Only 2400? That s what we ride in 1 year or less. Anyway, good to know that battery lasts 5 years.
We prefer tram 🚋 and subway 🚇 in Winter ❄️😉👍 and…. The battery still lasts after 8 years now….
Ha ha! I was thinking the same thing. I did the math and it’s less than 300 miles a year.
@@JBthePAdashC get one and you'll very likely discover that cargo bike milage is very very unlike race bike milage with 3 little kids 😂
@@hinze55555 I don’t have a race bike. I use an electric bike to commute and for local trips. We also have a tadpole cargo bike we use for two children (3 and 7) for the last two years. The battery is failing and we’re in the market for something else. Just test rode the urban arrow yesterday at a local shop. It is much stronger and easier to ride than the one we currently have. If we get it, I foresee us using it for longer trips than we had previously done with our current cargo bike.
Wasn’t trying to shame or insult you. It’s just not what I’d expect from someone who paid $6000+ for such a bike.

Great review. That's one of my concerns. It being 110 lbs with only 2 wheels and rated to carry 550 lbs of weight. All that weight on the 2 wheels in theory sounds like an invitation for blown tires or worse, broken rims ... but it sounds like the UA can handle it. We ride an electric tandem which is much lighter than the UA and can carry up to 500 lbs of weight (though we'd never tested its limit). The UA looks interesting.
Yeah! Definitely can handle the load! I have in seven years now, never had a blown up tire even with three kids or heavy other load!
Just be sure you can get good maintenance near by!
@@hinze55555 that is impressive. I know people who own the bunch bike (3 wheels bakfiet style) and they either have blown tires or screaming brakes (loud braking sound) after a while. It's off putting to say the least especially coming from a tandem bike background (tandems are easy to maneuver and have "human" assist). ;) ... although, if we were to go "minivan" bike, it would likely be either the Madsen Bike or the Urban Arrow. I should imagine that the UA would handle better balance wise. We'd use the UA to carry an adult though, looks like it can handle it.

Thanks for the video! Up to what age or size of your kids did you use the front box? I have 3-1/2 year-old twins and I am curious how many years I would be able to use this bike to transport them around.
Hey Ron! You can use the seat in the front box for up to two five year old or so... on the video you see my 5 year old and the 2.5 years todler...You can even order a second seat in the ftont box that is mounted in the front end so three kids can use it then... my 7 year old sits on the rear rack :) just great... it gets not so cosy anymore when the kids grow up to 1.3+ m in the front or so... have fun and stay tuned! If you have the optional front seat them you can carry two adults, but most people are very sensitive to facing backwards on this particular bike because the person on the front wheel swings quite a bit.
I know this is an old post, but to answer it for anyone interested today: we just did a test ride on one at our local bike shop. We have two kids (3 and 7) and they actually fit quite well next to each other on the main seat. And they are both big for their age. The 7 year old weighs 90 lbs and is as tall as a 12 year old.

@@annaturba Es zahlt sich aus - es ist so einfach zu verwenden und so nützlich! Es ist gesund UND es kostet weit weniger als ein Auto, die erhaltung noch garnicht mitgerechnet... Nach 5 Jahren und 3.000km kann ich das sagen :) und es hält seinen Wert, ihr könnt es nach 5 Jahren noch immer um das selbe Geld verkaufen, für meines würd ich noch immer 3-4k EUR bekommen!

Ich hab es mir eigentlich zu spät gekauft, meine Kids sind 8 und 3, aber ich dachte, wenn mich die Kiste vorne in ein paar Jahren nervt, verkaufe ich es und kauf mir ein Longtail Lastenrad. Aber erstmal freu ich mich einfach total drauf, nicht mehr (oft) mit dem Auto fahren zu müssen. Mein Händler fährt seins schon seit sieben Jahren, und der hat ja sozusagen „freie Auswahl“. Das war für mich schon ein Zeichen, dass das ein gutes Rad sein muss. 😁
Thanks for this informative review. How long ago did you but yours? And what motor does it have? If it's 5 years old, I see you have the centrally situated display and from what I can see online from researching these bikes the older ones have the display/controller on the left handle bar... I'm wondering if you've upgraded your motor and control system? These reason I ask is that I've just purchased a UA secondhand, which is three years old and has a Bosch Active Line Plus motor. So I'm wondering if upgrading to a Cargo Line is a possibility? I live in hilly Wellington.
Hey! I bought mine in 2015 or so and I didn’t upgrade anything so far! Mine has a classical bosch center 250 W motor ! The only thing I had to replace about two years ago was a battery that I just bought used for some $80 or so and simply replaced it with the damaged one and it worked flawlessly since then! Really, still very happy with the urban arrow family!!!

Wie sind so die Erfahrungen nach den Jahren? Immernoch so eine heiße Empfehlung für das Urban Arrow wie im Video? Finde die Aufnahmen von Wien sehr sehenswert und erfreulich dass mit dem Bike scheinbar auch der Kahlenberg kein Hindernis darstellt. Lg
Hallo Flo! Wir sind mittlerweile bei 7 Jahren bzw. 3,5k km und ich kann meine Empfehlung aus dem Video vollkommen aufrecht halten. Ich würde das Rad jederzeit wieder kaufen bzw. hab ich dzt einfach keinen Überblick über den Markt ob es da etwas besseres gibt. Sehe auch wirklich viele in Wien herumfahren, was ja auch immer ein gutes Zeichen ist - die neuen mit den neuen Motoren und Cover sind ja wirklich noch einmal um eine Spur besser wahrscheinlich - dzt überlege ich, ob ich ihn zu einem vollen Cargo umbaue, weil unsere Kids mit 9, 7 u 4 einfach schon selber radfahren wollen ABER wenn ich sie von wo abhole, karre ich sie immer noch alle drei mit einem Systemgewicht von 170kg Last plus Fahrrad - das ist knapp macht aber allen Spaß :) wobei die Große hinten am Gepackträger sitzt... Kahlenberg ist überhaupt kein Problem - knapp wird es beispielsweise in Kritzendorf mit erheblicher Last an Board, weiß nicht ob dir das was sagt aber das ist schon sehr steil (unbeladen natürlich auch kein Problem). Hey, wir überlegen grad wegen einem UA Family. Nun bin ich allerdings unsicher wegen der motorisierung. Wieviel NM hat euer Motor? Schwanke zwischen den Performance Line mot 65NM oder eben dem Cargo Line mit 85NM. Was würdest du empfehlen für eine Umgebung ähnlich zu den hügeligen Wiener Außenbezirken?
Also wir kommen mit dem kleinen Motor sehr gut aus… Bin aber auch ganz gut in Form… 😉👍 Grundsätzlich ist mehr immer gut… wenn es um mehr als 400-600 € teurer ist würde ich das aber nicht nehmen…good luck 🍀
