This MOTN is definitely in C, which I’ve heard conflicting reasons for, but Warlow is absolutely in rare form here, and this is probably the best cast he ever performed this role with. Julie is a great fit with both of her male leads!

Hold up, he did Piangi AND the Phantom in one show? That is crazy good range. But what about the scenes in the manager's office when Piangi is there but the Phantom is speaking offstage? Is that part a prerecording?

Do you have any audio of his first run in the early 1990s?

Thanks for posting. I do remember him getting sick right when that 2nd run kicked off. It was the flu or something, but he missed several dates right when it opened. I wonder if that's why the score was lowed for MOTN. I know there's one audio out there where his voice cracked hard on Down Once More. Either way, he's an incredible singer, and I'm glad he got another run at this role.

As a Czech, I personally preferred Radim with Michaela Gemrotová as Christine. Her acting is, again in my opinion, better. Vocally she's awesome and a small detail, but as she's smaller about head and a half than Radim Schwab, it's so cute when it comes to the kiss in Final Lair. 😉🥰 Also they both give the characters all their best. 😊 Thank you Marlene, for this audio. I can try to identify some words I miss to complete lyrics. 😊 I wish you all the best and many health to the 2025! 🥰

My love affair with this show has been going on for 33 years and it will most likely stay with me until the day I die. In those 33 years I have seen the show on 3 continents, in 4 countries, 11 cities and 11 stage phantoms; 3 of which I had seen multiple times totaling close to 20 performances. ‘The Final Lair’ is the pivotal moment, the last attempt for Erik to grasp my heart. Why? Because we see him at his most vulnerable state; full exposure! Josh’s portrayal was very grandes and not over the top like many I have seen on UA-cam (thank you) but in key moments that put me to tears. My favorite lines are ‘You try my patience, make your choice!’ That’s my deciding factor of how I feel about Erik! Josh was not over the top. I liked how he went to threaten Christine and than pulled back to finish saying those words. The second kiss was the trigger point for me. Why? Because Christine, with her wondering hands, reaches to touch Erik’s deformed face. He retracts and is stunned? Why? It reminds him of his mother, being shunned by humanity. He doesn’t know what to do. Unable to control his emotions he sets Raoul free and send them on their way. This was heartbreaking watching him shew them out. That was trigger point number 2. The 3rd one was when Erik lies down like a little boy interacting with the monkey. That’s the first time I’ve seen anyone do that. The hardest thing to watch was when Christine returns to give Erik the wedding ring back. He refused to take it. Christine had to put it in his hand. That was a powerful moment. Now I’m interested in seeing the rest Josh’s portrayal! ¡Bravo!
