    Nice to see these Dutch build cargo bikes on the other side of the pond. Greetings from the Netherlands.

    Great review! It took me a while to wrap my head around this point, but if a couple decided to go down to one car, a very expensive e-cargo bike makes a lot of sense. People have to look at a bike like this as a substitution for a 2nd car. A few rides on my e-bike flipped my thinking. E-cargo bikes don't look "expensive" anymore.

    Test rode the bike while visiting NYC over the summer; its a dream of a bike even for someone who doesnt have kids such as myself but I completely agree on the handebars. It felt way too upright for me and i immediately thought about how I would put drop bars on it 😅 To each their own, but I like leaning forward at least a little bit on a bike.

    Great video! I ordered my urban arrow a few weeks ago to substitute our second car. I am really looking forward to finally receive it.

    Dude, you can change those bars and grips. It was something I changed very early while riding a RadCity. The swoop bars were so uncomfortable on my wrists. It is meant to be a cruiser bar, but I wouldn't enjoy cruising like that. I've got a slight rise and slight sweep; it is much better. Very comfortable.

    There are alternative gearing combinations for Gates belt drives, just like chain drives. The belt drive sprockets are rated by tooth count, just like chain drive sprockets. Sounds like you need to trade down by a tooth or 3 in the front (& up just as many in the rear) to gain more hill climbing power, just like you would with a chain drive.

      You are spot on! I changed the 46T chainring on my 73 lb Radwagon to a 40T, and that really helps put more "pedal" into pedal assist. The 40T chainring makes PAS-1 an easy spin (I have no kids-mainly used for commuting). I strongly suspect a gearing change would allow this gentleman to spend a bit more time in the level below turbo, possibly giving him a significant increase in mileage.

    I bet the motor works way better on this bike, than on most ebikes that only use the motor for top speed, not assistance...

    How long was the learning curve to steering? I've test cycled a friend's UA but I couldn't get used to the turning.

    • @EBikeCommuting
      @EBikeCommuting  8 місяців тому +4

      It probably took me a few rides before I started to get comfortable with making tighter turns at low speed.

      @justdev8965 4 місяці тому +1

      Ooooh my. Why? Is the steering really different from a regular bike? I thought because it doesn't have three wheels, that it would be the same? It's not, then?

    • @densitydad
      @densitydad 4 місяці тому +1

      @@justdev8965 it's weird. You sort of have to find where the smaller front wheel is if you can see it and adjust your turn radius to also account for the additional weight. I remember not relying so much on leaning in or out and more on physically turning the handlebars.

    A belt drive! If using an ordinary chain, you are able to use chain gears, which has much less friction than an internal gear system! I have had one bike using a belt, and I didn't like it! Eventually try a Danish built "Christiania Bike"? It is not as smooth looking, but it functions! Finn. Denmark

      @@EBikeCommuting In Denmark we use as many bikes as in NL. for transport in local traffic, and we also have several types for transport of Children in front, as for heavy loads. The named Chr. and several other types. In the Good Old Days we had a much used, Commercial low transport, heavy load bike, named a "Long John", invented by a Danish Bike Mechanic! I think it is being still being produced?

    I don't believe the Enviolo gearing system is a limiting factor in this scenario. Instead, the 250-watt motor appears to be inadequate for the additional weight of this front-load cargo e-bike, particularly when tackling a steep 15-degree hill. Given the demands of such a situation, the motor struggles to provide sufficient power and torque.
    For the American market, where users often encounter varied and challenging terrains, Bosch should consider offering more robust motor options. This would ensure that riders have the necessary power and performance to handle heavier loads and steeper inclines with ease. Enhanced motor options would not only improve the usability of cargo e-bikes but also expand their appeal to a broader range of consumers who need reliable and efficient transportation solutions in diverse environments.

    $2-3k for the dual battery upgrade is indefensible and asinine. A 100 kWh Tesla battery is around $20k. That e-bike upgrade would be 1 kWh at the absolute most.

      Yeah I'm really curious where the hell the several thousands is going on this thing other than the middrive motor and frame and build. Surely there's big profit margin that fits a suspension system and more affordable dual battery upgrade not in the couple thousands. Might be charging up since they do corner this market in the US for now

    $8000 for this? Might as well get a cheap small car around $10,000 or used car for $2500.
