Mora let’s add some harbor freight hammer handles to the garberg and charge 5x the money we have cult following…. Later that day mora where everyone go
Mora definitely created a slight breach of edicate by skipping the double dog dare ya markup in price by going for the triple dog dare ya to mark the price up higher and faster than any markup known to man. They really got their tongues stuck to the flagpole this time.
The Mora is a beautiful knife and I trust your assessment of it. I’ve not had the pleasure of using one and probably never will. Priced out of my range. I do have the Garberg and a couple of other Moras like the Companion. I think the most I’ve ever paid for a knife was 110 or so. While I do like knives, guns, hatchets, axes, etc etc I just can’t afford a lot of the stuff that’s out there....
Here in Sweden you can get it for 200 dollars but that is still ridiculously expensive. I have almost every Morakniv out there but this i will never buy. I went for a Casström No.10 SFK in curly birch instead, 174 dollars with firesteel included. A much more beautiful knife and it has a better steel.
As a Mora fanboy myself, I personally think its to expensive, steel isn't something special, but good quality like before. The wooden handle isn't flush with the metal that's in between the two parts. To expensive for my liking to be honest, but there will be people enough to buy it and show on UA-cam
This Mora fr guys who think going off road, 4 wheeling is putting their Range Rovers in 4wd to crawl down their 300' peastone aggregate driveway in winter....
Yeah, this isn’t even a $50 knife to me. I don’t get it. They could have at least used an attractive hardwood for the handle, ash, soft 12c27? I don’t get it.
Turns out the Esee RB 3 is a budget blade after all . Hand assembly and finish drives the price up but it’s just too expensive given the alternatives on the market .
Mora has been making good performing knives at a budget price for years. I am definitely interested in their new model in a higher price market and am sure they will do well. Thanks for the in depth review.
Don't get it !? Mora is known for value , they really jumped off the tracks with this one . Looks great but no premium materials to go with the premium price ! Too many better blades at way better prices . Sorry Mora , this ain't it ! Honest , objective review , thanks 👍👍
Thank you for a straightforward, and honest evaluation. 👍 I am somewhat brand loyal with some things. Morakniv, is one of them. I own 9 Morakniv knives, and use one daily. And have always enjoyed working with them all. Morakniv builds well designed knives. They're VERY good for the price. However, I do believe that they've made a mistake in this line of knives. They're far too overpriced. And that's where my loyalty faulters. So I'll stick with my well priced knives from Morakniv, and pass on this line of knives from them.
I own several Mora knives and they are great knives for not much money. I can't see paying almost $300 for a Mora which uses the same Sandvik Stainless in their other models. Like I said, Mora makes some great knives for the price but this one doesn't have a super steel to justify the Cost.
G'day Aaron, 12C27, lol, I'll stick with a 20 knicker Companion thanks very much, lol. Remember when the Garberg was released, .....well this is off the charts, lol. I suspect they are going for a rare collectors item, since not too many folks are gonna buy 'em. Cheers Duke
When I saw this initially, i thought they had made a budget friendly option to the Garberg. Whoo boy was I wrong lol. Paying $300 for a Mora is like paying $110k for a Honda. For that price you could get a fantastic Bark River or a large variety of other high end knives.
Nice looking knife, I got excited when I first seen this knife.....then the price.......this a family channel, so for adults imagine explicit words for about 10 seconds.....never bought a Mora, and don't think I ever will now.....brilliant video sir...and I totally agree with everything you said bud.....cheers...👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴🍺🍺🍺
The Mora Wit is the best and most versatile knife ever used. Not everything is about the steel. It would be even better with Sleipner steel, but this knife is still the best with Sleipner. I bought it for 200 USD. Totally worth it. It’s better than Companion for food prep, whittling, ferro rod, batoning. The Companion is now the second most versatile knife now.
For $200 you need to try out some more blades my friend. Much better ergos, and materials out there for less. Try the Esee RB3 for $120 it’s a way better knife. Or the Brisa Trooper $160 and it is mind blowing. Or the Joker Ember for $120 better sheath, handle and steel.
Nice and honest review. I've been using Moras since I was kid a starting with the Mora scout. I love the Garberg, Kansbol and Companion, but what the heck happened with the Ash Wood-series? Cool design, but who put the prices on these? After this I made up my mind and ordered a Fällkniven A1 instead.
