  • SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER CIRCUIT OPEN CODE ERROR FIX AIR BAG LIGHT
    ► Our Website: mechaniclifestyle.com
    Hey guys, if your air bag light is on and the code says "Seat belt pretensioner circuit open" then you are at the right place. We will show you what you need to do to get rid off the air bag light by fixing the problem. We HAVE a video about testing the seat belt pretensioner on our channel World Mechanics.
    Always check the connection and cables because when you move the seat forward and backwards the cable might get damaged.

      Closed it mean that both wires touch each other or there is internal fault in the pre-tensioner.

    But what if you change it and still get that code? Live data shows 23ohm resistance even after new pretensioner.

  • @dougiequick1
    @dougiequick1 Рік тому

    did not help. My error (2018 mazda) was resistance below spec on the recoilment pretensioner piece and the connector is screwed up so I tried to use a resistor but now it says open circuit even when I am totally certain resistor is making contact ...it is over 2 ohms maybe 2.4 but the pretensioner reads 2ohm I donr understand what is happening? Funny thing the other pretensioner part by the seat was also throwing low resistance code until I stabbed the clip back in then it immediately cleared....I am thinking these newer cars have something besides just the resistor in the pretensioners? driving me NUTS and of course NO ONE sells the OEM replacement connectors....that I can find anyway...I just dont see how that could matter?

      @@fuckjewtube69 thanks for your reply I was hoping that you could tell me what it could be as a possibility why it didn't work for me and what else is there to look for when it comes to code 34.this is the only code that I have which is calling for seatbelt buckle and nothing else. All the wires are looking good .please let me know thank you again!

    • @tcjay119

      @@markchimmy it could still be dodgy wires for the pre tensioner, but it's probably the passenger occupancy sensor or the wires for the occupancy sensor. Its best to get a scanner to know for sure. A lot of people bypass the occupancy sensor by installing a bypass unit (this is usually illegal because it deploys passenger airbag even if theres no passenger). If the occupancy sensor itself is broken then a new one is about £130, however its not easy to install as it is essentially built in as a pad in the seat, so you can get a garage to install it looking at a total of around £300. Or you could just but a new passenger seat as this can work out cheaper, but buying a used seat comes with its own risk as occupancy sensors are fragile and are known to break. Hope this helps.

      Basically what I got from it is that the wires leading to and from the seat belt may be damaged. They, I am sure tested the pretensionsr but instead of repairing they just got another working seat belt with working wiring.
      Pretty much what I got from it is, look for damaged or frayed wire causing that light to stay on in that general area. Pretty helpful. Gonna try it myself on my day off. I’ll let you know what happens. Ps I know you posted 8 months ago. Haha prolly already fixed your problem, or sold the car. Hah

    I had a vehicle crash and both airbags went off. I replaced the airbags and pretensioners from the junkyard. They said they were good. Sent in the module for crash reset. If somehow one of the airbags or pretensioners is not good, will it set off the airbags when I turn on the engine?

      Zé Luis the tensioner is the refractory part... and the pre tensioner is the buckle snap part. Has a plug. If no plug no pre tentioner

      If you just have a 2 wire
      Buckle the pretensioner is in the B-pillar and has a plug going to it.
