  • Morakniv Wit from the Ashwood series being inboxed
    Every model in the Ash Wood line bears the name of a former craftsman who helped to create the Mora knife as it is today.
    The Wit is named after Wit-Anders Eriksson Wit, who spent a lot of time working at Frost Company and was in charge of creating some of the best knives ever created in Mora. His knives are unquestionably works of beauty.

    I like mora.. I have 4 of their wood carvers for making spoons and figures. Got 6 other mora knives, Garberg being most expensive. Sorry, but I don't see anything in this knife that would lead to its ridiculous price. Even many knives made of 3V steel are cheaper. But that's just me.. Have you compared it with a $20 mora. But if you like it hey thats 😎

      That being said, the reality is , that tor the vast majority of users, there is nothing that a any other knife (pick what ever “Gucci” brand or steel) do that the $20 companion can not do.

    Im having a hard time seeing what about this knife makes it the price it is, what are your thoughts on it, do you like it as a tool or more from a collectable aspect? I enjoy your channel immensely

      I am using at as tool not as collectable. I have been using it for the last 4 weeks and until now it hasn’t disappointed me.
      I have written many times about this subject but I can will try to make a resume :)
      The elephant in the room the price: I do think the price is high. My hope is that the price will be corrected in near future as it append with the Garberg.
      Many could be said about cost of production, automated vs manual labor, production at lower rate countries, margines of the supply chain etc. but the truth is that people don’t really care about that, they just want it for the cheapest price possible.
      The recycled steel drama: nothing new. Morakniv changed the way they communicate the steel in 2020, starting to say just stainless or carbon (you can fact check this by using the “way back machine” website) but they still identify the steel type in their website in the FAQ session. The steel is still the same they use for decades 12c27 made by Sandvik. Sandvik used as the main raw material recicled steel. Many other companies use the same steel but don’t have the courage to say it’s recycled. Is it a bad marketing strategy ? For Morakniv they wanted to emphasize their case for the environment and good practices that they have done for decades. They are probably one , if not the best, environment friendly company of the sector.
      I would have preferred that used the 14c28 instead of 12c27.
      The usage of ash wood: I would prefer to see a birch burl instead of ash. But ash is a solid wood, traditionally used in axe handle so it’s more then a capable wood.
      The protruding tang in the handle. It’s a design feature that for me haven’t caused any type of problems in my hands. If I ever make new scales for it I will make them flush though.
      I see many internet user talking about this detail but I don’t see similar fury against for example the new like of the Falkniven F1x that has even more protruding tang.
      Are there other options in the market with superior steel at the same price target? Of course there are. Do I care ? Absolutely not.
      Not every but I make,be in knives or anything, is a ultra racional analysis of cost vs performance. If buy what I like (and can afford).
      If the prices were lower I would have already bought the 3 models (I don’t care about the cooking knife) because of the price for now I only have this one.

      @@Oldmora Thank you so much for this, ill purchase one, I make knives and love the mora brand deeply so i understand the cost of manual labor. I would like many others, wondering what i was wondering, to read this. again thank you for this and your videos! will you do a review video on it if you havent already?

      @Oldmora  Рік тому

      I am not in favor of making “table” reviews. Just making some feather sticks or battoning a log is hardly a real review.
      To make a real review, I need time with it, real world usage.
      In a couple of months I will probably make a video about it.

    Bonitinha mas ordinária....
    No Brasil temos esse dito, quando algo é muito bonito ou muito legal, porém não vale o dinheiro pago ou não tem a qualidade esperada.....

      Já escrevi longo testamento sobre o tema que provavelmente terás lido.
      Um facto é que está faca não terá a mesma relação custo/benéfico que as outras facas da Morakniv mas deixa-me que te diga, que depois de quatro semanas a usá-la ainda não me desiludiu em nenhum aspecto.
      Certamente existe neste nível de preços opções com aços tecnicamente mais avançamos mas para mim pouco me interessa, pois sou um fanboys.
      Nem todas as compras, (seja em facas ou qualquer outra coisa) que faço tem por base uma análise super objectiva da relação preço qualidade, muitas compras são apenas com base numa avaliação mais subjectiva de gosto ou não gosto e posso ou não comprar.
      Se gostava de ter uma Morakniv em Magnacut? Claro que sim. Será que preciso de uma faca em Manganacut? Até hoje nunca senti essa necessidade.

    Uma bela faca, mas estupidamente cara para os materiais oferecidos. 😢

    • @Oldmora
      @Oldmora  Рік тому

      Provavelmente não tem a mesma relação preço/qualidade que as muitos dos modelo em catálogo mas até agora não tenho razão de queixas da faca.