That price is 🤯🤪🤯🥴🥺. Love my mora's own many highest priced one is $65. Moras are known for being budget friendly. But this is Crazy priced, But hey just my opinion.✝🇺🇸✝
Amazing scenery! Thank you for the review. I appreciate that Mora makes some very affordable other knife models for those of us who don't have the coin and/or willingness to shell out nigh $300 on a knife.
Considering you can get a benchmade, spyderco, Esee, and various other high-end knives for below this price my message to Mora is clear: Never gonna happen!
Most knife people love Mora's for 1/10 the price. This new Ash Wood series probably won't be around for long.......which might make it a collector's item or a conversation piece.
I have a few Mora companions and use one as a dedicated mushroom hunting knife. Works great, light weight, ergonomic, and easy to clean! I also have a Garberg and use it for camping, etc. Pretty decent but don’t prefer the scandi grind nor the hard plastic handle. Still, it works and I’m not afraid that it will get damaged or dinged up, cuz it’s built solidly. But this new series makes no sense for the money, at all? I would like to see them hire a knife designer and put out something high end that deserves $280!
Whatever the steel is, the fact is that the Mora Wit knife is the most versatile knife ever created. Please show me another knife that is excellent for both carving/whittling AND food prep. I really love the Wit knife from Morakniv, regardless of the steel. It holds a good edge.
I actually have both the Lok and the Wit. The Wit is a better bushcraft knife (it’s labeled bushcraft knife) because it’s slimmer and better at food prep than the Lok (labeled wilderness knife). Also better handling feel and all round purpose knife. So I’m going to sell the Lok and keep the Wit.
I think the people at Mora had dinner with the people who price Fallkniven and thought why don't we charge those kinds of prices? They probably also looked at some of the little 1095 shops that sell more on looks and tradition than performance and thought they charge $300 for 1095 and wood why don't we?
Mora already has that blade shape on another knife with a over-molded handle. The Bushcraft Black. It is not full tang but I have thumped on mine with no issues.
I sure hope you get your money back when you dump it. A lot of buyers on the Mora FB has complained about the cheap scales spitting cracking and like you said the steel is what they use in their $14.00 USD knives. Joker knives get my money all day long!
Should have been a $60 knife max. the options past $100 start putting this range in the shade - even the Kansbol/Garberg knives seem like better options.
Not counting inflation, but around the $120 price point (retail) one gets into “the point of diminishing return” and “cost benefit ratio” of a piece of sharp hardened tool steel.
Thanks for the excellent video Aaron. I agree with everything you had to say. I think Mora is hoping that their name alone gets some people to buy this knife, thinking they are getting a super premium blade. Guys like us, that actually understand what type steel was used to make this knife, immediately question the price and quickly see that this item SHOULD be priced at somewhere around $75 bucks. It is constructed out of budget steel. Don’t get me wrong, i like Mora’s use of this steel, but IN THEIR $20 dollar knives.
It seem someone in the company is hellbent on rebranding the company reputation that we have all come to know and love. Mora, if you do not wish to alienate your customer base, terminate that person(s) immediately. BPS has you in the corner.
First off great review as always. Now i don't mind spending money on s tool I love and will enjoy using. However I don't see the value in that knife. Personally for that price i woukd rather buy another LT Wright knife that I know I would love owning and using.
This puts me in mind of the Victorinox fixed blade in 1.4116 steel for $230+. Just let these companies stay in their lane. They're doing fine there, haha.
Yep im Swedish and a fan of Mora. I will buy it to support them and because I love the look of it, I really wanted a wooden handle, but the price is ridiculous... should be 150. Not 250... Not sure why they put this price on it, I don't get it... 🤔 but I want to support European local companies. Too much stuff is made in Asia these days. Worth supporting imo.
When companies think its okay to price jack like this thats when i start to only wait for sales then cause if they can't respect the customer and intentionally inflate the price then wonder why people go for the foreign produced product then they should catch the hint that its not okay all they effectively have done is priced themselves out of the market.
@@Horde334 It's a bad brand move, cause it shines badly on Mora as a company.. If they wanted to price it high and have a reason for it, they should have explained it in a video why it's worth that type of money... Maybe the steel costs more if you recycle 80% or such, I don't know..
