honestly the fact that the glee club was ok to let Finn think that the baby was his it's fucked up i was so happy when Rachel told him the truth
No cuz literally this.
I rarely side with Rachel but this time (even though she mostly told him cuz she was hoping he'd come to her) but she was better then the whole club in this situation because they all kept that shit hidden for like months after finding out but Rachel told Finn immediately after learning. Poor guy had to go through so much stress and bull shit because his girlfriend couldn't keep her legs closed or respect him enough to tell him the damn truth.
Don't Rain on my Parade, one of Rachel's best solos that still gives the chills. And to think that now Lea is going to be on Funny Girl Broadway where she will no doubt crush it. This first Sectionals performance is only a small taste of what's to come, can't wait for you to see the rest!
There is a clip of Amber Riley sing "And I'm Telling You" at the 2017 Laurence Olivier Awards in London were she won for Best Actress in a Musical for playing Effie White from Dreamgirls.

Glee was so smart in its nuances and how they filmed certain scenes. Facial expressions, song choice, camera work… one of my FAVORITE shows I’ve ever watched in my life. Such a talented group of actors! ❤️
The original series order was for 13 episodes, so this one was written to be the finale if it didn't get renewed, while keeping the door open for more episodes if it did. They were based on the original movie script that Ian Brennan wrote, and were all completed before any of them had aired. You have several wonderful seasons of Glee ahead of you, but as of the next episode and from then on you might notice a change of tone and an upswing in the surrealism and camp then what you've seen so far. The first 13 were the only ones untouched by fandom and record sales. Not necessarily a criticism, just a difference.

Imo the writing quality went straight down afterwards. It was still good enough in the rest of S1 and in S2, but when the new writers were added in S3, it was game over.
I felt like the first 13 definitely had a mixed interest in the teachers and the students and that started to drift to more of a student focus after the original order
@@supervivo7069 right--there was also a consistency to the characters that changed and made it extremely difficult to watch as time went on
OMG I didn't realize how iconic this episode is, especially when Amber actually became Effie AND Lea became Fanny Brice!
Such a great Glee episode. I believe that they originally only had a 13 episode order.

Yeah cause Fox didn’t know the series was gonna do so good so this was originally a sort of season finale, then the pilot and these first episodes did so good they ordered a full 22 episodes season and this episode then worked as a mid-season finale, also they immediately ordered a season 2👍🏾

Fun fact: Almost all performances after recording in the studio are just lip sync, but Amber sang live on the day, so the reactions are very much genuine. Ofc they overplayed it with audio from the studio, but most of the actors heard it for the first time live.
Also, Amber did perform it multiple times live, she actually sang it when she played Effie White on West End in Dreamgirls.

Yes, Dont Rain on my Parade does count as a ballad. The only thing that constitutes a ballad is its story.
exactly, people always think ballad is only slow song, which is not true
depends on which definition of a ballad you want to consider i guess
@@TravisViews people just over took the word ballad because of Celine dion haha when titanic was such a phenomenon people were listening to it and people would say it was the best ballad ever sung. So now people just associate ballads with slow songs haha.
I love all the competition episodes. I think the performances in them are my favourite! Don't rain on my parade is so great and I highly recommend you to watch Lea Michele singing it at Tony Awards

She sang live each take but they replaced the vocals in the scene with her studio recording but all the reactions are the casts real reactions, no acting at all.
@@TravisViews they usually sang the songs live to match the recording.
I always like to watch their competition episodes. Their voices are amazing.
Also, just by your reactions to this show. If you haven't watched Ugly Betty before you should react to it. Is it such a good show.
Rachel may have done bad things but here she did the right thing Finn was being presherd by Quinn to suport a baby that was not even his. Quinn lied to Finn about him being the father of her baby, even though Puck was the real father and all of Glee club exept for Rachel new the truth and still did not tell him, they were leting Quinn imprison Finn in a fake relationship. Rachel had the guts to tell him the truth she freed Finn. Quinn and Finns relationship was fake from the very beggining she only wanted to be with him because he was the quarterback and she was the head cheerleader and being with the quarterback will make her more popular than she already is she only loved Finn for being the quarterback and boosting her popularity even more.

I literally just watch this episode over and over again just to hear Mercedes sing And I am Telling you and even after watching it a million times I STILL get chills.
I don’t really feel too sorry for Finn . He was pretty gullible like Will, They make it easy for Quinn and Terri . Yes Quinn and Terri are horribly wrong but sometimes Will and Finn are frustratingly stupid.
Amber Riley gives me chills every time she sings. I do believe that the cast did a lot of live performances, though I don’t know if you can find it anywhere but UA-cam now. I don’t know what Amber Riley is doing these days, or if she has any music out or did any performances outside Glee but I do know that Lea Michelle ( Rachel) has a few albums out and she’s still a powerhouse and I recommend checking that out.

feel the same. he is consistently creepy and his “development” is kind of a joke. there’s something he did in season 4 that i find absolutely nasty. i mean, in the first episode he wants to flip artie in the porta potty he locked him in. if any of my favorite characters did that... they wouldn’t be my favorite characters anymore
he had a good voice i guess but i never got the hype about him either his character was so gross... not even touching the irl stuff bc i literally get queasy thinking about it
Fun fact, Amber isn't miming to the pre recorded version in the and I'm telling you scene, they still use the pre recorded version but she is also singing it live on set in that scene so all the casts reactions to her voice are legit, she is such a phenomenal singer, and the best in glee in my opinion, I wish she got to do more
yep, the show usually took a mid season break around episode 13-14. sometimes it left for some crazy cliffhangers we had to wait a while for
the kiss between Will and Emma is soooooo wholesome 😍

The fact that they called in Jacob to replace Finn is a crime, but glad to see Finn stepped up and saved the day. As Kurt would say, "whenever he wore this letterman jersey, it's like superman walked in." RIP Cory, Naya, and Mark. *Edit, spoilers
Best moments in the episode.
-Mercedes's And I Am Not Telling You I'm Going and Rachel's Don't Rain On My Parade gave me CHILLS
-Will and Emma's kiss
-Glee club coming in at first at sectionals despite the judges not knowing what was behind the scenes
-Sue getting kicked out for leaking the setlist
-The coach of Jane Addams acknowledged that what she did was wrong and went to go tell the judges
-The Glee clubs performance of My Life Would Suck Without You which had many pieces that was used throughout the first 12 episodes. And Shue getting reinstated as coach of ND.
Also Shue saying to Finn, you can't always get what you want and that's the song they perform.
That background thing always happens and just wait til next season you’ll fall out your chair I don’t think your prepared
I never tire of this episode or season one in general. This episode is my “go to” to watch when I have a crummy day!
Late but Amber is the superior singer on this show to me due to her versatility. She can scale it back to sing in a more "traditional" Broadway style while clearly and cleanly doing what the vocal powerhouses can do.
