I had the pleasure of meeting Norm Lewis after seeing him in A Soldier's Play. I told him he was the greatest Phantom ever and he had this look of shock and joy on his face followed by a huge, ear-to-ear smile. My remark really meant a lot to him. But as you can see here, it's very true that he is the best
@@phanoftheopera And when they do revive it, it's likelier to be an American port of the scaled back version they're running in London, and not the older Harold Prince staging (the most noticeable change being through the orchestra being cut in half, with 14 players instead of 27).
Absolutely giggled during Point of No Return when he realizes everyone knows it’s him and just tries to like… do a little power walk towards the edge of the stage. “Whoops maybe I better get out now”
They don't do it now with the revamped West End production, but they did do it for a little bit between 2015 and 2020 - it's a lot quieter tho than Broadway
Thank you!! Norm is absolutely great, and he actually did really well for his first show! Sierra's acting and singing is really improved compared to the 25th. ❤
I saw this exact cast in 2014, and this brings back such wonderful memories. Lewis was phenomenal and I'm glad i got to see him in the role he is meant to play. And Boggess, simply, is my favorite Christine. Thank you for this.

Lewis is great but he voice cracked at the higher notes a lot. I think they should have chosen someone who could sing the notes and NOT keeping to voice rack. Many people have said that they tensed up the performance waiting to see if he would set the note.
Norm did have vocal issues with the score, perhaps in part due to the fact that he has a rich baritone voice. Most of the time Phantom’s are tenors. Similar to Timothy Nolen, who was also a baritone, and wanted parts lowered for him. That being said, this was his first show in the role. I saw him twice and his vocals were wonderful and there are audios that exist of him where he also sounds good. I think some, though not all, of his vocal issues did subside once his voice adjusted.

He’s amazing. He is definitely amazing.
Lucky are the ones who witnessed Sierra live in her run as Christine. I would have flown to NYC Just to see her.
Is it true that there won't be anymore showings of the Phantom?
The Broadway production closed on April 16th. There will be a revival eventually, but for now there’s no shows in New York right now.

Is incredible how powerfull is the Phantom's aura when a strong and deep baritone such as Norm takes the role...
IM LOSSSING IT AT HIS LITTLE DANCE HES SO PLEASED WITH HIMSELF 1:54:45

I wish they used that ‘cathedral organ’ sound when Phantom appears in the Mirror, in the London production. Sounds great!
Holy cow I put headphones on for that. I can't imagine what that would have sounded like live. Thanks for pointing that out. It was magic!

@@jesselynlee I’ve only ever heard it with the low piano note and bass…
Norm is so gorgeous and strong!
Yet delicate, gentle and fragile when it comes with Christine.
I love his deep, rich, golden voice!
Lewis has a marvellous warm voice. What a gift. Boggess is perfect.
Norm was awesome! I think my favorite part was how gleeful he was in the "order your fine horses now" :D
His little dance is adorable

Curious, who is your favorite christine?
@@geodude2476 I’m sorry. I meant to say Sierra Boggess is my favorite Christine. I don’t know why I said she is my second favorite Christine. My bad.
If I were christine i’d have said yes to staying with the phantom.

He is so great, why only tour 1 year?
He did have some vocal issues with the score so I assume besides wanting to try other roles he also didn’t want to do any damage to his voice.
@@phanoftheopera I imagine the range can be a bit taxing on baritones.

No one holds a candle to Michael Crawford!
Except Gerard Butler
His voice is fine but he doesn't seem to understand the character.
This was his first show; there is unfortunately no video of him once he settled into the role but I saw him a few times and he was wonderful.
