I didn't know the Norwegians used them after the war. I have two complete G 33/40s and a hybrid G 33/40 with a VZ-33 receiver, mountain mauser stock, barrel and bolt, and a WWII Czech sniper scope. They're great shooting carbines with a nice crisp kick.
There was an intact German army of more than 300000 soldiers left in Norway when the war ended. They didn't get to keep their guns of course, and Norway with no army at all at the time, could put to good use German rifles when they built up their own army. The G 33/40 mauser however was given to the police, and not the army. The army used the regular K98.
Way cool! I know that 8mm Carbine has some kick to it, but it is a fun short rifle to shoot! A good friend bought a Carbine length barrled action, Boyds stock, and put together a light small game rifle, iron sights only! That carbine is perfect for these Arizona Bosques: Javalina, Coyote, White tail, and Muleys! Thanks for showing and shooting this great original example for us!! Again, I really appreciate what you are doing!!
You handled that rifle well. Classic Mauser similar to the one's I need to test out. Keep up the great job doing your videos and I will check them out again in the future.

Skål. Holy shit. That was thunderous in that little valley you are in. One of the best sounding rounds I have heard go off from a rifle on UA-cam. You handled that great and nice quality video.
That is one brutal rifle. I own Mauser rifles but this one is a rare carbine. I had shot one time a Persian M1949 cavalry carbine. That kicked my ass big time. The recoil and muzzle blast is unbelievable. I once owned a Hungarian variant Mosin Nagant M1938 carbine. That one sucked too. I ended selling it to a friend who is a monster who loved recoil. He still owns it but the god of recoil will eventually catch up to you and make you submit. This lady is indeed very brave to shoot the infamous G33/40. The German Mountain Infantrymen who were armed with these rifles hated them in combat. I much prefer my K98Ks and Yugo M24/47s when shooting my Mausers. My favorite which doesn't kick my ass but will out shoot all my challengers at steel targets at 300 to 500 yards is my Rock Island made M1903 in 30-06. That is a beauty of a military bolt action rifle. The G33/40 is a monster.
wow, I really love that rifle. I have an M38 Swedish Mauser that is a joy to shoot and would really like to try one of these. They look pretty rare too, I see one sold in the US for $USD 2550.
Wow, you got a real iron shoulder! The 33/40 is a wonderful rifle but its on podium with the Berthier carbine, M95 carbine or FR8 as serious kicker. All my respect for your performance!🙇♂️

I am impressed. That young lady is tougher than she looks. The G33/40 is a small, light rifle shooting a full power cartridge. Recoil is significant. Not a whimper out of her.

Great video. I have the same rifle Norwegian poli marked . Please try if you can, light 150 grain handloads or better yet some castlead much less recoil .👍🐗cheers🍺
I'd really like to see some slow motion video of the muzzle blast. About 4 out of 5 of Kat's shots yielded a massive plume of flame that I'm sure would be very beautiful.

You are as cute as button. Very pretty little girl. You are a very good marksman. Have fun. Grow up and have a great life! As you get a bit older and a bit bigger the recoil gets a little more tolerable. Lean into, forward, the rifle a tiny bit more and hold very snuggly to your shoulder so the rifle pushes instead of kicks. That rifle does have a good bit of recoil. I shoot it too and it’s stout. I think you are doing super great job!
Mauser, like all rifles of the late 19th century and early 20s, were designed to conduct targeted shooting lying down, from a trench or other shelter. The girl shoots from a shortened version of 33th, but still, the recoil after the shot is unpleasant, especially since there is a steel butt. My modern Ruger GSR .308 rifle, with an exact copy of the Mauser bolt, behaves much better, though it has a muzzle brake.
the one she shoots with is a adopted Version of the German kar98k, that the Norwegian adoptere to their own after ww2 because the mauser was much better, then the bolt action rifle, like the krag Jorgensen. And it was then after ww2 Norway started using it in the police and the army.
