is known about Scythian history...."
It's fucking idiotic, the amount of female rulers in this game is way out of proportion with the amount in reality throughout history. Fucking dumb.
+Natalie Hunter I don't see the big deal. I'm no feminist but it seems good that the women slightly outnumber men as they don't often have a majority of women. It won't effect any gameplay either.
I don't know why the hell everyone is so upset about female leaders. Like goddamn. Plus, if the leaks are true, there are only 2 more civs led by women, one of which is only co-ruler. I think the leader choices are really interesting and provide variety to the game. All of the leaders chosen so far have been powerful leaders too, at least as strong as the men they could have chosen instead.
+Callum Heath Why? I'm upset because apparently my country is going to be led by a tween who married and then died without doing much. They picked her instead of, say, two of the kings who ruled during our golden age. One of whom brought us the renaissance and the other united Poland and Lithuania for good.
One does not simply build horse units without horses
I think India will be the last one to First Look.
Isn't the next civ supposed to be announced today?
That's so cool! A completely new civ, with a quite unique playstyle! Love it!
mongolian empire MK2
Whilst comparing the leader of the Scythian civilization
with they egyptian leader fond of political flirtation,
I noticed a stage of eyeball alteration.
Unsaid that you want to enhance her beautification,
but "unrealistic" is a factor to my frustration!
and my personal opinion shows great admiration
to small non-cartooney eyeball configurations...
That's why I must humbly suggest modifications!
This took way longer than I hoped it would...
Xena, is that you???
I didn't have any idea about Scythia before. Thanks for increasing my knowledge, Civ!
And really liking the idea of Queen Tomyris of Scythia, definitely gonna want her in my games, as an ally, cause honor.
Lol, I hope the people complaining about Scythia's inclusion in the game were ten years old, because Scythia is pretty well known for anyone with even a passing interest in ancient history. They were the original horse-centric "horde style" army and dressed cool af.
Fingers crossed for a Belgian civ led by Albert I
It would be fun if Firaxis imagined weird and funky advancements in the industrial and modern age for civilisations that are defunct. Be creative.
Like for Scythia, we could have StealthSteeds - Invisible horses with low-flying altitude capability carrying satchels of nuclear weapons. Ahem.
This time you should go for Sassanid Persia instead of Achaemenid Persia. Perhaps Shapur The Great who captured Roman emperor, Valerian? And their special unit could be Cataphract!
Horsearchers are formidable soldiers! I would really like to have the chance to use them in other civs (besides Mongolia and Scythia). But these civs surely both trained their people from a very young age to become such skilled warriors on horseback.
