Hi Kartharina, you should move the Chronograph further away a bit. The gasses from the bullet and the concussion of the explosion can mess with the chrony results. Just a tip! Nice rifle!!

Yes, what L33 said. It's important to get that chronograph set up about 4 meters away from the muzzle. Your barrel is short so that will reduce the maximum achievable muzzle velocity a little. Katharina, did you say what weight of bullets you are trialling? From the recoil I'm thinking they are 150gn. If so, it would be nice to get close to 2700 fps, if the short barrel can manage that.
Perhaps you can take your press and do some loading out in the field. The wind will make it difficult to use your powder scales, so simply use a powder thrower and measure by volume rather than by weight. You'll need to calibrate the graduated scale on the powder thrower with your scales at home beforehand. Easy! Watch for pressure signs, gradually increase the loads and find out what the best one is by throwing some onto the scales when you get home. :-)

I have to consciously tell myself to be sure to keep my feet flat when shooting prone it's surprising how much it can throw off my groups if I'm "on my toes".

You might want to try crimping your bullets if you are shooting with a loaded magazine. Recoil and feeding the next round can change the seating depth. I don’t crimp if I am bench rest shooting but I only load one round at a time and I start the bullet in the chamber by hand. On hunting loads I always crimp with a Lee collet crimper. I enjoyed your video, keep it up!

    Great shooting young lady!!
With the crony times all strung out, the only thing I can advise to you with my years of shooting and reloading is to re check components. There is nothing wrong with your reloading and attention to detail.
Clean the brass per usual and punch out primers.
Make sure all brass is same manufacturer, WIN, R-P, etc.
Check and clean primer pockets, AND de-burr every flash hole whether it needs it or not.
Lube, and full length resize ALL cases.
Trim ALL cases, and chamfer the case mouth inside and outside.
    Clean all brass, again.
WEIGH all the brass to make sure they are fairly consistent, case to case.
    Prime, inspect.
Reload, inspect, and measure each round.
BY THE WAY.... Do not hesitate in re-weighing a powder charge. It is O.K. just to check.
Use a Lee Precision Factory Crimp Die to crimp all rounds for a consistent "pull" at ignition. How much is personal, but start with a medium crimp.
These inconsistent crony readings are a fixable component issue. I follow these steps with all my reloading new or used brass, rifle or pistol. I shoot consistent velocities and groups this way.
I hope this helps in some way.
    Have fun and good shooting!!

Hi Katharina, I know this video is a year old, but just in case. Crimping the round can give you more consistent velocities, a step after inserting your bullet head in your previous video. Additionally, groupings is what you look for in testing the various loads of powders, windy conditions would get in your way. The barrel whip will have a resonance effect of either tightening the group or widening it - my findings were conclusive with 1gr difference in each set of ammo. I hope you found your ideal load and it gives you the accuracy you were seeking :)

I think you're using your Barnes reloads but am not clear which loads are which. My suspicion is not the chronograph but the scale you use! I have a digital and a beam-type. I once weighed a loaded tray ten times, resetting each time. I got ten different read-outs. I use the beam scale now. Also, using the Lee dippers is ok but agonizingly slow. I use a powder-drop, which meters the load to just a bit less than the load I want. Then I use a trickler to bring it up to the weight more slowly but allows me to drop one grain-at-a-time! In the end, it's faster than the dippers, for me. Keep it up!

Hi, I have the same chronograph but I'm fed up with this thing because I cant rely on it. It displays different speeds depending on the light and the weather. I think I will change soon for a magnetospeed or labradar

How long is that barrel? I get about 2940 fps out of a 22 inch barrel with the 150gr TTSX, and I have been thinking about cutting it down to 20 inches. I'm just curious as to how much velocity I would lose. Btw, I own the same chronograph. I have been told that average velocities out of this chronograph compare very favorably to much more expensive models, but that the extreme spread will be greater. You may may want to use more rounds to determine your average velocities. I concur with placing the chronograph farther from the muzzle. Keep the videos coming. You will be giving hickok45 competition soon.

I have the same chronograph, if the lighting isn't perfect it's not very reliable. Most of the time I just shoot at 100, 200 and 300yds and figure the speed by the trajectory at each distance, works only if you have the accuracy to pull it off.