Thanks for your helpful review of this very expensive Mora . Let's hope the company listen . Did you test the Helle Gaupe ? eg. If so is it a better slicer than say the Joker Campero which you have enthused about previously ? Best wishes Mark
Bought an LT Wright Genesis scandi in magnacut for around $330. Super nice knife but it still chips and rolls even though I’ve sharpened it multiple times. It’s great but honestly not really worth the price jump over it’s A2 counterpart!
The norse gods are not pleased. They could have done a lot better with the price. I have A lot of Mora knives. And all of them are great use all of them. And have them stashed everywhere. But I will have to pass on this one. You are right about what they need to do to it . I hundred percent agree. And if it was me, I'd buy the Joker knife . Like you I like the blade profile.
Hasn’t Mora tried that pricing strategy on previous releases? Wonder what those blades are selling for today and/or if they even continued to make them?
What an excellent review..... I was gifted a Lok and can safely echo every point you made. I so wanted Morakniv to succeed with their full tang wooden handled Bushcraft knife but...😢 I like it.. but I don't 'Love' it.
Wow, such a bummer. What are they thinking. I would totally just buy one of those reiff's for that price. That steel is a joke compared to 3v!! Wood handles...........that blade probably costs about 7 bucks to make.
I think people get all worked up for nothing .Do i think these knives are over priced, yes, but Mora isn't forcing people to buy their products. They still have plenty of good cheaper options out there. If Mora went this way with all their knives if wouldnt go well for them but to say im never buying a Mora again is silly.
I'd but the two sets of new Victorinox Venture Pro knives and a 6-pack of beer for nice camping day...then buy another for evening instead of this new Mora.
I'd love to spend an afternoon in the woods, especially sometime around October, using one of these knives that a buddy lent to me. That sounds like a great way to wile away a morning or afternoon. But, for even half of what they're asking, I can no see no reason to ever, ever buy this knife, which is disappointing. I'd love to add one of these to my appreciable Mora collection, but there's no way I could ever justify the cost. I have a carbon Garberg with the leather sheath that I finagled off scAmazon on a daily deal for about eighty bucks, and that is a great price point for that setup and about what I'd pay for this.
I have a Ukrainian BPS that came with exactly the same fit and finish issues in the handle. Paid less than $50, and wasn't happy! Nice comparison with better choices. I really liked the Helle and the Joker. Thanks for the info! Love Mora, but this series is a firm, No.
I like Moras but not that much. Would take a Joker Ember first any day of the week (and did). Apart from everything you have mentioned, I just find this knife really ugly. Thanks for the review.
$280 is Nuts. A sucker born every minute must be their company motto. Ash wood is used to make baseball bats. Do they play baseball in Sweden?? Probably not, as the bats cost too much. haha
@@gideonstactical For real - yes ! I have 2 Mora LMF & 1 Companion for which I paid $50 each for the LMF & $40 for the Companion. Yes I’m happy with those knives at those prices. No I’m not impressed with the quality of the stainless steel they use, yes it has and takes a good edge but it will develop rust spots quite easily when compared to my Rapala fishing & filleting knives. As for bush craft and fire prep our native timber would (and does) dull knife blades very quickly. So at $280usd ($413aud) that’s a ridiculous price for what it is, you are getting into the realm of custom or semi custom made. Just my thoughts I think some knife companies are going to price themselves out of the market. p.s. great work on the channel 👍
Im not making an excuse for them because that is ridiculous but if i remember correctly, years ago i watched a Mora Video on UA-cam and one of the guys there said it was difficult for them to make full tang blades because of their machinery. Apparently the machines they have are set up for rat tail tangs and what not. Maybe thats the issue. Its still not an excuse because theyre playing catchup with almost every other fixed blade manufacturer but its the only thing i can think of.
This test was over for me when he mentioned the price. For me to spend nearly $300 for a fixed blade, it would have to sing, or do math, or something .
nice but sorry its way way way over priced at $280! you can get a very good axe a very good knife and a nice foldind saw and still get some change back.
When someone says "Recycled steel" I really don't think that is a merit or demerit of the steel. Considering modern manufacturing processes, recycling steel is a long practice to the point it would be safe to assume some to all the steel in some people's houses are recycled steel.
One of few Mora knives I wouldn't consider to buy. It looks fine and probably is quite good since it's Mora but it loses the greatest advantage of their knives - insanely good price to quality rate. For ita price you can find knives of similar quality and even better.
Mora definitely hit a foul ball with this one! When it comes to knife steels, I want a premium steel--I don't two cents about the "environmental cache" of it being "recycled". That might work all right for polyester used in jackets, but I don't see how you could keep the alloys pure in recycled steel. The price is waaaaay too much and, as Gideon noted, the handle configuration could lead to discomfort when using it for a long stretches at a time. This looks like the "Edsel" of Mora knives---and I have both the carbon steel and stainless steel Garbergs, and I love them---but I wouldn't pay over $50 for this $280 knife.
Did Benchmade buy Mora!? I mean for 280 I figured the blade would at least be magnacut or something else but it's just Mora steel. Ridiculous.
lol......see what u did there..
Couldn't agree with you more!
Totally agree!
Ahahahah the benchmade mora!
Mora let’s add some harbor freight hammer handles to the garberg and charge 5x the money we have cult following…. Later that day mora where everyone go
Anyone that even thinks of buying this for 280 dollars is insane. But they know there’s a sucker born every minute. Looks like 20 dollars to me. 🖖🏻🇺🇸
Completely agree. $280 for a condor
Nah....cmon ..
.give them some credit, 😅... Id seriously pay around $80 for it....same as the Garberg
The Garberg is way better than the new/old blade!
Grief. What are people thinking paying this sort of money 💰 😅
@@johncrouch8988 I suspect the only rave reviews of this knife are where influencers were sent it for free to review 🙄
The fallkniven sk2 is only $20 more than this at $300. Let that sink in 😂. Mora is absolutely out of their minds

Those scales being shy of the tang is not good. They can take a lesson from Joker and Bark River on how to blend the scales to the steel.

What an excellent review..... I was gifted a Lok and can safely echo every point you made. I so wanted Morakniv to succeed with their full tang wooden handled Bushcraft knife but...😢 I like it.. but I don't 'Love' it.
I have a couple of Helle that I would go to over this. Too expensive.
Do you know or have you reviewed any Nieto knives? They're also from Spain, good quality and very competitively priced.
I have not yet!
@@gideonstactical ok,just so you keep them in mind for a future vid! Keep up the good job, brother!
Few more bucks and you can get a LT Wright in 3v
I've had a mora bushcraft for years now. I paid like 40 bucks for it. Not seeing how the 300 dollar mora is any better except for the sheath.
Id take that Bradford all day, any day and x5 on Sundays for the same price as that ...' recycled' ...Mora
Oh ya!!
Wow, such a bummer. What are they thinking. I would totally just buy one of those reiff's for that price. That steel is a joke compared to 3v!! Wood handles...........that blade probably costs about 7 bucks to make.
Ya it is really sad. If they have me made the handles flush and charge $100 it would be a winner.
so is the steel the same as the mora garberg s? or mora companian heavy duty? i want to compare to joe x
Well its a Mora but i dont see the price in it. They make great knives that are much more affordable & uses the same steel. Thats crazy priced lol
I think this should have been no more than twice the price of the Garberg. It's a hard sell over that.
$280 is Nuts. A sucker born every minute must be their company motto. Ash wood is used to make baseball bats. Do they play baseball in Sweden?? Probably not, as the bats cost too much. haha
I converted usd to aud and that's a $413 knife !
Arhm note to Mora - serious rethink on the price.
For real!!!
Ya, so weird, then I would say outsource the blanks if you don’t have the machines. Tons of companies do that.
100% with you on this 🔪
This test was over for me when he mentioned the price. For me to spend nearly $300 for a fixed blade, it would have to sing, or do math, or something .
As long as there are people spending more than $100 on a cutting tool, there will be companies, which make money on it.
8:49 ewww man so even though it’s expensive for a mora, there really no reason. Flaws, cheap steal, cheap wood🙃
Can anyone explain why this knife is $200 more than the Garberg?...
How about $1500 for a fallkniven or $3000 for a rockstead 😮
nice but sorry its way way way over priced at $280! you can get a very good axe a very good knife and a nice foldind saw and still get some change back.
🤦♂️ what a disappointment with the steel and price. if demko can give us magnacut knife at 199.99 USA made, i’m sure Mora can too.
Ya I don’t know why
You can buy a Casstrum for 150.
When someone says "Recycled steel" I really don't think that is a merit or demerit of the steel. Considering modern manufacturing processes, recycling steel is a long practice to the point it would be safe to assume some to all the steel in some people's houses are recycled steel.
How is it so much money? How?
